For Schumann, Beethoven was the ideal and terrifying genius in whose shadow all future generation of composers seemed condemned to remain. It was through the friendship and support of Felix Mendelssohn that Schumann developed the courage to challenge Beethoven in the arena of large-scale musical works. 8:42 Source: American Symphony
Everytime this, professional artist/illustrator/painter and pianist/composer hears this wonderful Spring Symphony, I can literally picture the flowers pushing up from the ground reaching for the sun! Schumann also paints while he composes and I love to paint to music. Every brush stroke is akin to conducting music! Art and music, food for the soul! Thank you for posting this splendidly divine music! All music comes from the stratosphere, we composers merely take the random notes and create and write another language. Peace, love and namaste~
You all prolly dont give a damn but does anyone know a trick to log back into an Instagram account..? I stupidly forgot the login password. I would appreciate any assistance you can offer me.
Magnificent! Schumann is not as easy a composer to get to know as, say, Beethoven but he's definitely worth making the extra effort! And TH-cam is fantastic for classical music. However, nothing beats a live concert performance.
True, but tickets are often very expensive for those of us who are not wealthy. I appreciate the sheer abundance of composers and periods represented on TH-cam. I would go so far as to sau that for me it is one of the most redeeming qualities of this site.
Lebhafte Aufführung dieser fröhlichen Sinfonie mit perfekt synchronisierten Töne aller Instrumente. Dieses Orchester soll viel häufiger gehört und viel höher geschätzt werden.
My favourite top 3 symphonies! Pity that I missed the performance by LSO this February. Hope there will be still a show on Schumann 1 in London in the future.
Lol triangle player during 1st mvt... and good to see lots of focus on the viola section - especially the attractive lady near the back! :) Viola parts are very busy, but the section is often overlooked.
Robert Schumann was a German Romantic composer renowned particularly for his piano music, lieder (songs), and orchestral music. Many of his best-known piano pieces were written for his wife, the pianist Clara Schumann. 21:43 Schumann's lyrical, intense musicality produced some of the most beautiful and moving lieder in the repertoire. His Dichterliebe (Poet's Love), a setting of 16 poems by Heinrich Heine, is his best-known song cycle and a supreme achievement in German lied. Sources: Britannica; NPR

Yeah ok I mean like you CAN do exactly what's written and ignore the traditional tempi in the third movement... but this is what it's gonna sound like.
Conductor, please slow down in the first movement. This sounds very clerical and dull. I've heard lesser known orchestras play this with far more spirit and fewer sour notes.
Seeing it played so well rewoke my interest from years gone bye and gave it new life like spring. Bravissimo.
My adventure with Schumann started with this symphony. His music (like Brahms's) never fails me. Thanks.
1st Movement - 0:06

This symphony introduced me to Schumann 💙
me too, apparently ...
True for me as well
I love the last movement. I was always imagining Schumann writing and amusing himself greatly with that last piece.
So lovely symphony
Thanks for your performance 👍👍👍👍

참으로 멋지고 훌륭한 영상입니다~!!
I absolutely love the triangle player's concentration.
It would be better if you could actually hear the triangle.

21:09 the chords like playful elves are tumbling down stairs ! What an effect!
Wonderful! Thanks~!
Schumann is perhaps the greatest composer born in the nineteenth century. Brahms owes him a lot.
Most enjoyable!
Bellissima!
Sehr gut, danke!

World best music symphony music
this symphony puts Schumann in the same league as Mozart Beethoven and Schubert.
My teacher: That's in alto clef.
Me: What's alto clef?
