Some stages in 3s are great, but dang, look at Elena's 2i stage, look at Ibuki's, Hugos etc. They just pop better and fit with the characters more.
I agree. I wish 3rd Strike online ended up being the ultimate feature rich Street Fighter III. I still play New Gen and Giant attack for the presentation, music, and stage. Having all of that in one game would be cool.

Thank you Justin, Matt, and Maximillian for another great episode I am also hoping that if the Capcom Fighting Game collection sells well that we will see a collection for the CvS/SvC and X-men-related games. Hopefully someone at Sega will hear your ideas and put together a collection/anthology for Virtua Fighter series, on top of the rollback netcode it would be great to have an extra feature in which we can play all of the newer games in the original/VF2 graphic style (much like JPN special edition of VF4 evo). If any of the JPN fighter game producers do decide to go with a free2play model I do believe that Sega would be the strongest contender, especially with their recent VF5 trail being such a roaring success. I was hoping for a special physical edition of DNF Duel (by a company like PixNLove) but it doesn't look like that is currently on the table. Looking forward to next week's episode.
I'm super looking forward to DNF Duel, personally. Betas were a lot of fun, I very much see myself playing a lot of it. But also, interesting note, once DNF launches we will be in a situation where we have no announced upcoming ArcSys games for the first time in a long time. They've been super busy with licensed title and their own projects for a long while. So I'll be very curious when we'll hear about their next project. I'm crossing my fingers for a new BlazBlue or Persona 5 Arena.
The situation of Soul Calibur series sadden me so much. It was my favorite series. Absolutely love it from the first Soul Edge in arcades up to the Broken Destiny on PSP who I still consider the best 3D fighting game ever published on a portable system (Switch included). Funny thing about SamSho fighters being in KoF. Back then they were actually planned to be included in KoF, it was supposed to be a team made up of Haohmaru, Nakoruru and Galford, and their team name was to be called Team Spirits or something.

As someone who's played Dungeon Fighter Online since release for 7 years, I'm excited for DNF duel. It's a shame they missed the several characters I main in the mmo.
Idk why Max of all people would be acting surprised that the casuals audience still give more of a shit for recognizable brands like Capcom and NRS. Even he’s a big fat example of that type of audience that just doesn’t like or give games like Guilty Gear a chance cause of its aesthetics and gameplay style and prefers his old school “”not anime”” fighting games like Street fighter, MvC and Killer instinct. Things change but a lot of other things stays the same, that’s how stubborn people are. That said, more than any other generation, the smaller Fighting game Dev players like ArcSys and even guys like SNK have a far brighter futures than ever before like during the SF4 dominated black hole of the 2010’s or in the 2000’s “Dark age”.
Honestly I was a bit disappointed with this episode. It was a lot of wishlisting things that could be remade, or be brought into the future, but it evaded the question of what the genre needs to appeal to audiences, what devs could change to make their games keep up and what new fg devs should take into account when making a fighting game. Also the question of whether games with a smaller budget could function as well if they focus on specific aspects, like a scaled down presentation, for example a 2D art style ala mvc compared to a AAA nrs 3d presentation and focus on modes, characters instead and how that could innovate the future of fighting games.
I would love to have a Capcom VS Capcom. Where they make a 3 vs 3 using the IPs they own. I mean Capcom started the genre they could make a Mugen like roster. And have specific "Guest" characters.
If KoF does "Team Guest", it should be Ryu, Jin, and Sol. Sol would be fantastic in KoF. Also, the upcoming Capcom collection 100% IS a test. They just don't want people to feel pressured into buying it.
Soul Calibur is such sore spot for me. Was a huge, huge fan throughout the series but it's hard to ignore the problems that arose following the release of SC3 and the waggle-fest that was Legends. While I think SC3 deserves to be as fondly remembered as SC2, being exclusive to the PS2 only hurt it's reach. SC4's competitive nose-dive only hurt the die-hards and casuals didn't stick around for Star Wars vs animu dolls. Fans of the lore were let down by the lack of in-depth modes progressing the story for the roster. Do I even need to mention SC5? Despite SC6 being a proper effort as a return to form, the damage was done. RIP, edgelords. The souls still burns for some of us, but we just have to face facts.
Okay, I know Kunoichi from DNF Duel, but who the heck are the other characters on this thumbnail? I would've figured they'd use someone from SF6 (unless this was recorded too long ago for that), or Multiversus/Project L (given Max's insistence on free-to-play being part of fighting games' future), but apparently not, and those two are just complete unknowns to me.
@@LukePS7013 Ah, makes sense why I wouldn't know him then. Saw a couple of trailers for that, but it didn't look like something I'd want to play, being so heavily based in older design, so I wouldn't know its characters on sight.
Sad soulcalibur fan here…Other than the netcode…I really loved everything about SC VI. The decision to reboot it was a no brainer. I hate that it doesn’t get as much love as the heavy hitters…but hopefully a few years down the line BN changes their mind and goes forward with VII
You should all play more Jojo’s ASBR, the combo crafting in this game is absolutely jaw dropping stuff. It took a while in the lab for it all to click, but when it does the sky is the limit. The netcode is bad, but I’ve been able to maintain a 3.00 win rate with only 2 proper disconnections.
Maybe it's wishful thinking on my part, but I think they said they were dissapointed by SoulCalibur VI's sales before they even did Season 2. They then went back on it and said that the only reason they did Season 2 of DLC was because the game did better than expected. It has sold 2M+ units so idk.. I really hope it doesn't "die" again and I REALLY hope that if they do make a VII they stop relying only on the guests and character creation because I feel like these two things have been their only marketing tactics since 2012 along with Ivy's outfit. Maybe if they double down on how amazing the lore of the series is and push it extra hard people will actually stick around?

SF EX2+ is still my most favorite SF game. Followed by Alpha 2
i want advance variable geo HD collection
I'm shocked because I saw reports that SC6 did well on launch so we're the lifetime sales that disappointing?
Can you do an episode on 2D vs 3D fighters?
SNK doesn't need guest characters. They already have the best characters.
pocket bravey is also a very promising game
Well that was cool.
Jinpachi Mishima was def playable in TTT2 from launch. Only "boss" of the game was Unknown but she was also play able. Bitch was so hard to beat.
Guest character for strive VASH THE STAMPEDE! Wait.. damn that's actually happy chaos never mind lol
Im a smash player and I really wanna learn anime fighters but I feel like it will be pretty hard learning gg when it's a year old and everyone is already good
Yeah these guys are DEFINITELY misremembering how visually appealing EX2+ looked on the ps1, especially compared to rival schools and Star Gladiator. The finishes, the excels, the super effects etc it was actually spectacular
I want an Arc Systems Works and Capcom collab for the following games:
Street Fighter Alpha 4
Marvel vs. Capcom 4
Street Fighter III: Ultimate
Gem Fighters 2
Who are all the characters in the thumbnail?
Injustice vs mk is literally all I want shit would be crazy
Akira is a perv and loves hotdogs. Sounds 90s AF
God I just want that AvP beatemup on modern consoles man
I loved EX3
would love a pokken tournament discussion and why you guys think it wasn’t very successful competitively and in arcades
Because it was on the Wii-U and arcades, conversation over.
Max "Im not that good at dragon ball" Sir we've all seen your evo moment where you came back and bodied that poor soul at EVO
