- Welcome back to the Dream TH-cam channel, this week we're pleased to introduce you to long term customer and friend, Tim! Tim is a self-confessed Type R addict. Having owned the FK2, FK8 Pre-Facelift, FK8 Facelift and driven now an FL5 AND driven them all around the Nurburgring, we thought Tim would be the perfect person to ask about how the Type R has evolved since the FK2.

From an fk8 owner looks fk2 for me,fl5 is the best performing,fk8 best bang performance for your buck......fl5 is not 17k better but the fl5 is the best off the bunch.......I secretly want an fk2 lol.....great video ❤
I think we all have a soft spot for the FK2! Would you rather a standard FL5 or an upgraded FK8 for around the same money 🤔 Thanks for watching!
@@DreamAutomotive tough one think I’ve spent around 8k plus 28k for car you built it lol it’s pretty rapid just some fine tuning on the suspension and that’s me done….

I know the FL5 chassis got extra glue and few other changes, but I still can't shake the feeling that it's the 265 vs 245 wide tires that are responsible for the most part of the handling difference.
If one would like to do a true comparison, must take a stock Facelift FK8 in perfect condition vs stock FL5, and lap both with the same wheels and tires (the FL5 wheels)
That could be an interesting video! 👀
@@DreamAutomotive I'm waiting patiently for someone to pickup the glove. The most important thing would be to find a 100% stock vs stock FK8/FL5, to make sure both in perfect condition (FK8 is already 3 years old or worse) to use the same driver, same day, hour, conditions, and of course same wheels and tires.
I wish I could do that myself 🙂
My guess is the lap time will be super close with the same wheels and tires
The hardest part would be finding an empty test track! 😅 We'll take a closer look.

Fantastic video. Great insight as to what the cars are actually like to own. Interesting points on how Honda has listened and improved through each iteration. I own a 2017 Black FK8 and I love the car. It feels special. It's my daily driver. I live in Bath and I very rarely see any on the road at all, which makes it feel quite exclusive in some way.

Fk2 best look wise , performance wise they are all same engine at different stages which when mapped all 3 will have thesame output or very similar
Honda did make physical changes to the engine for the FL5; re-designed connecting rod, new side skirt coating, re-designed water pump AND housing, increased exhaust cooling chambers on the cylinder head as well as dual exhaust ports.
@@DreamAutomotive very minimal changes , run it with same original map fk2 come with and it will do same power , as per cooling we saw enough videos with fl5 in them with temps of 120°C water and 150+ oil so not much changed . Would like to see a track comparison of the the two but fk2 with 250mm wheels and a map to bring power in line with fl5 and a rear anti roll bar on fk2 only then we can see the difference between the two .
Love the way the fk2 looks from the rear. Love my FK8 though!

I own a Final edition FK2. I'm happy with the looks of it.

From the reviews ive seen thus far, the FK8 seems a tiny bit faster than the FL5. Probably the added weight and size
