Huge shoutout to Alex Vanover for kicking off his career in cinema!! And just to clarify, he was 19 when Michael Bay found him and 20 when he started filming the movie. He is now 22 and busy filming projects back to back so this is just the beginning! 🙌
If a TH-camr needed to make it to the red carpet, it had to be you Gene! This is just a small part of what you’ll achieve man! Congrats to the whole team
17:36.. this shot blew my mind, the entire video did for that matter, but at that time.. he flips the drone into the top of the building... AND FLYS IT OUT BACKWARDS.. the amount of spatial awareness these dudes have when flying these drones is out of this world. Great video! Truly amazing
His time in the Drone Racing League really served him well for this. Since the fastest racing line often involves turning and facing the direction you want to go while traveling through a 6 foot gate you're not looking at, traveling at breakneck speeds with 5 other pilots, this is probably casual flying for him 😎. Wish I could say the same 😅.

After seeing what Michael Bay did with Storror and now with these guys, I super respect him for finding the best in the world at something and really giving them both as much freedom and pushing them as much as possible in a really cool way. Dope video!
This made me so happy for you. I could just sense the energy and excitement from you through every moment of this experience. Also that documentary would be awesome I would absolutely love to watch something like that.
@@PotatoJet He definitely seemed like he would be really fun to work with. He has that creativity first mentality no matter the cost. Need to risk blowing up a drone with five figure price tag to get the shot... just go for it.
Michael Bay has figured out that getting niche youtubers in and around his videos increases his audience! The only reason I watched 6 Underground was to see all the work the Storror boys put in. I'll have to check this one out too. Love the pitch to Michael Bay on your end card - smart.
This is one of my favourite videos of yours Gene, wow looks like you guys had a blast, those drone pilots are on a whole different level, thanks for this great content 👍👍👍
if Michael Bay happens to watch this... I am going to see ambulance because of this video. I hadn't realized there was so much FPV video in the movie. Great video and interview, Gene. Is this the first major motion picture to use FPV drones?
from watching gene vlogging grocery shopping for homeless people with steve to seeing him making his way to hollywood somehow makes me proud. i am so happy for you, man!
What's amazing is these guys are well known actors and a huge producer and is still blown away with drone technology and skills. What an awesome interview and video. They look like it would be a blast just to sit around and listen to their stories.
Gene!!!! This is one of the most engaging, entertaining videos I’ve watched in a long time! Wow!! And geez, it must have taken sooo much thought and time to plan, film and edit it. My respect for you has just doubled. Bravo!! 👍🦘😄🇦🇺
Man, as an FPV Pilot myself, this is the dream. Especially for someone like Michael Bay who is all about pushing the limits. How fortunate Vanover is for making his mark at just the right time for this to happen. I'm approaching 32 and can only hope I'll get such a break one of these days. Hopefully, this alone will expose the masses to the potential of FPV. It's still largely completely unknown.
wow! I just interviewed vanover saturday at the big Mayhem Team race, and had no idea he was leaving to go to the premiere. Will be sure to reference your project when my film on the team race comes out. Vanover can still race with the best of him, was awesome racing against him and seeing him fly against the top pilots of the day. Amazing he can maintain his racing skill and studio skills at the same time.
So happy you got to be a part of such an awesome group of people -- Those FPV drone shots were low-key out of this world. And thanks for bringing us along for the experience. ✌🏼
I was nervous enough when they told me I get to interview Michael Bay. So you can imagine my reaction when they said Jake Gyllenhaal is also joining… Jake is straight up my favorite actor so I was trying not to fanboy lol. Then a few days later they tell me Yahya is also joining so now I have 3 stars all looking at me 😂! Was super cool but definitely was on the edge going in! But they were all super chill with me so I was Starstruck for the first 5-10 minutes but was finally able to snap out of it, lol.
That BTS docu is so inspiring to me! Movies are a field I want to enter, and this all motivates me to develop the skills in aerial cinematography and entering FPV for that field. I have a looong way to go, but you've gotta have goals and dreams! *Love this!*
You are awesome PJ, and of course, everyone there with you at PJ Headquarters making possible every little thing u put out there. I get inspired everytime i see your videos along your great team. Hope some day we can meet!

The fact that the title is about a drone pilot and not "JAKE GYLLENHALL AND MICHAEL BAY LIKE MY OLD MOVIES!" shows how dedicated you are to this side of the camera for this channel.
Mad applause for the Potato Jet crew. This was amazing. 3:13 Michael Bay was accurate, drone work was really boring prior to utlizing fpv stuff. Now I see the mad rush for DJI platform folks trying to jump to fpv and all I hear is whining because it's too hard, even utlizing the DJI FPV drone 🤣
Congratulations mennnnn. Side note most of all these TH-cam filmmakers love to hate on Michael bay. They couldn’t do half of what he does. Watching this is amazing 🤩 keep going!!!

Congrats to Alex, dude has Jedi reflexes, and Congrats to you Gene for the cool interview.
I want to know if a post team had to paint out drone shadows or if they were just really good at avoiding catching them in frame.
