  • In this video, I show you how to load in the ENTIRE world to Unreal Engine 5 using a plugin called 'Cesium'.
    This plugin leverages the 3D data within the Google Maps Platform and loads it into Unreal Engine for unlimited use on your projects!
    We talk through how to load in the plugin, obtain Google Maps data and how to make the most of the technology for architectural, archviz, drawing & design uses.

    I thought that the main use of Cesium would be to save real landscapes. Can you extract the topographic data from this? And save as landscape templates.

    Hi thanks for the tutorial, can I remove or mask a section or a building and put my own building in there. It would be nice to have an environment from real location where I am making new plans for an old building

    I think I might have to take a look at Unreal Engine again. A lot of projects we deal with are in fairly rural locations though so possibly wont get the full benefit as the city examples you've used but could be useful to a degree?

    • @ArchAdemia
      @ArchAdemia  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Good point on the rural locations and lack of 3d data, double check these locations within the browser version first, I'd suggest. But, yeah still worth a try as you can control the resolution of the shot and lighting etc, no matter what 3d data is available :)

    Very cool! Congratulations on the high-value content with detailed explanation.
    Can you tell if it would be possible to take buildings from some parts of the map and use them in other parts of the map?
    My idea is to take a few buildings from a city and Copy them to a vegetation zone and animate them popping up from the ground in that area.

      I don't think so, but this video was purely to showcase its potential and availability to raise awareness, my technical understanding of such a query is limited so I would reach out to Cesium themselves.

    Can you save the landscape like a mesh and edit it / paint over it or something? Or is it just streaming the data whenever the level is loaded?

    • @ArchAdemia
      @ArchAdemia  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I think it's just streamed only, every time I turned the camera stuff would un-load and re-load.

    • @ArchAdemia
      @ArchAdemia  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Thanks for watching and for the nice comment, the only other software I'm aware of is Blender that can 'handle' this sort of thing. It's not strictly geometry you see, it's the maps data itself so it needs to be more sophisticated than just a rendering programme.

    How would you make a google api mini map in a ui window for when you're traversing? Similar to the map view in google maps, that would be fantastic!

  • @realmoonknight
    @realmoonknight 15 วันที่ผ่านมา

    The thing with renderdoc or any similar plugin is, it is impossible to capture detailed geometry when it has a lot of uneven elevation (even at max minus zoom and closeup). I tried stitching Positano bay, it was a nightmare. When captured in a large scale the geometry looks fine with textures but when you zoom in to remodel, its mostly distorted triangles. Maybe this works fine with cities on even surface and high rises.

      Under outliner, click on CsiumSunSky. Then under details of CsiumSunSky, look for the Date and Time. Change the to your timezone. It is black because there is different timezone which indicates night in your location.

    Are you saying we can create a real globe earth with real scale model?

  • @88_TROUBLE_88
    @88_TROUBLE_88 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    My question is: Since UE5 & Cesium is a modeling engine for renderug an environment in gaming (primarily) and available for commercial products such as using it for the open world environment of a game, shouldn't it be possible to package all this shit up and release it as an explorable world with all of the functionality you're presenting here, possibly even being marketed and sold as such that's optimized for a given platform, like Playstation 5 or Xbox 360 or whatever? PC / Windows 11 or possibly even Debian?
    Obviously it would require a sick fuckin internet connection, but given that's not an issue, wouldn't this be able to be packaged and written to Blu-ray as a "game" or just simply an explorable environment that's a 1:1 representation of the actual planet earth? Is that feasible?
    Would it be buggy af and therefore not worth it at the end of the day, or would it be possible to work out all the kinks eventually and have it as an executable game on a disc that could be inserted into a platform with a decent internet connection and have it render on any Playstation its inserted and loaded into? Just wondering if this will eventually be sold and someone like myself who has no idea how to do all this sorcery so that I can put it into the drive of a PS4 or PS5 and have all of the exploration abilities and ease of use built into its functionality?
    Is it something that could even be sold? I assume since it's using a commercial engine for rendering and using Google APIs and such those companies would expect their slice of the revenue, but that's an assumption on my part since I don't actually have any idea and merely attempting to anticipate potential snags that would prevent this dream (for me, at least) executable environment be commercially available for purchase so that I can fly around the world like I already do with Google Earth Pro except the environment is turbocharged and roided out like this demonstration..
    Please tell me it's coming to market soon..
    Google Earth Pro is my favorite all time app and time killer for me, just never gets old flying around Machu Picchu & Venice, Italy, etc..
    So, all bullshit aside, having this available for me to plug & play is wet dream material, seriously..

      @88_TROUBLE_88 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @JoeLouisPepsi yeah, good point, if you mean it should have an avatar or representative character on the screen that you can use to walk around the pyramids or Macchu Picchu etc

      So right now the tech DOES exist but it's years and years from being practical for game development. Of course Microsoft Flight Simulator is the only current example of this being done and even then it takes massive data centers with AI and procedural algorithms to make anything like that possible. AAA development teams at Rockstar and Sony use this as a reference for placing their manually built assets. Now I've seen people use google heightmaps for landscapes though to help create realistic terrain. For how MFS did it check out this video mini documentary. th-cam.com/video/0w7q1ZFfsxs/w-d-xo.html
