    When Zack and Ari set out to recreate the mini bike road trip from “Dumb and Dumber,” they knew getting hold of the original movie bike wasn’t an option. So they decided to build a replica.

      You should put the bike on auction for charity! I bet you could rise a nice penny for a good cause... Just an idea :)

    I find more value in this replica because it was faithfully completed and documented at the same time. Then it was actually ridden by two of best in the industry and further documenting the epic journey. Yes! This little bike is better than the original.

    This reminds me of being a kid and my friends and I would modify our bicycles in the weirdest ways possible, except most of ours would just come apart mid ride 😂

    • @russellhelms2835
      @russellhelms2835 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ha ha ha, I actually had my bicycle fall completely apart once in mid-air! I rode downhill through my yard as a kid (pedaling faster), jumped my mom’s yard bench built up with increased ramp to launch better…and was left holding the handlebars while I watched the front tire/steering stem drop to the ground below me. The frame and back tire just dropped as well. It was a heck of a crash😂but it was the start of better bicycle mods & a whole new learning curve! Lol

    The likely reason it was running rich to begin with in the actual trip was you rejetted the carb but didn't get a higher flow filter and exhaust, so it made it that much richer when the elevation increased.

    It's a tribute build that's within the reach of most do it yourself types! My brother and I may have to try this on our channel. Although I don't think the kit would support both he and I on the bike lol as combined we're over 500 pounds, lol. But I just subbed to your channel. Going to check out more tomorrow. Just installed a 212cc with CVT in an old doodlebug. I installed the engine on a 1/2" rubber mat (in an attempt to tame the vibes) and two 1" rails for clearing the CVT. The factory gas cap would not clear, but I found extremely low profile gas caps on Amazon and those worked. So, if you are doing this, try a low profile cap before buying a tank as the cylindrical tanks be pricy.

    Having grown up in the minibike era, almost every bike maker used this design or a minor variant of it for their bikes. Changes were made to accommodate front and/or rear suspension, the Comet torque-converter drive (which your bike had, and without which you'd have never completed the trip!), fenders and other things. I had a Fox Trail Tramp with two-speed transmission and several other bikes - Honda Mini-Trail included - but my pals had Rupp, J.C. Penney, Honda and other brands. Other than the Honda, I don't think we had two of the same brand in our "gang", as there were tons of makers in those days. Now, with the absence of places to ride and more suburbs being built-up, there are fewer makers around, though those that still exist make products better than what was available back in the 70s.

    • @johnnycomelately5914
      @johnnycomelately5914 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      My buddy had a Rupp. Tough bike. I had a Grand Prix, Under powered with only a 3 HP, but had front and rear suspension. The best was the 165 Harley 2 cycle single cylinder with a springer front end, rope start (wrap around rope, not a recoil) and a belt drive torque converter like a snowmobile. I tried to look it up, and the only rope start Harley was the "Topper" scooter, but they all had Recoil start and Front Leading Link suspension, and not a Springer. This had no fairings. I'm guessing it was from the 40's or 50's and probably worth a few bucks now. We took the front end off and made a trike and threw the rest away. Another buddy had a Honda 150 Dream. I think the best was the Honda Mini Trail though. Even those came in different models. One was a 50cc 3 speed, no hand clutch and another was a Honda 70cc 4 speed with a hand clutch. Another buddy had a Honda 90cc step through. I graduated from the mini bike to a Yamaha 80cc road bike.
      Oh the good ole days....
