      Why do you like VisualPolitik? For what I've seen (mainly in the Spanish version), they aren't doing anything new or innovative. Their perspective is pretty much identical to that of the Economist and other mainstream western media outlets. Not that there is anything wrong with that per se, but, given that there are already a thousand others informing from the same POV... I just find them uninteresting. One of the reasons I love your show is precisely that, you add a novel perspective on global affairs.

      AIIUserNamesInvalid they can because the Chinese government is not on good terms with southeast Asian countries whilst India is and India already has a naval base in Singapore and there Chinese navy is not allowed there because of the escalating tensions between those nations

    • @samanvithveeravelli7512
      @samanvithveeravelli7512 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      AIIUserNamesInvalid is see what you mean but I’m not talking about singnapore I mean Malaysia,Philippines,Indonesia,Vietnam,and Taiwan and Japan all are on bad conditions with China and together they could match the Chinese navy along with the India navy
      And add to that that China doesn’t have an aircraft carrier whilst India has one and the Chinese navy is one of the most corrupt forces in the world and the Chinese military even said a statement that said China’s war efforts will be severely harmed by rampant corruption amongst officers and soldiers in navy, and army
      And the Chinese navy has a lot of bad equipment and the Indian navy has a lot of world class equipment fit for western nations
      And India’s bhramos missile which is the worlds fastest missile could intercept any Chinese naval force and not face a single threat by the conventional designs of Chinese ships
      And Singapore probably not even do anything I’m just saying that cuz China doesn’t have any naval bases in that area of the ocean while India could quickly mobilize the ships there
      And to top it all off there is massive Indian population in Singapore and most of Singapore’s Chinese are refugees or people who fled China in the 20th century and have not affiliation with China while most of the Indians are expats who have lots of family in India and have some sort of patriotism to India
      And India can choke the supplies because China has no reliable naval assets close to the Indian Ocean and the Indian navy is by a long shot the strongest force in the Indian Ocean and no every single island landmass and country in it and add to that the fact that India also has an advanced warning communication and radar network throughout the ocean that can warn them of Chinese whereabouts
      So there Indian navy could counter it and also many southeast Asian nations have been starting to look away from China especially because they wanna stay on America’s good side and China and America are in an economic war right now.
      So that ”Indian pipe dream" can easily be turned into a reality so shut up and get your facts right

    • @samanvithveeravelli7512
      @samanvithveeravelli7512 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      AIIUserNamesInvalid dude you do realize that no one cares about proper punctuation in the TH-cam comments section
      And also most of China’s submarines are tiny Soviet era subs
      And also you do realize that I have nothing against the Chinese navy but they don’t have the power to extend into the Indian Ocean to defend their trade routes there.
      To top that most of those Southeast Asian countries would be willing to go to war if somebody were to back them up.
      And your also forgetting that in the event of a war the USA would probably support India and it’s allies that way it can get rid of its debt to China.
      And I’m not Indian, I American
      And the Indian navy is not weak like you say it can hold its own against all but a few navies.
      And your forgetting that China lacks a supersonic cruse missile effective and accurate enough to pose a threat.
      I respect China but they really are bullies and have turned a lot of countries against themselves. And also running China would mean these countries would become debt free to the Chinese and what happened in Sri Lanka wouldn’t be repeated again.
      You seem to be a very well educated person and I respect your argument with upmost honor.
      Thanks.

    But it is amazing how fast China has replaced Pakistan as no.1 rival in the minds of the Indian public, especially the youth. Gone are the days of Hindi chini bhai bhai. Asia will be the center of the next cold war and geopolitical struggle between the 2 Asian giants, India and China.

      It won't be the next cold war per se - the gap between China and India is too big compared to the US/USSR. And in the next generation it will only increase. Though India can align with other countries fearing China like Japan, South Korea etc.

    No solution, no end in sight -- that is an astute conclusion.
    The geo-political situation is more complex than mentioned. India opposes China's South China Sea claims, India has naval docking faclities in VietNam. India is selling arms to VietNam. India is pushing China our of Sri Lanka, and Myanmar. Kashmir has gotten more tense.
    Lastly, the reports assertion that China has a game winning military advantage is wrong. China's military is weaker than it likes to admit. China would have great difficulty supporting a protracted conflict in Bhutan or Nepal.

      While it is true that China doesn't send its soldiers on UN peacekeeping missions, primarily out of a lack of confidence that the establishment has in its military, they have overcompensated with a rapid military modernization, the likes of which, I haven't yet seen.

      @@ashutoshsharmash The Chinese soldiers in South Sudan on UN peacekeeping mission abandoned their post, weapons, and innocent Sudanese civilians at the mercy of Islamists in 2016. If not for Indian Peacekeepers a lot of men, children would have been killed and women would have been raped. The Chinese lost to Vietnam in 70s even after outnumbering them in terms of weapons and soldiers. China lacks battle experience which cannot be compensated with any amount of money.

      A mixture of topic (geopolitics is large and VERY complicated so while most people should care few do), dynamic (hasn't landed a viral hit yet) and the lack of any obvious bias you mentioned. Reality is that while everybody politely agrees that reporting should be unbiased many have grown up and live with certain political realitis that don't necissarily hold up on a global scale. But many still (sometimes even without their direct knowledge) just want their political views afirmed and not actual accurate reporting that might force them to imagine different world views that might clash with their reality!

      The author seems under estimates China's seriousness about this situation. When Indian sent troops to territory that doesn't belong to India and not leaving after so many warnings, what do you think China will do? Also, a territory treaty is a territory treaty (Convention of Calcutta). You can't randomly find any excuse and say I think the treaty is imperfect thus we don't follow it. There are so many international border treaties in the world. I believe every single treaty is imperfect to some people's interest. If everyone doesn't like the treaty can deny it freely, then the world would descend into chaos. Why an author w/ the insights to so many geopolitical issues he claims, doesn't even understand the fundamental value of international treaties?
      And if Doklam was not Chinese territory at 1890, why do you think the British would sign the Convention of Calcutta treaty w/ Beijing and not some other governments? BTW, by the time the British finally came to the region, the government in Beijing (no matter Yuan, Ming or Qing dynasty) already been controlling the region in one way or another for a few hundred years. India simply makes a claim of Chinese hundred years old territory (in this case, India doesn't even have any excuse to make that claim so it just force some country never got involved in this matter and thus signs no treaty w/ China to make the claim) out of nowhere then send troops into the region saying it's become disputed territory because of the claim. This is pure invasion. And the Author is making the same tricks in his video which is also shameful.
      And the claim of the border between China and India is following the highest altitude is a lie. In Aksai Chin, India is pushing the border over the Karakoram Mountain range. Also, there is no treaty or any kind of agreement ever exists between China, British or India saying the only principle of the border line drawing is altitude. The history, ethical, geopolitical effects cannot be wiped out by a single sentence. Can you redraw the border between the US and Mexico or border between Russia and Ukraine saying I think the border should follow the highest altitude or following some river? That's insane. Is the author @CaspianReport really this naive about international borders, or he is trying to mislead the audience w/ his obviously biased narrative?

    China has border conflicts with 35 countries !!! It is more than the number of countries it shares its border with. Problem is that China tries to muscle it neighbour since it is most strong but it did not expect India to challenge its authority by entering into Bhutan and deploying military to stop constructing a road in Dokhlam.

  • @kartoos9402

      I don't think anyone is "correct". Just large countries fighting over a mountain to geographically checkmate each other's ambitions. I've heard of other cases where countries fight over tiny pieces of land based of 2 hundred year old poorly written treaties.

    • @kanishk890
      @kanishk890 7 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      The stand-off is actually because china breached the status-quo and started building a road on the plateau . A disputed piece of land overnight became a 'sovereign territory of china'. A simple solution would be for both countries to back-off and return to status-quo ,before the dispute blows out of proportion. But then again its quite impossible considering the fact that china and to some extent india are currently running high on nationalism.

      ninmachine109 Even without watching the video to can tell it's China, China has a history of claiming/conquering everything claimable/conquerable :
      1. Mongolia
      2. Manchuria
      3.Inner Mongolia
      4.Xinjiang
      5.Tibet
      6.Hong Kong
      7. Macau
      8. Taiwan
      9. 90% of South China sea
      10. They have squabbles with Bhutan (edited), yes......with TINY Bhutan (edited)
      Why do they make these claim....."historical reasons"... China is a very aggressive nation. I'm confident that if they were the most powerful nation on earth they would be (edited) way worse than USA....actually never mind they won't, they won't have any allies, they'll just turn out like Nazi Germany.
      DID YOU KNOW? China believes they are at the centre of the world?

    Winning this possible war, whatever the size of it, hugely beneficial to India. First, it shows the world that China is not super power as many politicians thought and bowing to China. Second, all these South-Asian countries welcome an India which just showed its strength. Third, as a result, India will take a huge step to become a new world power, now it is just a regional power. A negative consequence would be Pakistan, which will move even closer to China, but this is what is happening already. To sum up, India got a great chance.

  • @PrimoPete
    @PrimoPete 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Here is the crux of the situation.
    China in an effort to steal land from a small country are quoting a piece of inaccurate geographical treaty.
    The treaty which itself was designed by the English who have mapped borders and caused stife all over the world. Classic Brits.
    But the Chinese never expected India to actually defend Bhutan, because well, the Chinese have in the past quoted inaccurate non-facts to bully other smaller nations and steal their land and India backed by pussy ass regimes have not always responded.
    But no, not this time, India was direct and its government under more decisive leaders and more belief in its military decided to intervene and the Chinese are flabbergasted coz now they are stuck between a rock and a hard place, they expected an easy land grab and now are facing an experienced and a battle hardened military who have defeated them twice while CCP leadership events in China are a coming and Xi Jinping and his cronies have to show something out of this bullying tactic.
    But unfortunately for the Chinese, the Indian army are not even remotely similar to escaping unarmed Tibetans who can be shot easily by untrained chinese.
    Their unwilling conscripted chinese soldiers who serve for hardly a few years and are probably a result of the Chinese 'One Child Policy' know that if they die, their whole bloodline ends on that very spot. They do not want to even participate in a skirmish with a volunteer Indian army where soldiers serve for decades on end and have the experience of recent mountain warfares and in Doklam have the advantage of terrain.

    Both countries should stop fighting. People stop being so racist. This is over a road and territory in the mountains. Everyone should be ashamed of themselves. Solution would be for the Chinese to move the road further north and blast a hole through the mountains from the north side. Indian troops then can withdrawal. Extreme Nationalism from India and China is ridiculous. When I was in college. I met a Chinese and Indian guy. They were both ultra nationalistic as fuck. Indian guy wanted Pakistan to be with India. Chinese guy wanted Tibet and Taiwan to be with China. Yea, being a Chinese descendant from Singapore, these disputes are so silly. Everyone is fighting in South China Sea and fighting over silly mountain borders. Human greed is ugly.

      And building road is initial part of capturing parts of any country for China.

    • @animeweng
      @animeweng 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      No the road goes to Bhutan not India. Haven't you read the reports? Indians trespassed into Chinese territory to stop road construction into Bhutan. Idnians don't want to see their sphere of influence of Bhutan falling under Chinese economic domination. They don't want Nepal and Bhutan falling under Beijing's sphere of influence. The whole thing is a political game.

    • @animeweng
      @animeweng 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      No. The road goes towards Bhutan, not towards India. Indians have concerns that the road is too close to them. They apparently do not like strong countries building roads close to their border because they are afraid of invasion.

    Nice unbiased video!
    A few more points...
    1. Although Chinese military is stronger, Indian military is currently on higher ground. A skirmish will cause heavy loss on Chinese side, even though they are more likely to win.
    2. Winter would start soon and then it becomes very difficult to fight in Himalayas. So both sides are trying best to force other to back off before snowfall begins.

    India is not a saint here.. It has disputes with all its neighbours.. India supported Tamil Insurgency in Sirlanka to make the small country its vassel state while Sirlanka asked Pakistan to help them.. India recognized the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan while whole world opposed it, Soviets were killing anything that moves or anything that goes against them in Afghanistan. Indian was a Soviet Union ally in South Asia while USA, China and Pakistan were against them... India has imposed a blockade on Nepal which has caused a big food crisis in the poor country which is landlocked... There are 5 different seperated insurgencies in India like Kashmir, Nagaland, Assam and Khalistan in which they have killed millions of people... In 1971 India imposed a blockade on East Pakistan which is present day Bangladesh which caused a massive famine and the people turned refugees went to Indian border for help, India help them but also armed and directed them to go back and fight for a seperate state, this caused a civil war in East Pakistan(bangladesh).... INDIA'S ROLE IS SAME LIKE THAT OF RUSSIA AND CHINA WHO ARE AGGRESSORS!!!

    India occupies the territory of China. The first reason was to protect Bhutan's territory, but later Bhutan claimed the territory belonged to China. Now India is not going to pull out because it would be humiliating and not daring to go to war, knowing that it would be a terrible thing to die
