It has a lot to do with personal preference. Brushless motors can produce more top speed and just overall wheel speed in general. If you're looking for more control at lower speeds than a brushed motor will work just fine. I personally still run some brushed Holmes Hobbies motors in a couple of my crawlers. When brushless motors where first hitting the seen, they weren't sensored, so you would get a lot of motor cogging at low speeds and for that reason crawlers mainly stuck with brushed motors. Now a lot of companies are making brushless motors with sensor wires and they can slow crawl really well. So it all depends what the RC will be used for and your driving style.
It is a Castle creations 1410-3800kv sensored motor with a sidewinder SCT (short course truck) ESC combo, and that combos specific part number is 010-0123-02.
It's a 3800kv motor. If it wasn't mostly being driven on 2s and geared so low, I'd probably want a lower kv. But it does seem to be holding up without any heat issues.

Do you have a part number for the kit you put in? Looks great btw.
