Only thing badder is a SBC1 Iron block set at 500 inches. Big Difference between my blown 421 and blown 500 inch. A bit easier to do with a Dart Little M or Dart Iron Eagle, than with a SBC1(as I call them) I can't believe it's been forgotten about. Sonny Leonard did it for years, as did Jenkins.
The sound of music!! I had a 383 blown small block in my 1965 Chevy 4x4, It was a beast! Can you please design an install kit for my Smart fortwo...LOL
I have a question because I figure this is the place to ask it, why does half the blower community (who still stick with carbs) claim that you dont need boost referenced carbs/boost referenced power valves, being that this a draw through application. While the other half says no there is no need for boost referenced carbs. I ask because whether it's my VW with a draw through turbo setup or my camaro that has a blown small block in it, neither of my applications have a boost reference. Do people do it for driveability/tunability is there a significant gain I can get if I do convert my carbs over? I would greatly appreciate any response and thankyou for your time.
so making sure the throttle blades are shut and adjusting IAB size would fix the surge? At what point of overlap would you say is "Wrong" for a blower?
After I do a burnout my motor wants to turn off. Runs out of gas I'm thinking. I've been told it could be timing, float bowl level, fuel pressure. Where do you think I should start. 427 BBC w/6-71 drag car only. Any help appreciated.
You basically want as big of carburetors as you can use, within reason. Since the carburetors are your restriction the bigger they are the snappier the throttle response will be because the blowers rotors can immediately start grabbing air. You get to a point where you start sacrificing drive-ability because it'll be "too snappy" with too big of carburetors, so you just have to find the in-between you like
im going to try hard to get my dream car its a vega with motor like this im hoping ill be getting money im surpose to get soon and me and my bother going to be running a business soon which will be good money coming in if all goes right im getting that vega and motor like this
The surge is a lean-rich-lean-rich-lean-rich condition. It goes lean and revs up it gets wet and idles down... A "good" tune would eliminate the surge. Trust me it would suck to drive through town and at slow speeds. Been there, done that, and worked my way through the tune to make it nice to drive everyday. They will make your neck and back sore when they do that.
Are you commenting on all of Steve Morris’s videos too? He had 5 pieces of Mallory come out of one of his engines? Have you also tracked how many of Mcvay’s engines have broke on Billy to date? This is a big boy sport engines break. It has been over a year get over it. Don’t worry about Billy he is laughing all the way to the bank. On social media drama pays.
It is actually a lean/rich cycle on idle not just lean. I understand that many people do not like the surge. It doesn't cause any harm we have been running engines with surge for over 40 years. We have customers out there with blower engines that have been running for almost 20 years with blower surge. It can be tuned to remove the surge if the customer doesn't like it but most customers want it. 😊
One thing plain and simple is it's not tuned, although many people think blower surge sounds cool, it's actually a rich/lean condition and can easily be tuned out, surge drives real tuners crazy because it's not hard to tune out, carbs are the easiest, and it can even be done with EFI and mechanical injection
thank you for pointing that out. Yes, we do know we can tune it out if we wanted to do that but we want it to surge. It causes no harm to the engine and it doesn’t affect the performance so we leave it in because people like it.
@@blowersurge I get it the "surge brigade" don't know what they don't know But the people that are really into performance and know how to tune just cringe and laugh at it, but to each their own
@@garyallen8869 just because we have blower surge doesn’t mean we are not really into performance or don’t know how to tune. Maybe we just like the money from the surge videos. We have a paid TH-cam account and blower videos have more views. It is as simple as that. No need to put our tuning abilities down or say that real tuners laugh about it.
@@garyallen8869 it doesn’t interfere with the performance of the car on the street or at the track. So what does it really matter if it brings smile to someone’s face?
Wow an engine builder that puts up a video of blower surge proving they don't know what they're doing and probly why Billy's motor got trashed. BLOWER SURGE IS CAUSED BY IMPROPER TUNING! USUALLY A LEAN CONDITION PEOPLE!!!!!!
Actually, the engine is on the rich side not lean side. In a carbureted engine the surge is caused by the throttle plates being forced to close or flex at a slow idle due to high vacuum. When the vacuum drops then the plates open back up. This causes the rich/lean hunting sound that you hear. It only surges at a dead idle. There is nothing wrong with having it surge. The car has run for over 20 years with the surge. We have drive it on the street and race it at the track. We have won many races over the years with it. As for Billy, don't believe everything you see on social media.
I have trouble falling asleep. This is so soothing 😌
What a great video. The sound is magic. I want one!

it is a Blower Shop Blower but surging is caused by a combination of the tune and the build. FYI: Not all combinations will surge.

Im gettin ready to build a 383 and put a blower on it , but i want the noisiest whiniest blower , just like yours , what brand is that ?
It is from the Blower Shop! Best ones around.

How do you guarantee surge?
We don't guarantee surge but it is rare that our custom combinations don't surge. Used engines are more difficult to rework if they don't surge.

Where can i find a blower like this for my sbc 383 stroker

Do you have any info on the cam? Thanks
Sorry, our cams are custom grinds so we don't usually give the information out.
I'm 18% overdriven no surge done every adjustment on the carbs I could. Going 25% overdriven get me the surge you think?

How can this motor run for so long without cooling?
There is a radiator on the test stand that is cooling the engine.

It is a combination of the build and the tune. Some combinations don't surge much.
I'm going to put this on my sound system, very cool 😎

Bad ass I have a blown sb 400 overdriven has serious blower surge no way to stop it unless I lose power and change the pulleys ???
You can try adjusting the carbs and see if that helps. If it is not as rich it may not surge as much.
Is that thing knockin?
No, the cameras have terrible sound quality.
I was kidding
Badass. Is this a pump gas motor? What makes it surge?
Yes, it is a 93 or higher pump gas motor. The surging is due to the tune and build combination.
Maybe it’s me. But I think it needs more fuel at idle.
Nah….just a little more throttle ….lol
Fuel adjustment +/- smooths alot of that out. Normal thing till you get that particular set up done. Every build requires something different...
100% lol
