I was looking for this bringing back memories how I had a hard time passing my massive 1979 Trans Am with 403 Olds engine and Q Jet Carb. I used this stuff for 6 consecutive years following the instructions well and never failed again.
Emission tests are ridiculous and irrelevant which is why they stopped doing them where I live. I'm a retired Class A mechanic. There is NO way to accurately measure what cars produce-- a part may malfunction intermittently, readings fluctuate on a minute-by-minute basis- you might fail the test if you took it later the very same day. And the worst offenders-- vintage cars, buses, trucks, heavy equipment and planes, etc., are exempt. You can own a brand new 'zero-emission' vehicle and it still may fail the test-- and the emissions you produce driving around, buying extra gas, paying to have a mechanic drive it around and test it-- well you do the math. Not to mention the parts we throw into landfills that were still working and causing negligible damage to the environment-- geez. I ask you. One more example of 'chickens-with-their-heads-cut-off' environmentalist alarmists who can't see the forest for the trees.
same, only part of my state does emissions tests, so I changed my address to a friends house next county over that doesnt do them, and just have the mail forwarded to my real address XD
I just had three tests done on the same day and all were very different. Plus the requirements became stricter here in Colorado so my two year ago pass is now a fail.
This worked on my vehicle. P0420 was diagnosed a year ago. Kept on driving and multiple erases were conducted but light kept coming back on. I tried Cataclean that did nothing except slightly better gas mileage. I failed imy NY state nspection and light was still on. Finally I tried this while shopping at Autozone because of the bold "double your money back guaranteed to pass" label. Well guess what, I put it in with less than half a tank of gasthen drove it till nearly empty than filled tank next day and shortly after Check engine light turned itself off. Went to inspection and passed. Note, I filled my car with premium gas from Stewarts Gas Station which is Non-ethanol gas when choosing premium. Total miles driven before light turned itself off was 183 miles, and yes I had reset trip odometer to zero before pouring in bottle into gas tank.
It definately lowered Hydrocarbon but raised the NOX on my 95 nissan pick up. Still not enough to pass, turning my truck in to the mechanic so he can figure it out. I also seafoamed through the brake booster vacuum hose so not sure which worked. GTP might work. Update, 10-21-2022 did seafoam thru brake booster again and new iridium spark plugs and wires. Barely passed.
Usually, it's always the catalytic converter. On my Regal GS, I have the ZZP 3" downpipe for regular driving, but when doing emissions, I go back to the OEM downpipe with an oversized 3" magnaflow cat. If close, you can just get a new upstream oxygen sensor.
In the early to mid '90s, I owned a '76 Granada (302) with 160k miles on it. I'd always use this a few days before smog testing. It produced amazing numbers.
I'm actually really glad i saw this comment because I just bought a 88 crown vic for a daily but it failed the smog. It also uses the 5.0 302 engine as well. Sti'll I'm going to change the pcv and egr valve and add this in as well
@@kanob6440 About a month ago my wife's 2015 Hyundai all of the sudden started running rough. I figured it was a clogged injector. Got a bottle of GTP, ran it, the car is running smooth as glass and the CEL went out. The stuff really works.
I was skeptical but this legit worked for me. I just passed my emissions after trying to pass since last September. This product stopped my engine light from coming in. The repair shop wanted to charge me $2000, saying I needed two new catalytic converters and $1000 to fix some air leaks, but GTP got all my monitors ready with no check engine light or DTCs. Don't get discouraged if your lights come on before you finish the tank of GTP. You have to drive until you use the whole tank. Just reset and keep driving. I used one and a half bottles of GTP.
Thanks for saying not to get discouraged if the light comes on. It happened to me last night after driving 15.4 miles & I did get really discouraged. So now I realize I've got a lot more gas in the tank to do it's work. I wish the guys at the garage had told me that but they were really busy & at least recommended GTP before telling me I need an expensive repair. Will this work for a egr valve code? Because I replaced years ago but the car has been sitting in the garage for a year. Took it to emissions saturday it failed due to readiness just wanna make sure this product is going to work. I plan on using tomorrow
most the time EGR code is a plugged EGR and those are a pain in the butt to clean, or a air leak before the cat. [in my case my EGR code was due to rotted out manifolds.]
EGR systems are circulatory, and run from the exhaust to the intake. There are tubes that the EGR gases go through. Your issue is likely due to those passages clogged with carbon. You will need to figure out how to clean EGR Carbon passages from your particular vehicle. Which is different from engine to engine. Try to TH-cam it.
I have an 87 econoline e-350 RV with a big block 460, I'm willing to try anything to help me pass CA smog test. It's been sitting for about 5 years, I need all the help I can get.

I'm confused on my situation, I had a check engine light before, and gave me a P0420 code I then replaced the 02 sensors then after a few days of driving check engine light went away on it's own. But I still have the code without check engine. And it says Permanent. What should I do?
P0420 can be a dirty cat or downstream o2 sensor. You shouldn't have replaced the upstream sensor at all. P0420 is a dirty cat, clogged cat, or downstream O2 sensors is fouled up. My car threw a p0420 on my benz the drive shaft snapped it was clinking around under my car as I pulled off the road. It dented my catalytic converter and most likely damaged the honey comb on the inside some prob crumbled to dust and grit and clogged it up. Now I have a p0420 threshold below bank 1 sensor 2. On my car I have dual cats my bank 1 cat is the passenger side and the sensor 2 is downstream. If you still have the code try this stuff or try the rislone cat cleaner they sell at AutoZone, ad if neither of these cleaners work then take off your catalytic converter and clean it on a bucket of detergent water like Scotty kilmers video on How to clean a catalytic converter
Try and disconnect the battery. Remove the negative battery cable for like 15 minutes. That should reset the computer, then drive it until the readiness monitors complete.

Hey I have a code P0446..: will this help ? My check engine light is on and I have a Chevy Malibu 2004. I just replaced my gas cap and still same issue, thanks
Your code pertains to an evap leak. This will probably not work because this is a cleaner. Your issue is possibly a loose connection in your exhaust system...at the exhaust manifold or exhaust pipe connection where the manifold meets the exhaust pipe. Try tightening the manifold stud nuts and it should solve the problem
In my experience and tearing down my engine, sea foam in the tank cleans a bit of fuel contaminates in the tank, it doesn’t help much with fuel injectors oddly enough, and as far as I can tell, the cylinders seem mildly untouched.
@@alexanderblogs3555 depending on your states process. In some states they will fail you if you have an engine code light on, regardless. Other states, like DE will actually connect to your tailpipe and test the emissions. A tailpipe test you should pass, but not the OBD2 scab test

Like most cars, the issue of them not passing emissions is probably a much deeper or more complicated problem. This stuff might work for 20% of minor emissions failure cases, the other 80% if you have BIG stuff wrong with your car, it's not gonna correct the overarching problems nor even get you to "skate by the test", which is the goal for most people obviously.
No, those pertain to evap leaks. The P0442 is the purge valve near the throttle body. Could have a vacuum leak. The P0456 is a small leak in your evap system. Could be loose bolts/studs that hold the exhaust manifold. This cleaner only cleans components.

I know they are going to stick the probe up my tailpipe, I just hope they are gentle.
What car are you testing and mileages?
Chevy Trailblazer with 5.3L V8, about 185,000 miles at time of the video
@@PhillipsVision thx for the reply
The bottle says to add to a 1/2 full tank.
so where does all those contaminants go when they get removed from the engine?
But does it clean catalytic converters
Cataclean would work on catalytic
Will it work on a 95 JDM Mazda RX7
I don’t see why not
I have a 2013 corolla with the check engine light. I took it to get a diagnostic and it told me it was the catalytic converter I live in California and the car was originally sold new in Texas
I found that Lacquer Thinner works good if the catalytic converter is not too bad. Here’s a vid I did showing it
th-cam.com/video/sIc0u9o_IG4/w-d-xo.html
I might have to check this out
It’s worth it
Perhaps the centers equipment is not calibrated properly.
I need your help. Where are you located. I’m in Milford De
What do you need help with?
Would it work on my 370z with CEL on due to random misfires code P0300 on and off? I can't figure out what's problem? Thx.
Probably not, misfires often pertain to your spark plugs, cables and ignition coil packs. Those will require diagnosing and possibly replacing part(s).
hey the code I get is this: P0440$10 Generic 1/1 EVAP system 1/2 Pending
Do you think using this and then reseting my car will work to get it to pass? Also, I'm gonna look up some more information on the code but do you mind sharing a little info or tips about it? Thank you!
Would it help if you have long tube headers?
So im gonna fill my tank up then add the stuff the ride it off (by doing Door Dash) ? Got it
Think itll help since my cats got stolen? I know legally they cant make that claim but will it work?
No, this is only a cleaner. You’ll need to replace the cat
@@PhillipsVision so it does nothing to make your motor pollute less while it's in there? I do know that some snake oils will actually cause a check engine code lol
All these types of products will do is clean some carbon build up.
These types of products cannot fix a mechanical problem.
Duh. We’re just trying to pass our emissions
@@FreeSpiritMomfr
If it frees up a stuck valve or lifter I would count that as fixing a mechanical problem.
I can’t pass emissions and I have no engine light on the results read rejected today due to incomplete readiness monitors/ incomplete monitor fuel.. Would this product help?
Did you disconnect your battery recently? That can cause that issue and cause you to fail. You need to drive about 100 miles to allow the computer to generate some readings
Will this work on an 87 Suzuki Samurai I just failed my CA smog.
It should as long as there are no mechanical issues. This is strictly a cleaner. Is your Check Engine light on? If so, do you know what fault codes?
@@PhillipsVision no engine light, leaking, fresh oil change, fuel, and air filter, and new carb. Everything passed the visual and the functional, just failed the emissions part.
@@macreal65 this product should work
Did it work, did you pass the test?
@@Antonio-os7eh my carb needed adjusting and every place I've taken it to that does smog and car repair do not smog vehicles with carburetors or fix them. I love living in a state without emissions laws
Must be nice
Where is that!? I'm sick of California.

This stuff is good to use as a fuel system cleaner anywhere. It has a large amount of PEA the same stuff that's in Techron. I put it in a quarter tank, then warm up the car get on the highway a punch it for a few sec then repeat a few more times. Stuff is amazing. Best on the market.
Wait 'til they legalize weed 🙄
Would this work on a mustang GT 1995?

Hi my check engine light is on on my camaro 2010 v6 manual…. The codes are POOO8 engine position system performance and P0496 evaporative emmision system high purge flow. What do u think????? Please text me back
It says right on the box a half a tank not a full tank
to drive until your tank empty is nuts 😊
If you want it to work, you have to follow the directions
LOL. I'm a licensed state inspector. In California about 95% of the cars wouldn't qualify for guarantee of this product.
Thats because you're supposed to throw your car out and get a new one to save the environment
@@misterbulger the car junk yards sure are preserving the environment..
Where u at? Lemme see if you are right about that 🤔
@@misterbulger EXACTLY!
You suck, boot
I'm confused on my situation, I had a check engine light before, and gave me a P0420 code I then replaced the 02 sensors then after a few days of driving check engine light went away on it's own. But I still have the code without check engine. And it says Permanent. What should I do?
Did you clear the codes after replacing the sensors? Always clear them after fixing the issue that way if any new codes come up you know they are new
P0420 can be a dirty cat or downstream o2 sensor.
Can you run that stuff if you want to clean up the inside of the engine ?
I don’t see why not, it focuses on several components as opposed to other cleaners.
I don’t have enough money to fill up my tank can I use it on less
The directions are specific in order for it to work properly
@@PhillipsVision thanks for the reply. For cataclean you are supposed to run it on almost empty tank so I just did that with this one will it still work ? Thanks for the long reply
@@drewtorre7717 I would follow the directions exactly as it says on the container. I don’t have the container anymore so I can’t say for sure. Just make sure to use it as called out by the manufacturer
Drew Torre...have at least 1/2 tank of fuel ..& run it to almost empty then put any amount of fuel you can afford 👍I'm a 35 year Auto Tech & have used this in my customers vehicles for several years now
@@stevedeleon8775 ...I have a 2002 tundra , I used 2 bottle total . And no luck this time . The light came back at about 480 mi.
Damn didn't watch this video first I have a p0420 code already on the dash. I haven't ran the tank through yet but hopefully it'll work if not... well California screwed me again.
This should help your issue, unless your O2 sensor(s) or catalytic converter as completely bad and need replacing.
@@PhillipsVision I'm unsure I just bought it used and that's the only issue with the car. I suppose I just need to drive it a bit before panicking.
@@sleepwalking117 yes, let it do it’s work. Worst case scenario you may need to replace things
@@PhillipsVision did u ever pass?
@@stephtrendy yes
Will this work with a P0420 code with good O2 sensors?
It should, but if the catalytic converter is real bad it will need to be replaced
I would stick with marvel mystery oil for fuel treatment
What state?
So did you drive a whole tank of gas in one day or in a couple days?
One day in order to complete the test
Man you must have drove 500 miles in one day then. Lol
Hey Phillips! Does Seafoam treatments do the same effect for the entire system? Like does seafoam get 02 sensor,Cats, and engine cleaning?
I have never used it, but have heard some negative things about it.
In my experience and tearing down my engine, sea foam in the tank cleans a bit of fuel contaminates in the tank, it doesn’t help much with fuel injectors oddly enough, and as far as I can tell, the cylinders seem mildly untouched.
I have code UO164 HVAC will it still pass if I use it ??
No, the code you are getting is not emissions related.
@@PhillipsVision so if I use it and go take the smog test it won’t pass it
@@alexanderblogs3555 depending on your states process. In some states they will fail you if you have an engine code light on, regardless. Other states, like DE will actually connect to your tailpipe and test the emissions. A tailpipe test you should pass, but not the OBD2 scab test
If your getting a o2 sensor code that means your efficiency engine dropped at least 5% in a gm so that don’t make sense if this cleans and helps make a car efficient???!’n
Ok, I am having trouble... I had to replace the engine in my Cruz Limited a friend put a used, good one it because it was cheaper than totaling the car... but tons of oil, burned or maybe not, like 2 years ago almost... Will this stuff help me... I don't know how bad the Cat is, it doesn't look or smell bad but my O2 sensors have been replace and it's a really expensive repair for me because it's illegal to get them used in NYS!
If you have an oil issue, this will not help. This is strictly a cleaner, not a sealer
Being a government required test, it could be bad testing equipment at the state run testing center. Just saying.
I tried this product 3 times. And it did NOT do the job. Never again.
I drove 496 miles in one day to empty the fuel tank, still throwing the P0430 code. These things are snake oil in a bottle.
The P0430 is a code for bank 2 catalytic converter inefficiency. Chances are you have a bad 🐈.
Won’t fix a bad 02 sensor. My 07 4Runner threw that code. Used high end scanner and found faulty reading from bank 2 02sensor. Voltage was incorrect
You have a faulty O2 sensor(s). Read the statement on the bottle about that. P0430 code problem with 02 sensor(s).
It's a 50/50 chance of working..
I have a 2005 jaguar 3.0 6cyl. S type
With the check engine light on.
And codes P0442 & PO456 coming up
Will this additive help me?
No, those pertain to evap leaks. The P0442 is the purge valve near the throttle body. Could have a vacuum leak. The P0456 is a small leak in your evap system. Could be loose bolts/studs that hold the exhaust manifold. This cleaner only cleans components.
My 88 300e Mercedes barely failed, I used this and my car failed worse
if its a 88, clean ya car up really good and get it classified as a Classic. most states exempt 25 year old+ cars if they are classified as a classic. did that to my old S10. bought a tub of fiberglass patch puddy, filled in all my rust holes, gave it a really good sanding, gave it a rattle can paint job with a high gloss clear coat finish, and detailed the inside real good, and registered it as a classic car since it was 28 years old. inspector knew exactly what I was doing when I replated it as a classic, but he couldnt legally stop me XD.
Either all DMV look alike or that's the Dover DE one lol
That is the Dover one 👍
What if I don't have check engine light can I still use it
Yes, but if the ecu is not acknowledging an issue how do you know it needs cleaning?
@@PhillipsVision I don't know..I just want the car to run smooth as before
Trying to pass a motorhome this way would cost a grand 😢
My truck has 34 gallon tank, I'm about to take a huge loss selling it in a state that is the standard for emissions in yes you guessed it California!!!....Low miles, just a modified intake, catalytic, and no EO stickers, having stickers on thier way solved half of it!!, this should help a different cat, and whatever else un detectable!??....unforeseen issues on a new out of state vehicle!!
This seems kind of useless imo. If I already have a check engine light....it voids everything. I have a brake sensor code and I'm still failing.
Does it turn your check engine light off? Lol
If it’s a sensor that is causing it to come on...yes, it will shut It off
Glad I dont live in one of these states ..
Sometimes it's even by county too
Gas was so cheap a year ago
