    Great idea for mounting it. Good combo as well. I've ran them together many times.

    I set my CRT ss 6900V on 8- 8,5 watts with the kl203p . No matter what band or frequency It won’t succeed the 10watt max input (for the Rm Italy
    Great way to mount the amp btw 👍🏼

    14.4v DC is optimal for any electrical equipment installed for mobile use. Car amps preform better at 14.4 so CB’s and CB Amos should to.

    Very creative. I run a 203 behind my Quad 6 on my desk. What ferrite beads are you running I saw in the video? 74's from 442 South Texas

      Hi 442
      I don't remember what ferrite beads I am using. I bought them years ago. Someone told me a long time ago that using ferrite beads can help, but I never really noticed a difference either way.
      I heard those quad 6 radios are solid. I run a Stryker 955 as a base. 400 in the Buckeye

    My question is what can I do regarding the location of the Amp. I basically have the same set up 959 & the jigsaw hump mounting but the car's computer is mounted on the hump under the dash. It plays havoc with the amp & radio. Was thinking of mounting the amp in the trunk & making up a wiring harness & locate the amps switches in the ash tray? Any thoughts?

    • @400built
      @400built  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @firecop7912
      Normally I would suggest trying to ground the amp/radio but in your case you may want to try moving the amp as far away from the computer as possible. Sometimes using better coax and grounding your setup can help but if you are ok with the trunk then I'd say give it a try. Might be the best idea due to the cars computer.

    I have that exact radio & amp.
    Can you elaborate & advise on the of the radio specifics as far as what was removed-cut-turned etc . AND would you consider giving the name of the shop you sent it to.. I need to get this done as well just don't know who is working on them these days as repair shops are few and far between . thanks for the video

    • @400built
      @400built  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Mule City CB Radio did the radio tuning with swing kit. Nothing was cut. I can set my deadkey at 2 watts and the radio will swing 30-40 watts. I highly recommend Mule City. All you need is a swing kit and the radio will match up nicely with the RM Italy 203. Thanks for watching.

  • @franciscolopez3229
    @franciscolopez3229 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Hi there sir. May I ask, with a 1.5 to 2 watts deadkey, how much PEP swing can a kl300p safely take without over driving it? The specs says max input is 10 watts on AM and 2 to 20 watts on ssb. I'm not sure if that's RMS or PEP input coz it doesn't say in the manual. i sure appreciate it sir.

    • @400built
      @400built  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Francisco Lopez
      To be safe, I would only run single final radios into these types of RM Italy Amps. I would recommend a 1 watt deadkey from the radio. If your radio swings 25 watts PEP or less you most likely will be ok. If you have a watt meter, set it to RMS and if the meter swings backwards when you’re running the amp then you have too much radio power and would need to turn the radio power down. I would recommend using a Dosy 4002 meter or one similar when testing your set up.
      Thanks for watching- Joe

    Does it not stress and wear on the cb radio if using amplifier?

    • @400built
      @400built  ปีที่แล้ว

      The way I have this radio paired with the amp everything seems good. You definitely can’t run just any radio with this amplifier. My radio is set with a 1 watt deadkey and swings 20-25 watts. I would not run this amp with a high power radio.

    • @400built

    I Wana help u understand why u swing more at different frequency..or channels it's because ther is a resinate frequency or areah in Wich the radio has the best match to the load...so this is why you will notice a different output and vswr at different bends or frequency..hope this helps ...

    Esh, Dk 1/3 of your total peak ( the peak swing should make up the 2/3 of total peak power) I got a KL 203 , 18/20watts in is max ! bar none. I see some get 80-110watts out of the kl 203, not sure what is the difference, but mine does 100. 1.5watt DK when talking , peak power is 8-10w whistle or yell into the mic and get 15-18w. With 8-10w into the KL 203 , should render a decent clean 80-100 w out. Learn about "ALC" and what it does. Have had a few RM Itaiy amps, love them. Got the kl 203 still and the kl 703.

    • @400built
      @400built  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      18/20 watts is ideal for sure. I’ve noticed depending on 12v up to 14.5 volts you will also notice different power output. I’ve toyed with different radios and the volts. Interesting stuff if you have a dosy meter and bird peak meter. I’ve seen the total watts from 90 w to well over 150 watts depending on meters. Thanks for watching.

      @@400built Copy that, yeah the mosfet style don't like to be volted. I roll around 14v , voltage drop at the KL 703 is maybe 1v , with 20 into it, gives a "soft" 500 if that makes any sence. I do SSB mostly and a little FM dx, FM is a tough mode to run..lol things get warm.

      @@jeremynottingham6277 I love the 203 for mobile use. Very user friendly. I stick to AM but SSB ain’t bad either. I would agree 14v is probably the perfect spot for these RM Italy’s. I’ve used them on the Uniden 980, Cobra 29 and the Galaxy 959. Fun little amps. 73’s

    • @RFMaster6

      To elaborate, unlike a base running power which can be triangulated, a mobile cannot, and it makes up for signal loss on the receiver's end due to changes in terrain.
