- The Georgia Tech (GT) Chamber Choir recently had their spring concert at the St. Philips Cathedral. This piece is a Medieval Lithuanian Folk Song arranged by Dr. Jerry Ulrich, the GT Chamber choir conductor.
The soloists are:
- Arjan "AJ" Chadha (@aj.chadha)
- Christine Ling (@_christine_ling_)
- Rachel Germany (@rachael.germany)
Translation:
Už ežero Behind the lake
Ugnys dega Fires are burning
Krenta byra
Kibirkštėlės Little sparks fall down
Man siratai And mine, the orphan's,
ašarėlės Tears
Eisiu girion I'll go to the woods
Paklausyti To listen
Ar kukuoja If a cuckoo is cuckooing
Gegutėlė
Ar ramina If it is consoling
Siratėlę The orphan
Sunku sodui 'Tis hard for the garden
Be karvelio Without a little dove
Man siratai ('Tis hard) For me, the orphan,
Be tėvelio Without the father
Sunku girėj 'Tis hard in the woods
Be gegulės Without the cuckoo
Man siratai ('Tis hard) For me, the orphan,
Be motulės Without the mother

Very interesting and beautiful! Thank You!
Simply beautiful. Thanks to all of you in the Georgia Tech Chamber Choir for this performance and honoring those of us of Lithuanian heritage. A beautiful song in the ancient form of the language and about the orphans of the many wars. You all brought tears to my eyes, tonight. Aciu, Labia Gerai!
Thank you so much for your kind words and love
@@axtas You have a special talent. Use it to always do well.
Amazing! Suprised lithuanian song to be performed by not natives with this strong impact! Great job!
An amazing performance, brilliant pronunciation.

This is so beautiful!! As a lithuanian I can say you did it very well, thank you!!🇱🇹❤️
What an incredible performance.
My Lithuanian born kids who reside abroad don’t have such excellent pronunciation in their own mother-tongue, as these soloists! It is incredible when foreigners interpret our lyrics better than we ever could - this made all of your ancestors proud, whichever land each and every one of you fare from..
shame
Beautiful voice too
I have goosebumps from your performance! It’s sad song about orphan! Hard life gives strong people! Respect from Lithuania for your performance.
Don’t think they are from Georgia the country aka Sakartvelo. Georgia tech is in Georgia state in the US

Wow... Gražu.
Very beautifully done, thank you!
One little detail: It's in fact "Sunku sodui be karvelio". "Karvelis" means "dove", not axe ;)
Thank you so much for the correction !!
Beautifully done, guys!

Fantastika. Grožis. Gruzinai.
kokie Gruzinai?Kur?:)
The voice of the soloist is getting lost, therefore the message of the song. You probably have to know Lithuanian to enjoy that version.
Prie ko čia gruzinai? 😊
