He actually breaks character a lot. He always tried making Sandler laugh and would sneak in subliminal smirks and weird shit that would make Sandler just lose it.
There is an alternate reality where Farley lived to complete his voice work for Shrek and get help for his drug addiction...where Andy Dick was stabbed by a mugger on the way to give Phil's wife the coke, and Hartman went on to his own chat show or sitcom

That was usually in sketches where he was cast as a minor, unfunny character with just one line. He'd throw on a little extra sauce at the live show to make people break. But for sketches like Matt Foley, he'd already have people laughing at the rehearsals.
I saw this skit live back in the day. I had just got home and had a couple drinks in me. I just remember laughing so hard, I could barley breathe. Especially when he stepped on the flaming dog shit and then fell through the window. I kept on laughing hours after it was over. Farley has to be one of the funniest people that ever lived. He was great in all of his characters.

I think all Farley's movies are currently available on digital platforms... I know they are on VHS and DVD. Farley, Phil, Norm MacDonald, Dana Carvey, earlier Letterman never fade away despite of YT. I have "Black Sheep" still recorded on VHS lol YT is one platform, there's many ways to get the videos. In the end is all about celebrate the work of these two wonderful artists. They will never fade away.

A classic SNL skit. All the Matt Foley bits were great, but I think this is my most favorite, especially the ending. Can't believe this one's 26 years old. I remember watching this the night it aired when I was a kid.

Farley never broke character. He made everyone laugh, and stayed right in the character, always. 100% all in.

There is a scene where he plays the husband & Adam Sandler plays the wife where he caresses Sandler's thigh in order to make him laugh.

the cast breaking is kind of a staple of SNL, otherwise bland uninteresting skits get new life because the actors break during them

A classic SNL skit. All the Matt Foley bits were great, but I think this is my most favorite, especially the ending. Can't believe this one's 26 years old. I remember watching this the night it aired when I was a kid.
I don't see anyone else being able able to pull this off so perfectly. R.I.P. Chris gone way too soon and still sorely missed

@ 4:58... The sound engineer was right on cue with the broken glass sound effect... and it's impressive how fast Chris finds his glasses and puts them back on after falling thru the window
