The free world needs leaders like yourself in these troubled times ,men with strong moral conviction ,fairness, justice and compassion. Rip in Peace Mr & Mrs Reagan
Mike B I miss him so much...I plotted a chart of devolution from Reagan to Barry O. By my calculations we will all be amphibious blobs of protein by 2025
What a President....... I wish we had him back to lead this country. I'm a proud US Marine. We go into battle to protect our brothers, but when we have that kind of man, a man of leadership. We fight harder.... not like the disgrace we have in office now.
Thank you President Reagan for a very moving and heartfelt speech about what happened now 72 years ago on the western coast of France, "Lest They Be Forgotten."
As Memorial Day is tomorrow I decided to start watching speeches regarding the men who died for our country and freedom. When Reagan teared up, I started crying.
George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, Theodore Roosevelt, Franklin Delano Roosevelt, Dwight Eisenhower...and Ronald Reagan. The greatest Presidents the US ever had. Reagan was tough, principled, and noble, possessed of a great sense of moral good and justice. He ensured the preeminent place of America as one of the leading nations of the world, and for his strength he was respected and honored. When he spoke, the world listened. When he acted, the world took heed. RIP President Reagan. God bless you, sir.
All Americans should make a point to watch this speech. Important leadership, talking about critical core values that make our country what it is. Those of us who have inherited this country and are flat out lucky and should be grateful for the sacrifices of the people honored here. And for what Reagan himself gave us.
In my heart of hearts I so miss this kind of leadership. This is a man who loved his country and believed in us. I am sure he wrote this speach himself and felt it in his very being.
Well it is now D-Day plus 70 years, 30 years from when this particular speech was given. I remember seeing it on the TV at the time, it choked me up then, and it still chokes me up today. Funny, how this is the only speech of D-Day that I want to think of today, certainly none that our current leader will give. I am very moved by the kind and generous comments I see here as well. I too have very fond memories of President Reagan, he brought real hope and courage to an entire nation. Once again, he made us believe in America. One other thing I remember, he was always able to put s humorous quip into a speech somewhere along the way, something that told us we were all humans we all had the same needs and desires. RIP President Reagan we still miss you today.
Thanks for posting this wonderful video Wyatt. It's so refreshing to see and listen to a real President again. Never have I been more concerned about our country then I am now. We really have a fight on our hands this time. Who would ever of thought that our most dangerous enemies would be from within our borders. Thanks again my friend.
This speech is so so touching. It brought tears to my eyes like that. This speech is the best speech that has ever, ever been made. I am so thankful for this country and all the great sacrifices that have been made so we could live peacefully. My Great Uncle Harold fought in World War 2, and he was my idol or still is. He died around 10 years ago. The Nazi's were cruel and hard to defeat, but the strong American Rangers took them down, and I'll tell you it was probably the hardest thing that has ever been done. All those men died just for us, think of it they died just for us so we could live a good life, so we could see a brand new tomorrow. I am so proud that I live here and I am especially proud of the men who died for us. We will always remember, we will always be proud, we will always be prepared so we may always be free. Amen
Good Day to all! President Ronald Reagan was the greatest U.S.President in U.S.History! We love President Ronald Reagan from all of our Hearts¨My Deep Respect for you Mr President!!TG.
I've always wished that I could have been old enough to remember his Presidency for myself. He was not only a great President, but also a man of extraordinary character. and most importantly, he loved his country dearly. He was the last great American President.
Reagan was so genuine, he got a bit choked up in the last few minutes talking about Pvt Zanatta(sp). A heartfelt speech from a leader this country will never see the likes of again.
True class and heart felt words. Strange how things have changed thirty years later. God Bless these brave men who are slowly fading in to the sun set.
Not sure of the cause of my tears. It is either:a. Our former President's speech and His touching stories of our soldier’s and their families and the sacrifices paid not to mention the heroism of that fateful day. b. Remembering a time when we had a true leader serving as our President of the United States. c. Understanding that at this time in 2010 the number of surviving soldier’s of D-Day is shrinking. Teach your children about this day & our past. d. All of the above. I know the cause..d
JFK: "Let every nation know, whether it wishes us well or ill, that we shall pay any price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any friend, oppose any foe, in order to assure the survival and the success of liberty. This much we pledge-and more."
Americans are liberators not conquerers who came to return what was wrongfully seized. Sounds very different from "I know that in the past America has been arrogant". I wish we could have a President who loves America the way Reagan did.
he meant what he said he believed what he said you can tell he didnt just go there as a favor to them but because he was humbled by those mens actions and felt he owed it to them at the very least
Each time I hear this speech I say to myself ''this time I'm not going to cry '' but I always fail When Reagan starts talking about Private Zonata (I probably butchered that name) and his daughter Lisa I loose it. The letter she wrote to her father just makes me weep.I wonder if Lisa Zonata is still alive today? If not, I hope she's with her father in the great beyond.
America has voted for a president who is the exact opposite of this great man. What are we thinking??? Anyone who speaks poorly of Reagan has no character.
I may agree with with your statement but Ronald Reagan would be the first to support their dissent... our history allows voices from all corners....that is the American way... not a single thought and a single voice
"And though I denounce fascism and hate the soviets, some communists aren't so bad. The Chinese aren't so bad, in fact, I intend to encourage the transfer of our entire industrial infrastructure to China within a decade. So, with the family farm destroyed and the manufacturing base gone the people will have no choice but to turn to the government and demand communism and the welfare state, and it will surely start in California. So, I guess I just shot my own ideals in the ass."
How can anyone dislike this video? Even if you dislike Reagan, the Republicans, or the US, you must admit that this is a very powerful speech.
Touching to see President Reagan's voice cracking with emotion, and his eyes filling with tears. God Bless him.
One of our greatest Americans. This man was a leader. We miss him.
Best president ever. No other president could make a speech like he did.
We will never forget Normandy.
The free world needs leaders like yourself in these troubled times ,men with strong moral conviction ,fairness, justice and compassion.
Rip in Peace Mr & Mrs Reagan
Ronald Wilson Reagan is still MY president and always will be

One of the greatest speeches of all time
Thank you President Reagan for a very moving and heartfelt speech about what happened now 72 years ago on the western coast of France, "Lest They Be Forgotten."

We will be hard pressed to ever find another President as great as Ronald Reagan. RIP, you are truly missed..
Principled, courageous & a strong advocate for American values. A man who believed that right makes might. Our last great president.

I thank God that I was born in 1977 so I could experience this Great Man as President. God Bless Ronald W. Reagan!!!
Without question, one of the greatest leaders the world has ever known. Thank you President Reagan for making America great again.
All Americans should make a point to watch this speech. Important leadership, talking about critical core values that make our country what it is. THIS PEOPLE IS A PRESIDENT..............
Now that's a leader!
I love this man. I wish all the vets well on this coming memorial day. This President is gone now but he will never be forgotten by so many.
I belong to India and Reagan is my favorite leader. I wish we had Reagan for India. Great president and greatest leader!
a speech from the heart and a man of honor
The best president of my life time
God Bless Ronald Reagan! I hope you get to meet the ones who gave their lives that day! God Bless America! RIP Ronald Reagan!
We miss you! Your dignity. Your honesty. Your love of country. Sadly, we now live In a time when our leaders have none of these things. We miss you!

Right on everyone. When he speaks I feel like the essence of our forefathers is still with us.

+Al Saulinsky God help us.

I've always wished that I could have been old enough to remember his Presidency for myself. He was not only a great President, but also a man of extraordinary character. and most importantly, he loved his country dearly. He was the last great American President.

God bless President Reagan and the thousands of men who fought at Normandy.
True class and heart felt words. Strange how things have changed thirty years later. God Bless these brave men who are slowly fading in to the sun set.
Mr. President.
Well said!
Rest in peace Ronald Reagan I will always remember you.
one of the best presidents to lead our country
True Statesman.
When Ronald Reagan walked up to a podium, America commanded respect.
Extraordinarily moving.
Awesome, just freaking awesome!

What a man... so sad he is gone.
I sure miss Reagan! Thanks for posting.

Never Forget Always be Proud Always be Free !!!!!

At 6:31 is when the story gets personal, and if your not in tears, then you are not AMERICAN
And look what we have now, the Chicago community organizer. There are no words that express how much I miss Uncle Ronny.
he meant what he said he believed what he said you can tell he didnt just go there as a favor to them but because he was humbled by those mens actions and felt he owed it to them at the very least
The Great Communicator. Everybody else, especially in today's world, is a clown by comparison. I wish he could be our President again, we need him.
THE President. Don't worry everyone, one has to go through a Carter before we get a Reagan.
I think I care more about this one speech alone than all of the ones given by the current ninny in chief.
fool
Patrick Vida Why is he a fool? Because he can recognize the insincerity and BS Obama spews out and says so.
Each time I hear this speech I say to myself ''this time I'm not going to cry '' but I always fail When Reagan starts talking about Private Zonata (I probably butchered that name) and his daughter Lisa I loose it. Fantastik speach!
Last Conservative president we've seen :(.. People would call him a tea party idiot nowadays... forget the boom...
HUH - no teleprompter.....
I don´t know if it´s true, but I heard he and Nancy prayed in private at a concentration camp, and that he cried silently when praying with Nancy.
Stark contrast between RR and BO.
This was a real spech, unlike the garbage we hear from our current disgrace of a president!
I may agree with with your statement but Ronald Reagan would be the first to support their dissent... our history allows voices from all corners....that is the American way... not a single thought and a single voice
Obama doesn't even know where Normandy is since it has no golf course.
That french guard at the end.
Look.... no teleprompter.
What would Obama say?
"And though I denounce fascism and hate the soviets, some communists aren't so bad. The Chinese aren't so bad, in fact, I intend to encourage the transfer of our entire industrial infrastructure to China within a decade. So, with the family farm destroyed and the manufacturing base gone the people will have no choice but to turn to the government and demand communism and the welfare state, and it will surely start in California. So, I guess I just shot my own ideals in the ass."
And yet FDR presided over World War II....But this guy is acclaimed for giving a speech on it for 40 years later?
The best president of my life time
