The lead singer's name is Mark Storace, and believe it or not, he was asked to audition for AC/DC in 1980 but declined because he believed so much in Krokus. And he has never regretted it - says he, at least. This legendary heavy metal band from Switzerland released a slew of classic albums throughout the 80s and into the 90s, featuring immortal songs like this one (that was a big hit), "Headhunter", "Long stick goes boom", "Tokyo nights", "Burning up the night", "Midnite maniac", "Eat the rich" - to name, but a few. Even more impressively, they have continued to make great music even in the new millennium. Their two most recent albums (excluding a cover album), "Hoodoo" and "Dirty dynamite", can easily hold their own against the classic material, and the album "Hellraiser" (2006) is one of my personal favorites of their entire catalogue. The song "Angel of my dreams" is basically "Screaming in the night, part 2", and just as brilliant, and "Spirit of the night" is a speed metal explosion totally comparable to the similar, super classic title track to the "Headhunter" album of 1983. On which "Screaming in the night" can also be found, by the way.
Krokus is a Very Underrated Band. They have so many great songs and many great albums. One of my favorite songs is an old Bachman Turner Overdrive song called ( Stay Awake All Night)
The entire record "Headhunter" is worth a listen to guys. You will be very surprised at just how great this act is! Great Reaction. It is such a treat for me to see your reactions to songs we rocked out to back in the day when the songs first came out. Our reactions were very much the same as yours (only with a beer in our hand and long hair swinging around) lol
I saw theses guy's in 1984 @ The Summit Houston,Tx. Great concert and then I saw there bus @ a truck stop in California and they signed the ticket sub I had from the concert in Houston. That was cool.
OMG YES 👏 👏👏👏 Rock on KROKUS !!!!! Took me back to good solid teenage years !!!!!! Thank you so much Asia & BJ this song/ band so reminds me of my brothers…..
Y’all are hitting the mark with this one. Krokus was great. I loved em!!!! They just didn’t get enough credit for the great stuff they did. That intro makes this song so EPIC!!! Plus those lyrics are so passionate, “sons of vengeance can you rescue me? They got me tied up to a woe tree!!!!” EPIC!!!! 🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽
Guys years ago ('02) my husband played guitar & wanted the tabs for this song. I searched the internet but no one had em. (back then) lol Finally i found a chick in Cali that would literally write out tabs for ppl. My husband was so shocked when i got them for him! Their album "Headhunter" was amazing! 🤟🏼🎸💚
"the lyrics tell a story very parallel to conan the barbarian(movie). basically a man and probably his people or family were enslaved or captured in the beginning, the man escaped, fell in love with a beautiful woman, later the two of them return to combat the slavemasters, the girl dies and the man is left alone swearing revenge." a love story.
Krokus are a great and underrated band. I saw them live on tour in 1983 for the "Headhunter" album (where this song is taken from) and they were amazing. Saw them again a few years ago in a small club and got to meet and chat with the band. Cool guys.
Seen these guys at the American Rock Festival in 84’ with Ozzy, Motley Crue, Ratt, Quite Riot, Triumph, and Accept. 2 other bands that were supposed to be there, but dropped out. We’re Van Halen and Ted Nugent. Wasn’t to bummed about Ted as I seen him 6 times. But the Van Halen thing really pissed me off!
I’m only 23 and I can’t even imagine being lucky enough to see all them in the same concert😂 as much of a heavy rock theme those bands are triumph is easily the sleeper in the group
They might be the most underrated band of the eighties. They had a slew of hits...I know because I was the frontman for a metal cover band and we did a TON of their stuff. Hits like this one, Winnin Man, Long Stick Goes Boom, Midnight Maniac, Our Love, Eat the Rich and Stayed Awake All Night. They also had hits on cover tunes like "Sweets" Ballroom Blitz" and Alice Cooper's "School's Out." Marc Storace was an amazing vocalist.
Asia you got it on the Bad Ass! Sound! I remember this song and had it on Patrol with me on my Submarine. and I never got tired of it. I was on the USS Will Rogers SSBN 659 (GOLD) Crew.
Wow, i can't believe you guys are hearing Krokus! Shout out to the smart person who recommended to you, this! The vocalist Marc Storace', he's from an island off of Italy (I think Malta). This guy sounds just as good live as he does on the recording, amazing vocalist really. I recommend this song to all the reactors i watch, it's such a great classic 80's metal song. It's about an actual battle that took place between two factions in Europe, like in the 1600's or something(i don't remember it fully). 'Headhunter' is another great song by them, and they did a great cover of 'Ballroom Bltz'. If i remember correctly that whole Head Hunter album was good. Look on youtube for a live version of this song. I saw these guys play live in the 80's at an old theatre downtown that had been converted into a music venue (the place had a balcony) It's called The Ritz
During this time in their long career this is one of several lineup changes but at this time: Marc Storace - Vocals Fernando Von Arb - Lead Guitar Mark Kohler - Rhythm Guitar & Bass ("live") Chris Von Rohr - Bass Steve Pace - Drums Patrick Mason - Rhythm Guitar ("live" only)
The official video is great too. A rare 80's song where the video really fits the lyrics. If you think the lyrics paint a picture, especially the woman he has to avenge, the video is a perfect match. A nice tongue-in-cheek ending on top of it. Also very 80's.
I have enjoyed this one since I saw them at Lakeland Civic in 84, For me its the Greatest Power Balad Ever Written and played, The part where he finds her lifeless always gets me.
Great 80s hard rock, when I saw them they were on the same bill as Gary Moore and Def Leppard in 1983. Gary was doing a set heavy on his Corridors of Power album and Def Leppard was becoming stars with Pyromania. Good seats for 3 emerging rock stars for $20.00. They played their hearts out. From that Corridors of Power album do his rocker Don't Take Me For a Loser. Enjoy! 🎸
Great song choice and reaction! Mark Storace, in his prime, was a tremendous singer. He put so much emotion in this song. 5:11 - This was one of the first guitar solos I learned how to play all the way through. It's such a sexy solo, but I could never figure out how to get Fernando von Arb's lead tone. It might even be simpler than I think, (I do hear quite a bit of reverb/delay/chorus and a phaser..) I wish I knew what gear he used in the studio to get that tone though.
I just watched a live video performance they did in Wcken several years back, they did a rendition of American Woman, just awesome. Another great rock ballard they did was "Our Love (will never die):.
Such a underappreciated band. They're from Switzerland and as a Swiss it makes me so proud what Krokus achieved.. They never get the props the, deserved in the r homecountry, just sad
One of my favorite songs of all time and one of my favorite videos of all time. The 80s was a great time to be a kid, please take me back there now to live out the rest of my boring ass life however long it shall be.
This song evokes an image of a night time medieval village raid, where horses, clanging swords, horns and screams are all chaotically ringing out in a symphony of horror and dread. A dagger is not a soldier's weapon...so I'm inclined to believe that his woman that he found lifeless, either took her own life rather than suffer whatever dasterly deeds her potential captors would beset upon her...or, they had already had their way with her, and seeing her man being taken away, (tied to a tree and left for dead), her shame and pain drove her to a possibility of an afterlife reunion rather than a mortal life of despair.
The singer from Krokus sounds a lot like Bon Scott from AC/DC. You should check out “Long Stick Goes Boom” banger! There’s a lot of Krokus songs that have the AC/DC Riffs to it
As much as I enjoy this song it brings back tough memories. A good friend and I were chilling and listening to this song when she got the call that her boyfriend had been shot and killed in a drug deal gone wrong. All these years later it’s still burned into my memory.
Not that i know of on a soundtrack! My 1st Rock concert was Sammy Hagar & Krokus! May I suggest song Krokus Our Love! Marc Storace Former Leadsinger off album Headhunter not Axl from GNR!
Id never heard of Krokus before but they are a sound compilation of AC/DC and Metalica and the voice is kinda like Steve Perry from Journey! Wow what a cool find! Thanks you two
I love(d) this song. The video back in the day didn't do it justice. Sadly, a lot of people based their opinion on it. I imagined a warrior (who suspiciously looked like Rutger Hauer in the movie Ladyhawke) on a great black destrier, trotting in time to the beat. Then, when the song hits the chorus, the horse and rider speed forth, the warrior's sword raised, to rescue his Lady Love. Lol, I had a vivid imagination! I enjoyed your reaction
For real.......if I want to listen to this song, I first watch your reaction and then listen to the song separately a 2nd time.....and it makes the song better.
The lead singer was offered the gig for a big band at the time, but turned it down to stay with his boys in Krokus. I can't remember what band, maybe AC DC after Bon passed away.
I know there’s a lot of comparisons to Bon Scott, of AC/DC, because Mark Storace & Bon have a really similar timbre, but I think Mark has more range & soul.
Guys PLEASE PLEASE PLAY KROKUS Rock in Roll Tonight!! Absolute BANGER!!! So much love and light to the Beautiful Miss Asia. And the Too Kool for School BJ. Love y’all!!💙💙

Great comment. I saw them live in Shreveport Louisiana in 1981. Fantastic show. Went straight out and bought Metal Rendezvous.
Man, but you could tell his vocals would have been perfect for AC/DC. I ever knew are thought of this. Thanks for the info.
@@nitro_001newman2 - Mark Storace is like Bon Scott but way more melodic. I love his voice.
Not true. Mark did audition for AC/DC. He didn't make it. But I do love his voice and Krokus. I have 3 of their albums on vinyl.
They do some pretty good covers too.

Krokus - "Stayed Awake All Night' is a good one. I love when you can hear a beer bottle dropping in the middle of a solo.
"Winnin' Man" was always a big favorite of mine. One of the 80's most underrated bands.
@@keithsowder4308 Yes, great song.
@@kelleychilton2524 Very underrated ! I fronted Metal Bands in the 80's we did a bunch of their songs. Their vocalist Marc Storace can still wail !
Hell yeah, my favorite Krokus song 🎵
Always loved this song. Glad you all came around to it finally.
I saw them in concert in 1985 they opened for Rat and Twisted Sister. They had some really good songs. From Switzerland
Eat The Rich is the next Krokus song you should check out!!
OMG YES 👏 👏👏👏 Rock on KROKUS !!!!! Took me back to good solid teenage years !!!!!! Thank you so much Asia & BJ this song/ band so reminds me of my brothers…..
"Our Love" by Krokus is a groove and a great song.
Absolutely, They do a killer version of Ballroom Blitz off the same titled album.
I LOVE 'Our Love!!'
I'll check it out ,Tony. By the way , you were a helluva first baseman for the Big Red Machine in the 70's. ( Sorry ,couldn't resist )

About time. Listen to the suggestions from us true old school metalheads. We won't steer you wrong.
A banger of a Krokus song, probably my favorite.
Asia hit the nail on the head......"it's a solid rock jam"
Yes ma'am, a solid tune it is indeed!
Once again, another great song selection!
So much to choose from the 80's, we had everything!
