Las seleccionadas de Francia en la categoría Kata Equipo que fueron campeonas en el Torneo Mundial de Karate de Finlandia 2006 ejecutan el Kata Kanku Dai y muestran algunas aplicaciones. Aunque los ritmos, la ejecución y los bunkai se construyeron bajo el contexto del reglamento del Karate Deportivo (WKF) es un video interesante para quienes les gusta este Kata.

Its a nice Bunkai... I'm also a Shotokan Karatedo from the Philippines, currently working and Teaching Shotokan Karatedo in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia... Thanks to the up-loader of this video. Thank you also for sharing this, I know many of our fellow Shotokan Karateka's are viewing this video and I hope they learn some technique on how to perform or execute a Shotokan Kata.

On voit que c'est des championnes. J'adore les kiais qui viennent du ventre. Très beau kata et ça démontre le côté artistique avec le rythme qui est très bien maîtrisé. Je suis encore un débutant, mais je sais apprécier les bons katas comme ceux-ci. Très inspirant. Osu.

I am 1st Dan JKA, the kata is performed with power and focus, application will always be slightly different, this does not make it wrong. In a real self defence situation karate gives us options and tools we shouldn't confuse the two. Ossu.

Very nice, very interesting. I'm not in that level but the Bunkai is also applicable for lower Katas.

All very impressive choreographed "competition" bunkai... which bares very little relation to real pragmatic fighting application or fighting principles from Kenku-dai. Nowadays there are much better interpretations on youtube.

About the applications. They are nonsense. First of all, kata techniques are not for fighting other martial artist, nor to be used in keiko, but for self-defence situations. This was written by Itosu sensei himself in his juukun, and later restated by Motobu sensei. Karate has its own techniques for fighting in keiko, and they are not in kata.

the application are truly nonsense , but it is not suposed to be it is sports karate , this applications are good for kata competion , and the video was never ment for realistic combat .
This performance is ridiculous. People talk about focus and speed. What's the meaning of this? This has nothing to do with technique. They should perform the kata like in a self-defence situation. For example, after the second nukite, they just lift their hands, while in the pictures of Funakoshi o-sensei and even in the videos of Kanazawa sensei they pass their hands around their heads for releasing from a wristgrab. The hole performance is a meaningless show.
