As an American Ranger I am deeply honored to have served under THIS Commander in Chief. God Bless President Reagan, a man who loved his country, believed in democracy, had genuine pride in our military, a rugged faith, and an unyielding vision of our country as the "shining city on the hill". Always remember 6/6/1944.
Not since The Gettysburg Address has a US president spoken so eloquently about the extraordinary sacrifice of ordinary men who looked death in the face and responded heroically. Thanking God on this 70th anniversary for those men and this President.
H.W. Bush having just heard this Speech, simply asked his friend "Ron" - "How could you give a speech like that, in front of those men and not break-down, in the middle of it ?" - His answer, because I am the Commander-in-Chief ...
As I was watching this it hit me that President Reagan had 20 years to live. It's sad that so much of those remaining years would be taken by sickness, yet we still had him with us. In my lifetime there has never been such a Man who has made me feel as Proud to be an American as President Reagan did, and still does. He left us all a legacy worthy of remembering and an example to fallow. God bless you Mr. President.
I am so proud to have been born at a time when America's President actually displayed BOLD, outspoken leadership; not only that, but at a time when America's first lady actually had some class. God Bless you Mr. and Mrs. Reagan! We need leadership like yours now more than ever!
Visionaries rarely are recognized in their own time..Reagan was an exception to that rule..His leadership guided the greatest nation in the history of humankind from one period to another..He understood his calling to duty and America's place in the world..Thank God for Ronald Reagan..and thank God for Freedom..
I doubt we will ever have another President in my lifetime with his honor, integrity and strength. Most certainly it will not happen this election year.
Ronald Reagan was the first President I ever voted for back in 1980. I was a naive kid at the age of 18, who really did not know much about politics. Still, whenever I heard the speeches of Ronald Reagan I felt a sense of pride at being an American, which I had never really felt up to that point. As time progressed throughout the 1980s, I saw the resurgance of a naiton that had been beset by chronic unemployment, economic distress, and turbulance abroad. I so miss you Ronald Reagan. R.I.P.
his speeches are so amazing. you can't help but feel pride as an American whenever you hear him speak... pride that someday we'll feel again when this country can get it's priorities straight again.
I'd almost forgotten what it was like to have a President who genuinely LOVED America and all she stood for. I say "stood" in the past-tense because, unfortunately, under our current "leadership" she no longer stands for those things. It's been a long time since we've had a President like Reagan. We need another one, and soon. Before it's too late to save the country, and the entire world spins into tyranny.
Good day to all:We love US.President Ronald Reagan from all of our Hearts!!President Ronald Reagan was the Greatest U.S.President in the U.S.History.Thank you Mr President!
When one hears and sees Reagan deliver this speech, the paucity of the intellectual and moral courage of the current administration is starkly revealed. Where is our next Reagan?
Actually when I first made that comment I had a lot of faith in Trump. However, recently he's rubbing me the wrong way. Now, He just sounds like a big mouth who is just full of hot air. Obviously we need to make america great again, I just don't think he's the right man for the job. I want to believe we'll have a president as great as Reagan, but I don't see it happening anytime soon.
+Jon Michael Halsey he is the right man his speeches aren't always the best but at least they aren't fake! He is a wonderful man that brought America out of our hole we have had no hope until he came around
Oh, for the likes of a President of this caliber again, one with integrity, faith in God, in his brave soldiers out there fighting still, for liberty in their countries, and a belief in the people at home, supporting all efforts!!
In a few short years we have down graded from this great, noble sole to a man who can't even put his coffee down to salute this nations finest. We need another Ronald Reagan NOW...
+Jeff Legg I doubt we will ever have an American president. With the number of American hating people living in America, not many people will vote for America's best. Everyone is thinking about his home country or himself. Saudis are buying America through Hillary and democrats and some republicans.
The greatest pres of the 20th century. Sure is a contrast to now. He was right, and it was well worth all the work i put into my small role helping him get elected. I watched this when it was going on, was very impressive. And he was right about the men who fought at Normandy.
One of the greatest speeches ever and on this the 70th Anniversary of D-day we should all listen it and remember how brave these men were and thank them for what they did. Thank you to the greatest generation.
"...The Rangers looked up and saw the enemy soldiers shooters shooting down at them with machine guns and throwing hand grenades. And the American Rangers began to climb." Rangers lead the way.
Reagan's speech gives credit to all of the Allies. Few American presidents, scholars, or laymen have done the same. For this, I will always respect him.
President Reagan's love for his country, all Americans and his hope for freedom are all ideals to which we should always aspire. Thank you, President Reagan!
Reagan had a fine grasp on history and a true appreciation of great literature. He knew what he wanted to say and he said it from the heart. Will we ever see a President of his caliber again?
The Reagan years were the greatest in my lifetime. I remember so many times watching his speeches on television, and being disappointed because some liberal media commentor would mute the sound on his speech, and pan to themselves and begin 'explaining' to the public what their interpretation of what he was saying. I would be so outraged, I would turn on the radio to hear the rest of his speech. I am so glad the Reagan Library has preserved all his speeches. He was the best President.
I was honored to meet him and shake his hand in his LA office. An American original for sure. No president is perfect to all sides. But he inspired so many at a very gloomy time in our history.
Reagan was president as I was becoming a man. I learned so much by watching him as president. He knew and predicted back in 1961, that socialism would happen only 50 years later in the US if we allowed incrimentalism and quit teaching the young what a great place the US is and the greatness of her founding documents. I feel a tide turning back toward emphasis on the real truth and power that those documents hold. God Bless the USA and all who believe in her. RIP RWR. My hero. MJG
I still remember this speech about the 40th anniversary of d-day to remember those people who died to defend and protect our country and to keep liberty standing high in this processive nation so we give our hearts to those who fought and to those that we remember to this day form this memorial speech
Simply one great president which come once in a life time, This was a great speech and truly a day to remember. Thank Mr president and hope we as a nation can remember how these men fought and died for us.
Paulie - Thank you for this touching tribute to a great man. You echo my thoughts exactly. We need a President who loves his country, is proud of the military, humbly believes in a Power greater than himself, and defends the principles of the Constitution. We need a President whose agenda is not about his own ego but about the continued growth of a free nation. Ronald Reagan was that man and our nation was blessed with his presence and his leadership. God Bless him, and God Bless America.
i woke up at dawn and ran from grandcamp-maisy through the norman countryside on memorial day, through the wind and rain, up and down a bucolic countryside belying the violence that descended upon such a beautiful land. arriving at the pointe du hoc observation post in driving rain on memorial day was the most memorable thing i've ever done in my life, rivaling everything i did in the united states marine corps, even afg. god bless human rights and those who paid the ultimate sacrifice!
Can you imagine Obama giving a heartfelt speech like this giving such a thoughtful & thankful tribute to those that gave their lives for his freedoms ?
It takes a bad president to appreciate a truly great president. President Reagan if your listening up there, we are lost as a country and need some help down here. Help us find our way back.
up until this point (6 June 84) Point-du-Hoc had been been less than a foot note in the history books. When you mentioned the Normandy Invasion people thought "Utah", "Omaha", "Juno" or "Sword". President Reagan helped give the boys of the "Point" their fair share of the glory and their proper place in history. And on a side note I think the memorial at Point-du-Hoc is rather fitting, simple yet very powerful. Also the area, to this day, still bears the scars of the invasion.
He was a great politician and a fine statesman. He was a great man because he was a good man. The first president I ever voted for and the best of my lifetime.
What a man, what an American, what a President!
As an American Ranger I am deeply honored to have served under THIS Commander in Chief. Resident at Omaha Beach (Normandy) since 1970, I have had the honor to be present at this ceremony. I was 14 years old...and I remember again.
And once we had a President we could be proud of, and who made us proud to be an American.
Yessir!
This Canadian salutes the US military and easily the greatest president in my lifetime.
H.W. Bush having just heard this Speech, simply asked his friend "Ron" - "How could you give a speech like that, in front of those men and not break-down, in the middle of it ?" -
His answer, because I am the Commander-in-Chief ...
This is what a real American President is about. God Bless
What a speech? Only Ronald Reagan could deliver it. We miss him.
As I was watching this it hit me that President Reagan had 20 years to live. It's sad that so much of those remaining years would be taken by sickness, yet we still had him with us. In my lifetime there has never been such a Man who has made me feel as Proud to be an American as President Reagan did, and still does. One of the hardest missions ever to be achieved on this horrible day, this is a moving speech and is definitley worth the recognition.
I heard this in 1984. I volunteered, went throught USAF OTS, and was commissioned a 2Lt in the USAF a year later.
Reagan remains the greatest President in my lifetime. May God Bless all who sacrificed so much on the Normandy beaches to keep us free. /salute
I am so proud to have been born at a time when America's President actually displayed BOLD, outspoken leadership; not only that, but at a time when America's first lady actually had some class. God Bless you Mr. and Mrs. Reagan! We need leadership like yours now more than ever!
"We will accept nothing less than full victory." -Dwight D. Eisenhower June 6th, 1944
Thank God for Ronald Reagan. God have mercy on our nation.
President Reagan, you are missed deeply. God bless you. Wish we had a President who loved the U.S. as much as you did! You are the best!
Visionaries rarely are recognized in their own time..Reagan was an exception to that rule..His leadership guided the greatest nation in the history of humankind from one period to another..He understood his calling to duty and America's place in the world..Thank God for Ronald Reagan..and thank God for Freedom..
The best speech ever - he tells exactly what we believe as patriotic Americans.
My God, do I miss him so....
As fine a speaker as President Reagan was, in my opinion this is the greatest speech he ever made.
The Great Communicator. No TelePrompTer. No shrill shouting. Just plain great words and leadership!
Man what a leader.
I doubt we will ever have another President in my lifetime with his honor, integrity and strength. Most certainly it will not happen this election year.

God fearing individual. Ronald Reagan.
his speeches are so amazing. you can't help but feel pride as an American whenever you hear him speak... pride that someday we'll feel again when this country can get it's priorities straight again.
One of the greatest speeches of all time.
A man who represented Americanism in its best form!
I'd almost forgotten what it was like to have a President who genuinely LOVED America and all she stood for. My Commander in Chief. A Real Man.

great speech , from a great american , about all the great american men and women who served ! we need a man like that today !
When one hears and sees Reagan deliver this speech, the paucity of the intellectual and moral courage of the current administration is starkly revealed. Where is our next Reagan?
I knw Ronald Reagan. Donald Trump is no Ronald Reagan.
Actually when I first made that comment I had a lot of faith in Trump. However, recently he's rubbing me the wrong way. Now, He just sounds like a big mouth who is just full of hot air. 31 years ago today. Not so long ago. Noble and honorable. How quickly and how far we have fallen.
Oh, for the likes of a President of this caliber again, one with integrity, faith in God, in his brave soldiers out there fighting still, for liberty in their countries, and a belief in the people at home, supporting all efforts!!

there has never been a moment when words have been spoken more truely.
Except when Jesus Christ walked the earth, "Of Truth's own word, there can be no true token."
Ciaran Ryan yeah you got me. ill give you that one
***** you got that right.
That's the olden days when we use to have a President who didn't support the enemy.
Now....That is my idea of an American President. Someone like him will never pass our way again.
Trump is just like Regan
Trump is just like Regan
God Bless those who keep us Free. May we still have leaders like Reagan and Eisenhower, once again.
Will there ever be rulers with such level of citizen dignity?
Great speech. Thank you, rangers!
President Reagan's love for his country, all Americans and his hope for freedom are all ideals to which we should always aspire. Thank you, President Reagan!
Never heard this speech before, as a Democrat, this is a good speech.
Incredibly moving. Certainly one of the best speechs in American History.
God bless you, President Reagan.
Reagan had a fine grasp on history and a true appreciation of great literature. He knew what he wanted to say and he said it from the heart. Will we ever see a President of his caliber again?
If only my grand kids could live under a president like this.; a man who love this nation and the traditional principles that made it great.

God I miss him. This is one of the best speeches ever spoken. People need to get this message out
RIP Ronnie
I was honored to meet him and shake his hand in his LA office. An American original for sure. No president is perfect to all sides. But he inspired so many at a very gloomy time in our history.
President Reagan was the best public speaker among all modern presidents.
Thanks for bringing down the red wall.
Greeting from Czech rep.

It's nice to remember when America had a good and decent man as our president.
Simply one great president which come once in a life time, This was a great speech and truly a day to remember. Thank Mr president and hope we as a nation can remember how these men fought and died for us.

Amazing, made me well up at points. A true leader, unlike the mess we've got now.
Can you imagine Obama giving a heartfelt speech like this giving such a thoughtful & thankful tribute to those that gave their lives for his freedoms ?
Anyone who voted this down had to have been dropped in their heads as children and they aren't worth knowing.
THE.GREATEST.PRESIDENT.EVER!!!!
God Bless President Reagan!
I don't like politics but damn this man has a nice voice. One of the best speeches ever.
It takes a bad president to appreciate a truly great president. President Reagan if your listening up there, we are lost as a country and need some help down here. Help us find our way back.

He was a great politician and a fine statesman. He was a great man because he was a good man. The first president I ever voted for and the best of my lifetime.
Now that's a President
