glad to see u here! this song is about summer solstice (Jāņi). The name of the song is witches night. Theres plenty of songs like this too, about various other things.
@Evanss Liberts Something about Witches of Night? I don't know Latvian language, only that it's like Little Sister language to Lithuanian (Which I do know a a fair bit of), and the title looks like "Raganių Naktį" which as I say is, Night of Witches/Witches' Night. Just trying to have an educated guess at the title
I was listening nordic songs and I end up here. I just loved the Tautumeitas. I don´t have no idea what they´re singing about but the song sounds nice. My 2 years old daughter is dancing with these girls. I definitly gonna listen more songs and greeting from Brazil.
susanne chakan they're singing about witches and a latvian holiday called Jāņi (which in basic translation just means Johns). just your average folk song! i'm from Latvia heh
Latvian language is grammatically closest to Proto-IndoEuropean. Meaning it didn't change much since then. I am so glad this language survived. If you want a look into our deep past look here. Damn Latvians, I love you.
PIE is the mother of all European languages. I don't know why and how the four or five strands of PIE language branched off, Celtic, Germanic, Slavic, Latin, Greek and Baltic (is that similar to Slavic?) . I tend to go with the theory that most Europeans came as Kurgans from Russia and invaded thousands of years ago, of course you have people like Basques etc. that were here before, maybe even the Sami people too.
Lithuanian and Latvian shares the same Baltic language branch, however Lithuanian is more archaic. Latvian language was more influenced by German, fino ugro and Slavic neighbors. Old Prussian language {Sembian} which belonged to Baltic language group, was most archaic and closest to Sanskrit however it extincted due to Prussian extermination and Germanisation.
This is absolutely beautiful. I don’t understand Latvian but there’s something joyous about this that speaks to my soul. I listened to this once and instantly downloaded it, now I need to listen to more of their music!!

this is honestly one of the best arrangements i've seen. Despite being a single melodic phrase with a slight rhythmic variation and only using voice and drums, I am engaged throughout the entire song. In the beginning, its just a dank drum beat and you begin to wonder if there is any harmony coming. Then they start singing but all in unison, no harmonies but the syncopation in the melodic rhythm is infectious. Then the drums cut out and they break into the full harmonies without the drums to distract and these harmonies are perfect so it really just pops. Then they bring it all home with a dope dance and the drums to feverish crescendo. Very well done ladies. I would love to see more simple drum + voice arrangements like this that on first listen may seem basic but upon closer inspection are actually very musically interesting.
If you enjoyed this arrangement of well balanced voices + drums, you might love the Polish groupe Laboratorium Piesni who also sings in Belarusian. Their most famous song is Sztoj pa moru (Што й па мору) but among the lesser known ones I prefer Oj Palja (Ой Паля)

Not through my backyard
My yard is forged with iron
Needles and barriers for barriers
Needles and barriers for barriers
Caught up in the rafters
Needles stabbed
Rafters cut
The river flowed like buttermilk
In my cows' pasture
There the hunter broke its neck
and stood nine witches,
Drowning was Laumas daughter
Without the sun in the evening.

What religion is called pagan? The word seem to be designed to confuse people.
Any religion is a belief or and following...
@@lucymot2010 The word pagan covering hundreds of religions means little to nothing and the reason the faith rejects the word. Says nothing about their beliefs. A word created by Catholics not people of the old faiths. The faith rejects the labels of Catholics . Jews and Christians not being of the faith and a few followers decided to see what happens when you follow Christians around calling them pagans and claiming Christians are pagan and wrote down the outcome in a notepad. The faith is good at stealing Christian followers then rejecting them. The faith only keeps certain types of Germanics. The faith is one of the few followers of the old faiths to have a all Germanic town in the USA with a decent population and a couple small villages. The faith wear Christian crosses ,willing to use such symbols to their advantage. Christian believe in angel's and faith in goodly elves made of light. The faith wants the decent not the filth.
I am from Latvia, čau kā iet, esmu priecīgs kad patīk Latvija.
Lithuanian and Latvian shares the same Baltic language branch, however Lithuanian is more archaic. Latvian language was more influenced by German, fino ugro and Slavic neighbors. Old Prussian language {Sembian} which belonged to Baltic language group, was most archaic and closest to Sanskrit however it extincted due to Prussian extermination and Germanisation.

this is honestly one of the best arrangements i've seen.
Their most famous song is Sztoj pa moru (Што й па мору) but among the lesser known ones I prefer Oj Palja (Ой Паля)

song lyrics
True, True, No Lies, Lions, Lions
Old Language
Old people's language, leagues.
Midsummer Night's Daughters Went
Witches, werewolves, leagues, leagues,
Witches, werewolves, lilac.
Midsummer, rabbit showcatcher, dude,
Those who belonged to the Johns, were in the league
Those who belonged to the Johns were lucky.
Witches, werewolves, leagues, laces,
They belonged to the Johns, in a dime,
They belonged to the Johns.
Run, witch, cross the air, leagues,
Not my fence, the leash, the leash,
Not my fence, the leash.
My ranch chiseled, laced, laced,
Knit Roofs Roofs
Knitted roofs for roofs.
Knit Roofs Roofs
Catching the dragonflies, the cops,
Capture the rafters built in the league.
Needle-hooked
Caught off the cut, leagues, leagues,
Caught off the hooks, lace.
Butter Milk River Flows
My cow's bangs, the lice, the leash,
My cow is hanging out, lops.
There's a scramble for the neck, a leash, a leash,
There are nine witches, a dime, a
There are nine witches, a lace.
There dropped the daughters of the cows, the dude,
No sunshine party
No sunshine, dancing.
