    This is amazing. So well done. I think one of the most important aspects of this level of world recreation will be historic. Every day it gets easier and more accessible. Soon, anyone will be able to record their "moment in time". One day I will be able to walk my grandchildren through my 2023 home, down the streets, bars and restaurants I used to haunt. All virtually. All in striking high definition. 50 years from now, when I die, my family will still have my virtual avatar, looks like me, sounds like me, talks like me. It won't be me. But it will be a damn good representation that grandma will be able to reflect fondly on. Perhaps my avatar will tell some of my life stories. The near future is going to be insane. This moment in time is something as special as the advent of the lightbulb, automobiles, or internet. AI, virtual replication and photo real graphics will change everything.

      Yep. They are using AI right now to make old video footage high res and color. Heck, even 3d. In the future they will be using AI to turn the low quality old google maps into something super high quality that you can drive around in and explore.

    • @jimj2683
      @jimj2683 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yep, and then using generative AI to fill in all the gaps and build everything in 3d with unreal engine . It will happen one day, but I just hope it is faster than 20 years (which is what I predict now).

    • @walker1054

      @@jimj2683 They already use AI to tidy up all the buildings and stuff which is why the buildings look so sharp as if it was actually modelled. They also remove cars and stuff from the roads too which is why 2d mode has lots of cars and then 3d mode the road is clear. Just a couple more steps to tidy up the ground level and you'll have a nicely modelled map of the world to walk around in which is crazy. They could probably use street view car data to help out since they already take lidar scans of the street level and have done since near the start I think. I assume theres some legal mumbo jumbo that'll stop it though.

      EDIT: I understand now. By leave behind the google API he means to not rely on the google API or the streaming from Cesium as you have to be connected to the internet and logged in for the places to load/ stream into the scene as you explore.
      Unfortunately the Cesium meshes aren't exactly static meshes. They're drawn in real-time from coordinates and not stored as static meshes anywhere. They're full of N-Gons too.
      What may be possible with both the google API meshes and the Cesium meshes is that you could select a general area and goto file > export selected.
      I haven't tested this but it might export as obj or fbx and you'll get mesh/ texture data. Good luck though because google's textures are an absolutely shit show and need packing properly to make a reusable asset from. Check out a blender addon called 'lily packer'.

      @@MrKams1 ty for the suggestion, I enabled everything and bring up the spawn point and now its fine, looks like for some reason collisions triggers starts after some kind of delay so the character falls through at the startup of the scene

    I have been modeling the canary wharf area for a few months now, from original cad dwgs using 3dsmax for unreal, all buildings even the ones in construction phase though not yet complete
    if I cant get layout plans sections, I was using Rendrdoc and google earth, but this integration seems much better.

      I was doing exactly that for a location in my city. Renderdoc and ripped the chunk to model over and get scales about right. It helped a ton but this new release by google has really made things so, so much easier and more accessible.

    I hope someone is wokring on a plugin that uses AI to clean up the textures and maby some of the geometry so it f.e replaces trees eith actual tree models etc. That would be a dream.

    Just imagine the combination of Google maps, Unreal Engine 5 and GPT. I think GPT could render everything to high resolution by searching itself the best building of the market or tree or car or whatever.
