Actually the “R” word (which I would write out if I didn’t think they’d pull my comment) was/is the correct term…that word just means delayed. It was used for many things back in the day. It didn’t become a big deal until people made it a big deal. Plus, we didn’t have the term special needs back then.
So yes, people are WAY too sensitive now.
Even politics…it’s just been within recent years that you can’t openly talk about your views. The elite have worked hard to make people super sensitive, It’s just another ideological line they’ve created to divide us.

Winners get prizes and losers should get nothing. Learning to lose at a young age isnt a bad thing. Thats how it was when i was little and we didnt get upset over it cuz we understood that theres winners and losers.

In NY, my public high school, we had metal detectors and NYC police officers stationed in the school. '87-'90 In the booth, there were guards watching servalance cameras of who was walking up on the school. And my school wasn't bad, just diverse.
Even my public elementary school had a NYC police officer station at a desk right inside the front doors with a big cb type police radio on the desk. All doors were locked to the outside, and you could only enter school through the front doors. If you opened any other doors from the inside, the alarm would go off.
I don't know why that is still not a thing. And no kid was ever shot to death by anyone in the school!
With all the technology today, these school shootings could be prevented if the powers that be wanted to actually do something about it.
Stop sending BILLIONS to other countries and invest in your own people and their safety.
At least back then, they tried to make it appear as though they cared. Now they just spit in your face.

Girl, I'm with you... at the end of the year. I went to a predominantly black (50% vs 50% "other") school and you need to teach him! All the fights would be "scheduled" for last day of school. The buses were virtually empty b/c we'd choose to walk home for 2 miles and NOT miss the fights!

Trophies in youth sports are given to those that were the best at the time. It teaches others to continue to strive to improve and stay hard at it to become the top individuals. This helps prepare them for being adults and in the workforce. The best usually gain the position and rewards. There are no participating trophies in the adult world. And no, there is nothing wrong with others recieving a ribbon showing they played but trophies should only to to the top teams or individuals.
The problem about giving a trophy to every kid is that is creates laziness and doesn't give the participant the drive to do their best. Everyone gets into a state of being non competitive. How would the Olympics work with that kind of thinking.

The purpose of sports in school is to teach you life lessons. In life we don't always win & we need to be taught the right way to deal with a win or a loss. There is a proper way to win & we learn more from a loss then we ever will from a victory. We need to know how to pick ourselves back up when life knocks us down. These young folks in their late teens early 20's to day are a prime example of what happens when you give participation trophies. Look how they reacted after the 2016 election results.
Funny how however much "PROGRESS" we make, the WORSE things get. It does not Matter What you might have said in the past that you won't Say now, Somebody will eventually take what we all commonly say and TWIST IT until it BECOMES the new "Offensive" Term. Language evolves and people FOREGT that words pick up "Baggage" as they get used. Words like Retard, moron, Idiot, etc. all started out as clinical terms to describe people of particular intellectual ability or detriments. It was not until people started using them in ways they were not intended, as insults that they became "Offensive". And NOWADAYS people go back and JUDGE People's PAST for saying things that when they were said may have meant something Completely Different than they do now.
This is the whole problem with the world today…… words only have the power you give to them. These labels that we put on people are the real issue, we been divided by more ways than you’ll probably ever realize. Tom’s been breaking down those doors to the walls that divide us. Just finished the Tom videos you have done, still think you should watch The System. #HOG are the most amazing people, we see the corruption all around the world, and we are all grateful for Tom raising more awareness than any of these fundraisers. There’s a reason Tom has millions now…. He’s got what people are craving here, we need to have these discussions before it’s too late.
So, I don’t think it should matter if someone says retarded or not. I mean, it started as a medical term (mentally retarded). People just decided to turn it into an insult. Like, does it make sense that a medical term is offensive? Is it the term itself that’s offensive? Or is it the intent behind the usage that’s offensive?

Back in the day retardation was the word used to describe children that developed slower. The definition of retardation : the action of delaying or slowing the progress or development of something. Like almost any word it got used as an insult toward "normal" people. I have always thought name calling of any kind is something to avoid. So if you label someone an a$$hole....it is not any better or worse than calling someone retarded. Both are disrespectful and nonproductive when communicating with others.

Everyone gets offended by something & always have but thats on us as individuals. Just because it may be offensive doesn't mean we have the right to say they cant say it thats not freedom. If we keep people from being offensive we will never be able to open our mouths. We should teach people to value their own opinions because that's the only opinion that truly matters.
I have been overweight most of my life by time I was 18 I weighed 375Lbs i learned at a young age to not place my happiness on others opinions.
The purpose of the party system is to divide. The party system is the problem, it was not our fouders intentions. You should vote for the person depending on if their values & policies align with yours. We should do that crazy thing called research. lol Research their history & see if it aligns with what they're representing themselves as.
I have a special needs child as well. So I have some feelings about the “R” word.
Of course we shouldn’t use that word to insult or degrade people with a handicap any more than you’d degrade someone in a wheelchair or anything else.
However, I do still use that word sometimes when it feels appropriate.
For instance, I have a friend who thinks the world is flat. Every time he brings it up is say, “Dude, that’s retarded”. It might be wrong, but that’s how I grew up talking. 😂
2 politic system is always a failure. Am Swedish and our Government system has a rule that any "Party" passing 4% is going in to the Government/Senate. Wich gives them 4% of the seats, that makes it more bargain in the government then just 1 partie rules. If i recall we had 7 parties in last election that has to compromise about stuff ❤ #HangOverGang

I think people concentrate to much on the words and not enough and not enough on intent.
We are a constitutional Republic not a democracy meaning we have or are supposed to have individual states rights with minimum federal government interference with individuals in each state vote Democratically. That's why it's supposed to be we the people not we the federal government
Too many awards for kids. When they start getting a participation award for losing at any age they are going to expect that every time they fail at something then they ain't going to put forth a effort cause they know their still getting a reward.
