Nicely done! I purchased a 511 today (from 1947) with plans to refinish it. Your video was a great help in thinking about and planning the process.

Spin the trigger guard around to access the second screw a little easier. You did a real nice job redoing the stock and barrel. The bluing agent you used worked really well. To be honest, the barrel looks much better than I expected. Great job. I picked up a 1960 model 511 for $79 yesterday. Not perfect condition, but gently used. Couldn’t beat the price for a nice Remington classic. Plus it’s a better rifle to teach my young son. Thanks again for your video.

YA, she sure do look nice NOW (my "first wife told me dat"! Yust kiddin'!!). But how could the un-rehabbed gun get in such bad shape? Abuse maybe?! I'm 82 now, & I still have my dad's old 511 Scoremaster he bought (new?) in the early 1950s. Except for some very very minor dings in the wood, & a tiny bit of minor rust around the front sight, it's STILL looks great, almost like new overall! Bore is like new too! Fine case-hardening on the bolt (the "real stuff"). Don't think I'd ever sell it, it's so nice, light weight, AND accurate! Once shot an old Woodchuck at about 40-50yds (should have measured it!), semi-offhand, iron sights, .22lr Stinger. Hit him in his left eye, which popped out his right eye (hydraulic shock!), blood all over! "Gruesome"!!! "Predestination"??!! The most amazing shot of my life, as I've never been a very good shot!! Don't believe I could have shot that good with a scope from a benchrest! That's WHY I'm keeping the rifle! The "PERFECT RIFLE" for hunting (which I've never done!) AND even for home self protection!!! If you run out of ammo, you can "bludgeon" or "club" the bad guy into submission!!! Guaranteed he'll "loose all his bodily functions"! If HE doesn't, "YOU WILL"! "Ach du lieber, mein schatz"! OH, those "Hot Wheel cars" would make great targets too - see if you could get them to do "WHEELIES"!

Thanks! I'd love to see detailed take and break down. I just got a 511x and will be doing the same overhaul and need a little help.

TheTriptamineDream - my apologies, this isn’t my normal channel and I’m no where near a gun guy but I will be happy to help in any way possible. My email is backyardtag@gmail.com. That particular gun belongs to my dad and I have cleaned it up and sent it back home to him in Texas. Please let me know if I can help you.

    The pups stole the show.
Even from the rifle. Which turned out
very sweetly. You done yerself proud son. How about we see a group at 25yds.

The Remington 511 has no (factory) means to mount a scope. The 511-X changed that.

Remington had a deal with the people that made offset screwdrivers they figure with every rifle they sell somebody would buy at least two of those cuz one I'm going to get lost 😂😂

Can you please tell me if you know if rounds can be loaded one at a time directly into the chamber without damaging the extractor? I know the single shot 514 can be...obviously, but I'm interested if the 511x will? Thanks, Charles
