It's been 4 years since I first wanted to build these doors and they are finally complete! In my latest woodworking project, I made my workshop doors out of Western Red Cedar and using my own custom forged hinges. I love the mirror-with-a-hole-trick to aim your drill perpendicular. I am definately going to adopt that technique!

Back in the day people used those mirrors with a whole to play their favorite songs! Really wasn't that long ago lol

Nice job. I installed some giant carriage doors a few years ago. Very satisfying when you swing a pair of 54" doors open.

I love how the wooden corner bracket follows the contour of the hinge. Nice little detail. And using the CD as a spacing guide is a brilliant idea. Thanks for sharing!
I don't think he used it for spacing, that trick is for drilling straight: when you look at the reflection of the drill bit on the CD and it coincides with the actual drill bit, then it means that you are straight.

Why not use bolts on the hinges?
Why use a router instead of dado?
Why use foster instead of mortise?
Guessing the CD stops Chuck scratches?
Suggestion.... Show which router bits you're using before routing.

it's always worth it! bloody brilliant. You and Matthias make some of the best stuff on youtube. I know you guys are polar opposites in personality types but jeez, there would be nothing you and him couldnt make in a collaboration with all your skills combined! when you watch people who are at the peak of their game, you always learn something from them, same with this video.
