Jing Jai Market (ตลาดจริงใจ) is one of the biggest and farmer’s markets in Chiang Mai, and maybe in all of Thailand. Every weekend you’ll find a huge selection of produce directly from small farmers, mostly organic. But in addition to produce, amazing local Thai fruits and vegetables, there’s a huge amount of Thai food to eat at the market when you’re there. You’ll find all sorts of food, including some options for Thai vegetarian and Thai vegan / plant based food. Finally, along with food, there’s a big section of the market dedicated to local artisan crafts and especially Northern Thai style clothes.
It’s a fantastic market, place to go with friends or family, and enjoy a leisure morning weekend. Here are the things I bought and ate:
Red Emperor mango (มะม่วงแดงจักรพรรดิ์) - 60 THB ($1.90) per kg. - When I saw these mangoes I immediately had to stop and buy some. They are one of the best varieties of mangoes I’ve had in my life and these were huge mangoes - 1.5 kg each. A couple days later I ate one, and still, my favorite mango of the world.
Asiatic pennywort juice (นำ้ใบบัวบก) - 20 THB ($0.63) - I was thirsty and had a quick cup of Asiatic pennywort juice (นำ้ใบบัวบก), also known as gotu kola.
Lapato coffee - 40 THB ($1.27) - Chiang Mai has a wonderful organic coffee culture, and you’ll have like 10 choices for coffee at Jing Jai Market (ตลาดจริงใจ). I had Lapato, and it was fantastic.
Vegetarian / Vegan Thai food - Finally, at the back of the market, in the pre-cooked food stall area, there are some extremely friendly ladies serving Thai vegetarian food. I got some snacks, including a galangal chili dip with oyster mushrooms, green mango salad, and a mixed purple rice and grains! Food total price - 80 THB ($2.54)
    Jing Jai Market (ตลาดจริงใจ)
Address: 45 Atsadathon Rd, Tambon Chang Phueak, Mueang Chiang Mai District, Chiang Mai 50300
Hours: Saturday and Sunday from 6 am - 1 pm
Thank you for watching and hope you’re having a fantastic day!

In case anyone is interested this market is best on a Sunday. Go at around 8am. Pre-covid it's 4-5 times larger than in this video. Live music as well as face painting/finger painting for kids. Great way to spend an hour or two, and a must do if you haven't been before. My favourite food there is Lucky's Vietnamese creme caramel, and Mum Mum crispy pork! Chiang Mai is my home town.

Since January malls and supermarkets don't provide plastic bags anymore (by law). Alternative, organic markets in Chiang Mai, like this one, there is this movement of using less plastic going on for over a few years now. Lately I notice more people start using drinking containers as well ..

I’m a fan and usually watch your channel. Thank you. I like how the market is so clean and organized to keep people safe. Please put your mask on specially when talking and buying from the stands and not just let it hang on your chin. Other people would be better protected if it’s worn properly.

Everyone's commenting on how we don't know the situation in Thailand, but everyone else had their mask on properly. There has to be a reason for that and why Thailand took such great measures to stop COVID-19 from the very beginning, Mark has no excuse. Wear your mask properly.

Yes, but he could be pre-symptomatic or asymptomatic. So all mask precautions need to be taken by everyone when in a public space and breathing in close proximity to other people. Especially at a market. Let’s just hope Mark takes more precautions in the future as he is traveling more than the average person in Thailand thus increasing his risk to exposure & in turn exposing other people.

Mark, please get in the habit of keeping your mask fully on. One can clearly see that you are the only one in that market constantly removing your mask (to expose your whole face) as you narrate. This sets a really bad precedent for future travelers and visitors to Chiang Mai feeling entitled to do the same. You can continue to do quality videos and trust that people who admire your work will be just as engaged if you lead by example. Especially on this channel that focuses on healthy eating. Healthy food experiences (and shopping) should never be at the expense of public health. Safe travels & be well!

@@simonloh1855 yes but what if he sneezes on the food or even on the air 6 feet is still not that far if someone sneezes. also the mask prevents from touching his mouth and nose because food could be contaminated so that is why you watch your stuff and hands after.

Dude! Your videos are great... but wear your damn mask properly... it’s not a chin guard. Don’t be talking while your face and nose are exposed and people are walking right next to you. You’re negating the usefulness of the mask. 🤦🏻‍♂️
