As part of my travel to Kenya, I made it a point to explore Mombasa. Mombasa is a coastal city in southeastern Kenya along the Indian Ocean. It was the first capital of British East Africa, before Nairobi was elevated to capital city status in 1907. It now serves as the capital of Mombasa County. The town is known as "the white and blue city" in Kenya.
Come with me to explore the amazing street food, restaurants, culture and beaches on Mombasa.

My name is Jasmine and I have relocated from Sydney Australia to Ghana in west Africa as of the year 2020.
My parents are of Ghanaian descent and so am I although I was born in Australia. Here on my channel, my goal is to give you a real glimpse into what it’s like to live in Ghana and other parts of Africa, from the food, to the culture, to the lifestyle and everything in between. My goal is to satisfy your curiosity about Ghana and other African countries.
My prayer is that these videos do just that for several African’s in the diaspora.
Follow your bliss because life is short, follow your bliss because human life has no intrinsic value, follow your bliss because everything happens for the greater good and follow your bliss because it has all happened before.
The guy that said " hey baby , welcome to Kenya" thank you for representing coastal men. Smiles...
Wooow will definitely visit Kenyan one day 🥰🇬🇭🌍❤️
Karibu
Now I hope you understand why the entire Kenya landscape is so unique with white sand beaches, blue ocean, wildlife safaris and beautiful capital city etc. As a Kenyan living in London sometimes when I watch your type of vlogs I feel like packing up my bags and heading home.
Our home never disappoint I miss my country also ❤
Kenya the pride of Africa❤❤ mombasa my city❤❤
Kenya our heritage, kenya our pride.Proudly kenyan.
Too much Indian influence
That is where swahili community originated from a mix of Bantu speakers and Arabs@@BlackCatholicGirl
Fort Jesus.
@@BlackCatholicGirlArabs are more there.
Mombasa seems like it's in a different country when compared to Nairobi. The old architecture is really beautiful. The newer developments are like any other modern building.
The Swahili food looked really good too at such affordable prices.
Kenya is impressive.
Thanks for sharing.
Yes right @aceejekwam6829 Mombasa is a coastal town on the coast line ,Designed by UNESCO to give the historical significance same with Oman 🇴🇲 Zanzibar and Maputo
@@Ulfy305 Thanks for sharing.
See my beautiful sister enjoying Mombasa
Yesoo 🙏🏾🥰
Yo bro Nappie long time,I remember some years ago when you toured Kenya and did some very good videos.I hope all is well with you.
@@JC-ty3zq yes sir all is well! Hoping to visit coastal kenya very soon
I loved mombasa Everytime I went to Kenya 🇰🇪 ❤ wonderful city ,nice and warm, beautiful beaches
If you thought the waters in Mombasa were clear wait until you get to DIani water so clear you can see the sea floor and sea creatures at low tide nearer the shoreline.
The mango snack you had iat the beach is sun dried semi ripe mangoes coated in a sugar baobab powder and food colouring syrup. I wish you had gone inside Fort Jesus so much history there.
l am so happy that one of my favorite Ghanian youtuber has finally come home to visit, it feels good when your own sisters and brothers from the continent visit and enjoy your motherland.
Jasmine you really look good in Kenya. You should stay longer and go back and explore more of Kenya.
Wow, some of the foods and snacks are the same as in Guyana, from the Red Mangoes, the Green Mangoes with pepper and salt we also pickle the green mangoes with pepper/salt/vinegar or lime/lemon juice), the coconut curry fish (or coconut curry anything). Kenya looks great thus far.
That's because we have a similar history of Indian presence in the country as Guyana and Trinidad. The AfroIndian community in Kenya are as a result of indetured servants being brought over from India by the British more than a century ago. They brought their foods and language which have been adopted into native Kenyan culture. What you guys call Pholourie we call Bhaji za dengu we also eat daal and our version of pulao again thanks to the Afro Indian community they are actually the 44th tribe of Kenya
@@Dialove24tell us name of restraunts with such FOODS..
Yes Kenya and India are just separated by indian ocean@@Dialove24
wow i can’t wait to visit Kenya, i think it would be great content for my growing channel ❤ thanks for showing us 😊
You are most welcomed.
Wooow! I was there in October 2023, I didn't want to leave 🥲. Beautiful place indeed 😍
Wait until you go see beaches in Diani, Watamu Malindi or Lamu. Those are superb ones
I am so happy that you are visiting my hometown Mombasa. Coastarians are very friendly people please remember to greet us we love being friendly and welcoming we are known as the friendliest region in Kenya. They are probably used to seeing a lot of TH-camrs in old towns, so they are not staring. Also happy that you are eating from Local joints, where you will find authentic Swahili food.
A lot of tourists and visitors to Mombasa mistake Old Town Mombasa with the entire city of Mombasa. Old town is the oldest "city" in Kenya. In modern times, it's very old and neglected but it existed as a beautiful city as far back as the 800s. (not the 1200s, not the 1500s not the 1800s, but the 800s). The not-so-beautiful places you see in Old Town are not what you find in the modern parts of Mombasa. With that being said, we Kenyans love every place in our country. We have everything the good, the bad and the ugly from the ultra modern to the sketchiest, the hottest weather to the most freezing, the wealthiest neighborhoods to ghettos, slums, and beautiful rural countrysides. We are proud of our motherland and treat all visitors with respect thats whywe are the only country in Africa where you'll find people from all over the world. Long live Mombasa and God bless my country Kenya.
You're very friendly but very lazy at the same time.
@@jamesmisaro6828just tormenting MUZUNGU FOR BEGGING.
Kenyan Somalis are natives to Kenya, they are one of the tribes of Kenya, they are from northern part of Kenya. Also it’s very likely the people in coastal Kenya are just Swahili people
Wish you went do Diani... Best beaches in the world.
Came across this channel few days ago My city My town, you get everything and anything you want here. Too bad you left early, but the grind must continues, from a different perspective I see what you doing and its good, Africa is full of love, development and resources all we need is unity ❤❤
They're is a swahili saying that translates to " Coming to Mombasa is a wedding and leaving is a funeral." Everyone is always sad leaving Mombasa including me😢😢
Why have I been waiting for this episode like this is a tv series.. hooked .. awesomeness job...
Aww ❤
I am loving these Kenya 🇰🇪 vlogs.
Thanks Kay xx
Mombasa my home, thanks for showcasing my town. Welcome once more
Kenya is so diverse continue exploring it, if you want the best mangoes visit our Eastern parts of the country (ukambani areas) they have the best and sweetest mangoes, next visit Kisumu city it's a lakeside city same size with Accra, then visit Nakuru city which is our second city with a national park after Nairobi (it also has a lake)
What’s the size of Accra?
Come on Kariuki. Accra is not the same size as Kisumu which is the third largest city in Kenya after Nairobi and Mombasa. A little bit of Wikipendia would have easily informed you that instead of intentionally dispersing misinformation.
Accra is a much larger city. How it equates to Nairobi can be debated
@@stevenjenga7171 . Im not going to challenge your claims. Because I don’t banter ignorance
Karibu kwetu dada jihisi uko nyambani welcome again love you

Yea I can recommend Diani I was there last month .it was breathtaking with white sand so beautiful
Yeah! Definitely Diani, Kisite Mpunguti and Shimba Hills gave me a whole different respect for Kwale county
Your stylist really understands what how to make you shine!
Aw thanks. I am my stylist haha xx
Enjoy my country and feel at home 🏡 Jasmine. I love Ghana as well and her people.
Public beach has fewer people on week days.. weekends it's very busy
I love the way you gave us a clear view of Mombassa! Some people don't present enough content but you did exceptionally well! Because of your video I will definitely visit Mombassa! I just can't wait to get back to Nairobi! Best friend, where are we traveling to next? You have a professional presentation and your videos are flawless! Much love from the States!
Aw so happy to hear xx
@@JasmineAmaamangoes are actually seasonal so the very ripe ones that are sweet will depend on the season. They are definitely there.
Glad to see you exploring Africa in your own way. So gorgeous
Whenever i see Jasmine's videos i feel happy ❤😊 keep enjoying yourself in our beautiful country 🇰🇪
Wow amazing you stayed in La Mera I used to stay there for a year I really loved it … and yes Sunday’s are too crowded especially the public beaches
You should come back to Kenya someday. You do it twice and you're hooked. There's a reason why we call the city MOMBASA RAHA. We have had many fellows who left our neighborhood to visit the coastal city and never came back. The story is replicated in all parts of the country. They say it's only death that takes you away from Mombasa.
MOMBASA RAHA!(MOMBASA IS FUN)
WOW! 😯
The natural scenery of Mombasa is breathtaking. The way the greenery contrasts with the beaches and the blue of the Indian Ocean is... 😯👍
The traditional architecture of Mombasa is where it's at. The Swahili coastal cities are a hub of beautiful culture and history.
I heard Swahili cuisine is really good, is it true?
Keep showing the beauty of Kenya.
P.S
I love the Swahili language.
Very true indeed...you should travel there sometime
A very nice video! Mombasa is nice and a cool place where we as Kenyans normally go for vacation to just relax our minds before going back to working mode... if it was the festive season, it'll be popping... i really love Mombasa for sure ❤
I love your outfit sweetheart, thanks for taking us along, beautiful view and food looks yummy 😋 😍
Thanks for promoting KEs economy.
I still watch your videos you shot in Mombasa ❤
Welcome back to Kenya again.
Jasmine Ama is one vlogger who can attract both mature and young subscribers because of her composed nature and eloquent way of talking, explaining just like a good teacher does to their students. Some vloggers can annoy you with unnecessary laughter and giggles while others are super hyper talking like a typewriter would sound and this is so annoying. Keep it up Jasmine. - Kenyan watching you from London, UK.
Passion fruits are grown in plenty in Kenya, hence the availability of fresh passion fruit juice.
Oh that makes sense xx
Great content ✊🏿🇬🇭✊🏿
i even salivated as you were biting the mango 😋😋 it slaps different when you are from kenya lol
🤣🤣 it was so sour
Old town my friend, am glad you crossed it to the other end safely without an incident. Welcome back again to Kenya
I rarely enjoy vlogs but your channel is exceptional. Enjoy Kenya and welcome again and again.
Thank you so much! X
@@JasmineAmaa You're much welcome.
Mombasa is much more fun.seems you only did mombasa town. Next look for local to show you around. Go to Diani beaches, mama ngina drive,English point marina, kilifi, watamu, malindi there is much much more.
Next time you're on the Kenyan coast you may want to stay in Diani. Cleaner, more upscale and suited for tourists activities that you may want to do in a coastal area.
Thank you for such a nice video trying Kenyan street food and old towns 👍
A very short visit! Next time Lamu and Diani beaches. They are so beautiful!

kenya come a long way from not allowing filming to a total turn and being a big tourist attraction
Our ghana is very behind ooh. We cannot compete with these countries in the east but at least we are better than our loud noisy neighbours in green and white. this loud neighbours are the ones dragging us behind. I wish Kenya and Uganda was our neighbours

It’s because Kenya recently voted in young bright leaders who are up to date with the benefits of adopting to new technologies like embracing advertising the country through TH-cam.

Hello Jasmine, good to catch up with you, if you have time try South Coast too, the beaches are much cleaner and the resorts are amazing and don't leave Mombasa without trying some Pilau rice . The sound was distorted today couldn't hear a word you were saying. Watching from the UK 🇬🇧Enjoy and take care.
I will add to my bucket list! Thanks for sharing Jasmine 👍

Jasmine, your TH-cam presentations are very well presented and edited. You're very professional and you seem a likeable person. Kudos 👏 and continue the good work.
Thanks so much ❤️
Great Jasmine
Kenyans really love visitors. Those weren't ripe mangoes that is why they were kind of sour. A few more days and your mouth would be exploding with sweet and hot flavors. I hope you were going to Diani.
I noticed they were popular. People sold those green mangoes almost everywhere lol
@@JasmineAmaa They eventually turn yellow on the inside and are very juicy.
Also I don't think it was mango season otherwise you would have been split for choice especially with AppleMangoes literally taste like a cross between mangoes and apples
Hmm ,I had curry chicken with roti for dinner today . You've now motivated me to make some tamarind drink 🙂. It's delicious, healthy and works like roughage . I've noticed the foods both street and gourmet are similar to foods you would find in Guyana, interesting! I love the beaches. Thank you for sharing!
Love what you doing ❤❤
