That is the first time I've heard anyone wonder if their shadow could be a pathway to them for creatures that are held off by the light. I like that, it is an interesting detail.

Two of my favorite movies from my childhood.
Photophobic darkness monsters are one of my favorite tropes in horror.

I like Dark Somnium's voice best, but Lighthouse is top tier for sure. And Lighthouse's output is kind of unbelievable. I make audiobooks on a different account, and I know just how long these take to record and edit. Lighthouse is a whirlwind.

The author is right, there is something eerie about being someplace with no light pollution at night. I was a Girl Scout as a kid and worked at a summer camp in high school and the sky at night with absolutely no foreign sources of light was breathtaking. It doesn't take much to imagine something being out in that darkness, especially for city kids or the denizens of suburbia.
Wow that sounds so cool. America has so many great landscapes, woods, nature parks, valleys, etc .
Though our cultures might be very different, I still appreciate the great landscapes, nature in general.....sadly I 'll likely won't ever be able to afford to fly over and just start from one end and go into one direction - with many stops and changing directions, making a stop wherever it feels nice and then point at a map to choose the next direction. 4 corners alone must feel strange to stand on, and so much more. Or see the lights at Las Vegas at night. Not to gamble. Just to watch the colourful fireworks and lights and colored, highlighted fountains... Just sit outside and watch people rush to "make a fortune" while maybe making dumb decicions and have a beer watching the free light show...
But I would have to remind myself to only ever order kids portions or I could only finish one third.... - no offense, I' m just tiny and can't stomach much in one go.^^
I'm from south Louisiana and grew up camping in the swamps. I never considered it to be creepy until a new family moved into the area with a son the same age as myself and my friends. His family was from Ohio, Cleveland area I think it was. But when he came camping with us for the first time, he was severely freaked out due to all the strange sounds the swamp life makes at night, alone with zero natural light. We didn't have any fancy camping gear just regular sleeping bags so the only light was the campfire. I grew up in the late 70's early 80's, it was a different world back then. I love LH, he is an amazing storyteller/voice actor. He is my go-to when looking for a good story. Keep it creepy :-)
@@janedoex1398 I live in Las Vegas about a third to half of the year.. the lights fireworks and people watching is amazing! And food 😂 But it's either really *hot* or really _cold,_ sometimes in the range day so bring a light jacket even in summer!
You get used to the country nights and the sounds of nature after a while.
And once you do, the city life just isn't the same.
Its gorgeous, I would rather live out in the countryside with little to no light pollution than in a city.
I love listening when I am just relaxing or trying to sleep your voice is amazing
genius! I had to go back and listen again - and I rarely do that -, this author really knows what's the deal and your voice made it perfect, nonchalant at some crucial details, but not at all out of place, giving the story justice. this became one of my all-time favourites instantly. thank you!!

This one reminded me of a old urban legend I heard as a kid about the "Crow People" nice mix of dread and tension great job Lighthouse and to the writer awesome hope to hear more from you

Flying zombie raccoons? Great. I live by a huge park. With a lot of raccoons. If the law of probability has taught me anything, a few of them are zombies. And can fly. And being that I live in a trailer. I'm pretty well toast. 😁

@@janedoex1398 I have nail guns. My husband's a roofer. Gonna start tipping the coils of nails in the old coin collection grandpa left me and make sure I have plenty of gas for the compressor. The Bostitch and Makita are oiled up and ready for nightfall. Hopefully we'll be safe. Just hope they don't recruit the possums, the groundhogs or those two coyotes that howl at the neighbors' dogs every so often. 🤣

@@red_like_roses6635 if theres raccoons and you throw out any food scraps then raccoons are gonna feed themselves anywhere. We feed ours, and our foxes. My neighbor is a veterinarian, so we also catch them,give them rabies and other vaxes (foxes can recieve the canine version raccoons the feline version works) and give any armadillos found for leprosy (yes, armadillos can carry it. So use caution). Opossums can be vicious, but dont carry rabies and can make good pets if found or socialized in their younger days. Its fun to eatch
