God bless this video for being called white noise and ACTUALLY BEING literal white noise. I don't want 620 different kinds of relaxing atmosphere when I search for a very specific type of sound.
I find it quite amusing yet not entirely surprising that a video of nothing but 12 straight hours of static has earned 3 million views on TH-cam. (hey, if I searched for it to try to help focus during studying, I'm sure thousands of others have as well)
Im a sufferer of tinnitus through 11 months, when i first fired this up and listened to it for an hour or so, I paused the video, I was at the brink of crying, for the first time in 11 months there were silence for 10 minutes, I mean complete silence, I could hear a pin drop to the floor, I recommend this gift to everyone suffering from tinnitus, this might sound a bit emotional but i truly owe the uploader of this my gratitude, thank you David Rothstein, I can now go to bed with my mind clean.
There is a student next to me who is typing so loud like a maniac in the library. This white noise is better than my music for concealing the annoying typing noise.
I usually make a word document in max font size that says "The Library is a place for quiet study. So STFU FFS" then I print and post it like a little sign next to my station.
Right now my office is nearly empty due to the Christmas holiday, so someone decided to blare Coldplay on our office speakers. This white noise is the only thing drowning out the awfulness and keeping me sane. You, sir, are a hero. Thank you.
This is the best tinnitus masking I've found so far. It really masks my tinnitus completely, making getting to sleep not only possible, but a pleasure.
Use this almost every night to soothe my kids to sleep. My babies hear it in the womb too and when they are born I play it and I swear it is responsible for them sleeping through almost straight away, thanks :)
I played this and realised 30 mins later that it was still playing! I was so concentrated in my work that I didn't even realise that the white noise was on :) Thanks so much!
Trying to study for my school exams, but my new neighbors are working on their empty house. Sounds like they're breaking down my wall with a drill. *puts in earplugs* still too loud.. *puts in earplugs and covers with huge headphones* dammit, I can still hear it. *puts in earplugs with headphones playing white noise on loudest volume* YES. Thank you
ICET100 Well, like my original comment said, 'Trying to study for my school exams'. Aka, blocking out the noise so I could concentrate. No need for the capslock, really.
I think its ridiculous how effective this is! I turn this on, minimize the window then start studying. When I open the window back up, 3 hours have passed like nothing. Thanks for posting this!
After feeling overwhelmed and exhausted with "shooshing" my screaming 4 month old to sleep, I frantically searched for this. He's now asleep in my arms. Thank you!
Always helps when I have a headache. Helps drown out other sounds. And when I lived on the cable car line in San Francisco, it helped drown out the damn ringing and clanking of the car. Thanks so much for posting this, have been listening to it for two years now.
i have a housemate who only ever listens to drum & bass and dubstep all hours of the day usually up until about 2am. 3 days a week i have to be up for work at 5am. this is the only thing that actually drowns out the constant bass thumping above my head! thank you so much! suffice to say, i'm moving out next year.
this is best thing we ever came across!! not only does my 7 month old actually sleep longer than 20 min when I have white noise on, but I sleep like a baby too!! thank you for making such a long one for all night sleep! this is my 1st time listening to this one and 3rd time all together. I recommend to all parents with babie! this is the best! inside our bellies is very loud for them so this is very soothing to our babies, and stress reliever for them with all the stimulating new stuff, and stress reliever for us to sleep!!
thanks for uploading this. my uncle was blasting music in the room next to me -- loud enough so he could hear it across the house -- while I was trying to read. I put some earplugs in and blasted this on the speakers and was able to get through a few chapters before the next interruption.
Why is this sound relaxing for human beings? I have roommates that has this white noise machine, there is also a small wind current or maybe fan going on somewhere. They always have it on when they sleep and when there is something important going on I want to wake them up by calling their name. But they look so peaceful in their deep sleep I don't want to disturb them lol.
because everything is made of sound even us. sound is 3 dimensional. white noise is the combination of all existing tones. there are easily over 20,000 tones mix in white noise, even tones that we cant hear. Just like white light, its the combination of all colors. This video with white noise is the right one. I have a NCH tone generator and ive been comparing and this one is dead on the right white noise.
Hontoni Arigato I think it's because it's neutral sound. It's the most neutral sound that we have and have you ever tried to hear noises while listening to this? I mean, for example... Try to hear the sound of you typing when you listen to this.... It sounds so quiet. I think it's because it's more of a filter. A filter for every other sound that we hear... And it's constant... something our minds can just focus on. Unchanging.
Thanks, need this to work in my own living room. Feels cozy, like rain is pooring on the streets and everyone listening to this is with me. Let's huddle up under the umbrella.
I've had tinnitus for 2 years it took me 6 months to accept it and now I'm crying again because its gotten louder and I feel I am going through the 6 month depressing again.. Plz it's been a week is the sound going to go back to its normal state as in the one that's not as loud as rite now.. I'm so upset about this.. But I have hope
+armani nabz armani you are not alone. What are your causes? Mine started late February, the result of a stressful move to my new home. I've noticed it comes on when i get angry or the wind is strong ( which annoys me anyway). I have audiology, he told me they'll work on it to get it to the normal levels it was when it wasn't noticeable.
+armani nabz I'm going to "celebrate" 4th year with tinnitus this december. never changed. nevere went louder ot lower....but now I thjink it's going worse or maybe its my feeling on it. I'd be glad to reduce it 20% in order to stop hearing it at least during day or in noisy places... I can hear it sometimes, even when going on motorbike with helmet and wind passing noisy all around me...but I know that 40% is fault of my mind attention on it.... I'm sorry for my english, if it's not so good but I dont even want to control what I wrote. :D
Dude, this totally works. It drowns out all other noises from the room. My mum is watching tv and my brothers are running around screaming and my cousin is crying, yet I don't hear any of it. Usually, with music I can hear everything around me. But, wow! This is so cool. This will for sure help me with concentrating on work in a crowded place or for going to sleep faster. Wonderful. Brb, adding this to my phone.
I Travel for work w/ my computer at least 20x a year. when I travel, I'm lucky if I sleep 4 hours a night because I don't have the hum of our fan, or its too quiet, or noise in the hall, etc. I used this last night and slept for 7 hours. Now I am using again. Amazing! THANK YOU SO MUCH for doing this!!
My 10 wk old daughter was already an o.k sleeper, but it took up to 45mins to fall asleep & she would wake at 2am every night, since playing this video to her she goes to sleep within 5 mins & sleeps 10hrs or more at night!!! Thank you!!
The white noise is the only sollution thats helping me a bit for my tinnitus. I listen every day 2 hours and sometimes the tinnitus is away or is helping me for 50% less noise in my heath! Thanks!
I am staying at a hostel and the guy in the bed next to me tends to spends half the night talking on the phone, giving a hacking laugh at least once every minute. The white noise is the only thing that keeps me sane (by keeping me from hearing him) so thank you very much for this!
Thank you so much! I wish I would have discovered this sooner! Every time I study, I listen to this white noise and am able to focus for long periods of time without being distracted. You definitely have made a difference.
this is perfect for breaking in new headphones. let it play while youre asleep and it breaks them in and you get a little white noise in the background lol
You don't have to break on headphones. Good headphones are broken in for better sound output from anywhere near 24-72 hours. This white noise is great because it's just static so it will hit a whole bunch of different frequencies that would otherwise be missed if you just had your headphones hooked into the radio all day and night or something.
I don't know if it is placebo effect or it really works but it made me be more calmed and focused while doing homework. (Sorry if english mistakes i'm spanish).
I love meditating to this! The binaural sound waves really made my temples relax, opening my third eye and achieving nirvana, which really helped with my back pain! Thanks!
Do you have any other suggestions for sounds like this? I was looking for something that's quiet, doesn't like rain but more like the stillness of night...
this clip greatly helps to drown out my high-frequency tinnitus- I was amazed at how effective and fast the white noise filtered out my ringing- it is great relief for days where it is particularly loud or after too much coffee, beer etc. it has helped me for months to get to bed easier, easing, and ridding of stressful quiet nights. Thank you very much for uploading, to me, a very important clip which I sleep to 24/7.
My friend had a serious headache and only Excedrin would have worked for her, which she didn't have. I instead suggested this to her and she tried it and it worked great! Thanks so much for this!
Using this to cram for a finals test. Before I was stressed but now I'm more steady and my mind is very calm and at ease. I'm finding that I'm absorbing the material easier. Thisc is really cool!

I'm studying for first year finals in a library filled with inappropriate chatter, so this really helps me to focus and work well. Thank you so much for uploading this.
Coming in real useful when I have three quizzes to study for and I can clearly follow along with what my family is watching in the living room and I'm in my bedroom with the door shut. Thanks.
Who else can hear: heavy rainfall, beads/Lego pieces pouring into a bag, frying some food, the jungle, water pipe burst, a waterfall, steam powered engines? I just sat here for 15 mins imagining all of those and it felt like 10 seconds went by.
Sound like being in heavy rain with heavy winds going through trees. standing next to the sea with a factory on the background..... and sometimes you hear some whispers
thanks to this video I was able to nap for 2 hours straight... there's always some noises in the house that don't let me sleep. Thank you so much for this!
I always find this so relaxing, it's kinda like a consistently dry rain; I'm the kind of guy who likes to have noise when he sleeps, but nothing loud, and it has to be consistent, so this is perfect for me. Also, I've had experience with it alleviating a headache if played through headphones, but if the headache was caused by stress then it might just be a relaxation response.
Whenever I'm around complete silence, I get this weird sensation in both ears. It feels like a really strong wind is being blown into them. It's the strangest feeling, and very annoying, because it prevents sleep a lot. This has helped immensely. I can't thank you enough.
God bless this video for being called white noise and ACTUALLY BEING literal white noise. I don't want 620 different kinds of relaxing atmosphere when I search for a very specific type of sound.
Search for static and it does the same
wait.. are u my brother?
Mine Turtle I mean, probably.
woodfur00 Well your adopted! :)
woodfur00 But i found u bro
Still better than some of the pop artists today.
I am undergoing Chemotherapy and I don't get sleep most nights. This white noise is so helpful, helps drown all thoughts and sleep .
Thanks

I have a ringing noise that won't go away and Oh my goodness this static is amazing
my ringing sometimes goes away but then it comes back which is so Annoying and still I Listen to this static
Joseph Morrison omg same this is the first one that legitimately helps me !
Helps me eat soup in peace.
This is great for my tinnitus just wish the white noise can get rid of my tinnitus for good
Hydra tinnitus? Ringing in the ears
Kyle Patch thanks man
almost like a very rainy day or a pipe bursting from high water pressure
If you turn it down, it sounds like the sizzle of oil in a pan.
Maybe it's my laptop speakers that make it sound that way.
I have written my bachelor thesis about white noise!!! It was so interesting!!!! Statistics done by myself...really awesome!
thats amazing! good work :)
Please share!
There is a student next to me who is typing so loud like a maniac in the library. This white noise is better than my music for concealing the annoying typing noise.
I type really loud :)
I usually make a word document in max font size that says "The Library is a place for quiet study. So STFU FFS"
then I print and post it like a little sign next to my station.
Exactly why i'm using it, lol
I do that sometimes, I even bring my mechanical keyboard.
I understand you pain. I have a bunch of college students trying to dissect a movie they just watched. this white noise is helping so much!!!!
I've had tinnitus for almost a year. I discovered this video 5 months ago and I sleep to it like a baby. Thanks a lot.
Accidentally navigated away, thankfully when I came back Chrome remembered where I'd left off!
Right now my office is nearly empty due to the Christmas holiday, so someone decided to blare Coldplay on our office speakers. This white noise is the only thing drowning out the awfulness and keeping me sane. You, sir, are a hero. Thank you.
Oh My life saver... My all time crying baby goes to sleep once she hear this... works all the time... Thank you for posting this....
My co-worker quietly talks to himself, must listen to this with earphones. You are a lifesaver!!
I used this to help me hallucinate! Thanks so much for posting it!

I suffered an odd spike in my tinnitus while at work the other day and I am glad I found this. It's like my ears popped and are back to normal.
kind of feeling good to be a part of a community here...thnx n stay blessed every 1
Trying to study for my school exams, but my new neighbors are working on their empty house. Sounds like they're breaking down my wall with a drill.

This got me through a year of high school and 2 years of university! This sound is great for reading.
What an achivement xD, Keep it up until you graduate :)
I've used this video countless times to help my baby fall asleep. It never fails. Thanks!!!
feels like listening to rain on a tin roof ;w; so good
After feeling overwhelmed and exhausted with "shooshing" my screaming 4 month old to sleep, I frantically searched for this. He's now asleep in my arms. Thank you!
One of the few things that gives a little comfort.

Surprisingly good for blocking out office noise when needing to concentrate!
There is never a greater need for this than when my wife watches any show on the E! network. God bless you sir.

Yes, I know but I hope it will end quick! It just started randomly during a holiday party with my family! No loud music or something D:

Love it!
this is the ONLY thing that can make my baby stop crying and even fall asleep. unbelievable and thanks
Thank you for being my go to every night for a year now. You'll never know how much appreciation I have for you uploading this video, bless you x
Dude, this is a lifesaver, especially when people have incessant talk breaks at work…! You're a gem…!
Loved the song, listened to all 12 hours of it

Thanks for this, I can sleep now since I have tinnitus :)
Ah us slipknot fans have something in common :)

This is the sound of universe. Thanks for posting!
Use this to put my baby boy to sleep. Works the majority of the time. Thanks for helping me get my sanity back!
The timer makes this great; its so easy to see if you've gotten a full nights sleep or not at a time when you are too groggy to do any math
I am staying at a hostel and the guy in the bed next to me tends to spends half the night talking on the phone, giving a hacking laugh at least once every minute. The white noise is the only thing that keeps me sane (by keeping me from hearing him) so thank you very much for this!
Enjoyed the video, guy. I kept passing out but it was great.
This is the only thing that helps me with not only my tinnitus but also helps me focus better when I need to concentrate. Thank you!
I'm probably the only nigga that falls asleep to this. been doing white noise for five years now.
Thank you so much! I wish I would have discovered this sooner! Every time I study, I listen to this white noise and am able to focus for long periods of time without being distracted. You definitely have made a difference.

Really helps me study for longer periods of time without wandering to other place. Favourited, thanks.
using this to drown out the sound of two loud annoying roomates thanks bud
This is surprisingly a better solution to music while studying, FAR less distraction!
Sanity. Blessed sanity. Thanks for this.
I use this regularly when my colleagues are being restless and talkative.
I can concentrate!
Thank You.
I don't know if it is placebo effect or it really works but it made me be more calmed and focused while doing homework. (Sorry if english mistakes i'm spanish).
+WolfJere is it english homework???
+WolfJere it is something that cgpgrey said on his podcast: you need something to distract the monkey in our brain.
I love meditating to this! The binaural sound waves really made my temples relax, opening my third eye and achieving nirvana, which really helped with my back pain! Thanks!
Finally I can focus on studying. My grandparents are watching tv really loud in the next room :D
lol
Do you have any other suggestions for sounds like this? I was looking for something that's quiet, doesn't like rain but more like the stillness of night...
this clip greatly helps to drown out my high-frequency tinnitus- I was amazed at how effective and fast the white noise filtered out my ringing- it is great relief for days where it is particularly loud or after too much coffee, beer etc. it has helped me for months to get to bed easier, easing, and ridding of stressful quiet nights. Thank you very much for uploading, to me, a very important clip which I sleep to 24/7.
Every time my headphone shifts, it sounds like thunder.
I actually thought the white noise was a rainstorm recording O_o
It's very similar to standing at the base of a waterfall.
thanks . you can't believe how much this helps us tinnitus sufferers
Thank you for helping block out the thumping bass from the 7-Eleven at the end of the road! Ah... relief.
My friend had a serious headache and only Excedrin would have worked for her, which she didn't have. I instead suggested this to her and she tried it and it worked great! Thanks so much for this!
Best thing on the Internet.
I can hear so much better and clearer after listening to this for a couple minutes. Thank you.
FINALLY! I FOUND IT! THANK YOU! :D
Using this to cram for a finals test. Before I was stressed but now I'm more steady and my mind is very calm and at ease. I'm finding that I'm absorbing the material easier. Thisc is really cool!
Thank you. Coworker's voice has annoyed me for 20 years. Problem solved. Don't look back. Peace.
my boyfriend suggested and found this for me months ago.and i still use it. I guess I have ADD-- even in a library I just could not pay attention. Was so stressful, thank you! LOVE IT!
My little bro falls asleep after like 30 minutes of this thanks!
This is by far my favorite white noise. It differentiates itself from the others with the subtle notes of sssshhhhh and hsssssss near the middle segment of the piece. These sections meld nicely with the underlying pshhhhh noise which permeates this artistic composition.
this is a lifesaver in this f*cking openspace
thanks
I've got a day off from school, listening to some Jose Gonzales with this white noise and rain sounds. Simple peace.
That feeling you get after you listen to this for so long with headphones on, and then it stops
Thank you for this. It's the only thing stopping my tinnitus right now.
Using this right now to study for my finals as I speak
TheCometDog
touche ^_-
+teeman9266 as am I friend, as am I
I'm studying for first year finals in a library filled with inappropriate chatter, so this really helps me to focus and work well. Thank you so much for uploading this.
I love it, make more of this! wooow :)
....make....more....of....this....? If he made more wouldn't it be the exact same thing?
;)
How can you? LOL
This helped me SO much. I was able to finish all my work without getting distracted as usual. Thank you so so so much!
wow this video really help my pain i just got tinnitus on my left ear and really stressful for me thx
I thought of frying food and within 30 seconds thought, Welcome to flavortown.
Same!!
This was incredibly helpful with reading for school. Drowned out noises that would distract me without becoming a distraction in itself. Thanks!
Sound like being in heavy rain with heavy winds going through trees. standing next to the sea with a factory on the background..... and sometimes you hear some whispers
+rense doornink Sometimes those whispers happen the entire time. I play it at the sound of 7.
thanks to this video I was able to nap for 2 hours straight... there's always some noises in the house that don't let me sleep. Thank you so much for this!
thank you!!!!!!!!
I always find this so relaxing, it's kinda like a consistently dry rain; I'm the kind of guy who likes to have noise when he sleeps, but nothing loud, and it has to be consistent, so this is perfect for me. Perfect for helping a crying fussy baby settle down and sleep
yes! my baby falls asleep right away after playing this for her its awesome for babys when trying to get them to sleep
Whenever I'm around complete silence, I get this weird sensation in both ears. It feels like a really strong wind is being blown into them. It's the strangest feeling, and very annoying, because it prevents sleep a lot. This has helped immensely. I can't thank you enough.
