I've been running a bariatric surgery support group since 2001. I see patients far more than their surgeons do, so there are things they tell me they won't tell their surgeons. 9 out of every 10 patients who have their pouches stretched beyond the norm, were soda drinkers from the start... drinking them all day long. They also over ate consistently. I just never saw it with a patient who followed those particular rules.
That’s me. Go out to eat and finish the meal in the next few hours. Had gastric sleeve 2013 and going for revision in 2 weeks. This time around I will be a lot more mindful. ❤
Its very easy to strech a pouch and i am proof of it. I took my mini gastric bypass in january 2021 and i lost 54 kilograms BUT i got the severe depression and started on antidepressants and they made me always hungry and craving for sweets and junk food. First i could feel when i was full when i ate but with time that vanished and now i can eat just like i did before operation, no issues what so ever and i have gained half of what i lost so i am overweight again. Unfortunatly your pouch can strech so watch what you eat and stay mentaly healthy.
How? I'm almost 10 months out and I still can't finish my plates. I mean, you explained HOW but I'm asking how did you not want to stop eating once you hit that wall of throat gurgling and discomfort. It is from snacking all day? Like, a slow,. gradual gain from eating one too many m&m's over time.
@@roseyposey893 that wall of throat gurgling and discomfort was always my sign to stop eating and i thought it will always be there and as long as i had that i didnt gain any weight but one day it was just gone, that feeling of discomfort was gone somehow 🤷.
I am so sorry you went through this. I am over a year post op and gained 3 kg back. I am worried b3 ause I can eat normal and over eat now. I want to go back to eating small but I'm not coping too.
The stretching of the pouch isn't what makes you want to eat/crave stuff. It's hormones. In your case, the antidepressant messed with your hormones. The stomach is a balloon. It is natural for it to stretch.
I had a revision but I can tell I can eat more and I don't get that full feeling. I know my stomach was made smaller but don't think pouch was. Can I have another revision. I had Roux-en-Y in Feb 2003. I never knew all this information. Immso guilty of lance peanut butter crackers. Im crying. I graze all day and inactive mostly after 4 back surgeries. I need a do over

I remember reading that you can out-eat your pouch. Especially if you graze during the day. 😊
Best information I've seen so far without being judgy. Makes sense
Thank you
