Hi mate. Thank you so much for this video. I’ve been to Mam Tor, Castleton etc plenty of times for hiking and I never even realised this way existed 🤷♂️😂 I will definitely give that direction a walk next time I’m there. Can’t believe I hadn’t got a clue 😂 I’ve been all over the Peak District. So excited to check this out.
@mj-cd9lk once I am back on my feet after my surgery I have another long walk over the peak district to do, have you seen the portway trail videos? Another trail I have done across the peak district
I spent a few years in the 70s 80s hiking/camping in the dark peak, but like you, never went south of Castleton. My limestone walking was done in the Dales. Now 78 but I might talk my Mrs into a cottage in that area. She likes Castleton
Excellent video. As a farmer and an avid walker who lives in Hartington. I can say I've never done this walk. It's now on my to-do list. I am currently doing the Ethal challenge I am on 65 of 95.
Enjoyed that Andy. It’s a nice trail isn’t it (apart from all of the cows!) Agree that the maintenance of the trail could do with a bit of an improvement, particularly beyond Matlock. Great to bump into you and feature on the video. It’s a big, small world isn’t it?
Yes a great walk, would of been nice to see something at the start or end to say it is the limestone way, and still a bit weird you don't go in Lathkill Dale lime gorge on the route but apart from that, enjoyed every mile, I walked another trail 2 weeks later and came across another youtuber that is often see in the Peak District and South Yorkshire, video to follow
Great to see you back, Andy. Really enjoyed re-living the Limestone Way. Funny that you bumped into Anthony... it can be a small world in the Peaks. Shame about the day 2 campsite noise - never fun on a long hike. That abbey towards the end looked incredible and deserves an explore. Oh and cheers for the shout out. Looking forward to your next hike!
Hi, no worries about the shout out, I be surprised if Andy Beavers messages me as well lol - yes small world bumping into Anthony also bumped into another youtuber on another long distance walk last summer although that was further afield, Limestone a great walk the odd shop would make it better, while been off done some vids plus finding diff ways to present vids better, playing with a new all singing camera (camcorder) but manual is like an encyclopaedia!!
Nice one Andy. been to most of these places several times but never thought to join them up. Thanks for your video, I'll get some decent kit and give it a try.
From Uttoxeter there is a main train station and buses that you can get back into the peak district, I went by train to Edale and then got the train back from Uttoxeter
Great commentary throughout there :) Is the campsite you stayed at the second night still there? I think I found it but it looks like it has to close this year due to planning permission? I was thinking of making it to Thorpe and camping on the hill there but looks like I'd get shot or trodden on by a cow 🤣 How did you get home from Rocester too? I'm planning to start at Hope train station and at Rocester pick up the Staffordshire way and get the train home from Uttoxeter.
Hi, I think the campsite is still there, but I think it's a seasonal one, Langcliffe Dale Farm SK233552, field to the left of the farm was the campsite, from Rocester I caught the bus from the centre of the village to Uttoxeter, than ran I think every 90 mins, thanks for watching
@@ExpeditionHiker Well to be fair, if I had not lived near there to know how it's pronounced, I would have made the same mistake... but lets just keep that between us shall we! :)

Not sure how many ethals I have done, must be most of them by now, but thanks for watching, it is a worthwhile walk to do
Good video, encouraged me to find some walks along the way you walked.👍
Thanks, there are plenty of walks that connect to the backbone of the Limestone way, through White Peak Area
Lovely

@@ExpeditionHiker thankyou sir!

@@ExpeditionHiker yes on the market place
Awesome video! Entertaining and educational :)
Thanks, as when we met, I did say I put alot into the videos, so it's nice to get comments like yours
Happy New Year to you Andy. 🍻
Happy new year to you to, I hope you have a great year of adventures ahead
My challenge for 2023
A great walk but as mentioned stock up before you go with food for the duration of the journey
How do you get back to the start of walk, love to this walk just wonder how to get back to my car ,is there bus or train routes back

@@ExpeditionHiker Thanks, I'll look it up 🙂
If you were to devise a route what might it be?
Interesting question I would have to think about that one but might even think and do that route at something- thanks for watching
Rocester.. nope! Roaster!
Thanks for the info, as you may of seen in my videos - I am very good at butchering pronunciations of places 🙄
@@ExpeditionHiker Well to be fair, if I had not lived near there to know how it's pronounced, I would have made the same mistake... but lets just keep that between us shall we! :)
For info, Rocester pronounced Roaster
Another one of those ridiculous English place names. I’m looking at you, Bicester and Towcester! (To name a few)
