Posting here a bit late... but thanks for the review and I have to say I love my VSlinger bag. I carry this with me everywhere, every day and have done a number of 10+ mile day hikes comfortably. This is a small pack but I find there is room for all the little gadgets, doodads and supplies I like to have with me at all times. With all that being said I'm only 5' 6" and find it's a great fit for someone of my stature. Thanks again Krik and keep up the good work.
+Randy Bear How do you carry water when you are out for a 10+ mile hike? Bladder or bottle? if bottle do you attach an external bottle holder? One last question. With the pack loaded for a 10+ mile hike does your shoulder get tired with all the pack weight on one shoulder instead of two like a conventional pack. Thanks Randy.
In my opinion, they're designed for the same purpose. I was very impressed with Vanquest's quality. I wouldn't put one above the other in regards to quality. It just comes down to personal preference in the design. -Krik
The watch is a pretty cheap Timex. I don't even know the model. I just wanted a digital watch that had an alarm and stopwatch. Thanks for watching. -Krik
you are correct Antonio! they are releasing a backpack based on the javelin that is 20 liters. we should have one of the first ones shipped out and a video following shortly after it. thanks for watching! - stony
I'm the first to thank you for sharing this GREAT video. It's always a pleasure. Orange inside a bag it's a good idea...The other brand maxpedition should do it too! I'm waiting for your next video. @+ Fred
(2 of 9) Before you purchase another piece of Maxpedition gear, you need to know what kind of organization you are supporting: Google “EDCForums Maxpedition” and see how the company treats others. Do you like NSA-style monitoring? Maxpedition has had a NSA-like program since 2008 monitoring bloggers on EDC Forums (read the thread titled “Maxpedition”).
(6 of 9) Yeah, Maxpedition is THAT CREATIVE, and SHEEP like you just keep reinforcing that misconception! Ever wondered why Maxpedition bags are NOT sold in other Asian countries such as Japan, Taiwan, or Korea? Because Max’s Daddy (Magforce) won’t let them! Magforce OWNS Maxpedition designs, and Maxpedition is at best the marketing branch of the Magforce brand. You must be new to the block boy, because everyone in the industry knows that already.
(8 of 9) Frank, if you were sent here by Maxpedition, STOP LETTING THEM CONTROL YOU; if you know someone from Maxpedition, tell them to focus on marketing, PR, or whatever they do best instead of HARASSING other bloggers. If after years of financial success, a corporation still reacts so insecurely and maliciously every time a new company pops up, something is SERIOUSLY wrong.
(3 of 9) Just recently, someone (allegedly) got caught (again) sending an anonymous message from the same Maxpedition IP (oops) to the EDCF admin smearing the forum for selling “substandard Maxpedition knockoffs”. Maxpedition used to be BIG on EDCForums until the owner of Maxpedition did something incredibly stupid and got booted from the Forum! Search “EDCForums Maxpedition” and read it yourself; it’s all public.
(5 of 9) Google “Magforce Hard-Use Gear” from Republic of China (Taiwan): Magforce designs and makes Maxpedition gear. Magforce sells nylon gear in China and other Asian countries, and usually months (or years) after Magforce launches their products, Maxpedition will re-label some of the more popular models, jack up the price, and sell them to the ignorant. Don’t believe it? Go to Magforce’s official site, and you will see Maxpedition’s 2014/2015 products.
See, you know how to slide the bag to the front by providing slack in the strap. Theres another heavy set guy doing the same type review but says the bag rides to high and makes getting into it difficult. (Other guy does not know how to loosen the strap) Your video is so much better...
RamBow Mike I'm glad you found the video helpful. I try to be as thorough as possible. But that's what's great about TH-cam - there are plenty of reviews to watch. And, as you pointed out, not every piece of gear will work for everyone. We are all shaped differently. Thanks for watching. -Krik
(4 of 9) Google “Maxpedition torture test”. If Maxpedition really is “HARD-USE”, how come their gear is made of cheap generic nylon that falls apart during torture tests next to other less expensive brands? Maxpedition gear is NOT made of higher quality DuPont-invented Cordura, but they remain perfectly silent when reviewers mention their gear as “made of Cordura”. I guess Maxpedition is waiting for some major lawsuit to hit one of these days huh?
(9 of 9) I am sure many would love to see a corporation that focuses time and resources monitoring / harassing individuals get sued and be out of business, don’t you agree? Now go do your research, and correct me if I am wrong. If I have offended you in any way, I apologize in advance.
(7 of 9) How ironic: a company built on the perception of “HARD-USE” and “innovation” is actually in the “re-labeling, marketing, and PR” business. Maxpedition is DESIGNED BY THE CHINESE FOR THE CHINESE; that’s why their $150 slingpacks are so uncomfortable, and only LOOK GREAT in Hollywood action movies. Come on, don’t be embarrassed; we all know some sucker who bought the Kodiak or Sitka just because it was used in Michael Bay’s Transformers (a.k.a The Twilight Series for boys).
(1 of 9) "It's a complete knock off of a maxpedition Kodiak, just designed differently" Seriously, Frank Anyon, how can a product be designed differently still be a complete knock-off? If the Javelin is a knock-off, and beats Maxpedition gearslingers in every single head-2-head review, what does that say about Maxpedition’s quality? Were you sent here to intimidate those who review products that are not “approved” by Maxpedition?
It's a complete knock off of a maxpedition Kodiak, just designed differently... These companies need to get more creative and stop stealing ideas from others and making it there own
thanks for this review... the comments below I could have done without. still searching for the perfect sling bag
I've been waiting for a good review of this pack, thanks Crick!
I really like your reviews! You've got a unique look and I'd like to see you do more reviews! Keep up the good work!

You're welcome Dusty. Thanks for watching. The beard should come in handy when old man winter arrives in town. -Krik
Thanks Lance. We have more reviews on the way. Stay tuned! -Krik

Hey, right now VANQUEST TACTICAL BAGS are coming out with a new version of the V PACK & I heard there making a little bigger.
you are correct Antonio! they are releasing a backpack based on the javelin that is 20 liters. we should have one of the first ones shipped out and a video following shortly after it. thanks for watching! - stony
Are you to be reviewing on that one?
yes!
Looks like it would make a great camera bag, like you said. Any chance they'll lower the price on it?
