Dig your vids! Can't lie, the debates about the fastest and flattest pistols are getting old. If it's a comped or ported 9mm, it's gonna be fast and flat. Period. Once it that realm just consider price, wait time, the company you're investing in, aesthetics, dependability, personal preference, etc. F the minutia. Regardless, just subscribed.
The ported Eos is one hell of a good lookin edc on paper. I’d love to see what you think about it in person. Hope you’re having a good weekend, Marksman 🫡
Great video, total dad here in Georgia, always enjoy your videos, I shoot a good bit of local IDPA, just for fun, staccato P, would totally love an Atlas
I own all three of these guns and I couldn't agree with you more. I've also updated the grip and the trigger on my XC and it still doesn't reach the heights of the Erebus.
Hey Fam! I just got an Atlas Athena and I swear it damn near shoots as good as my XC. So that makes me think; What's my next Atlas? or and the sad part is, I still need to enjoy this one a whole lot more. But it's SO good, it makes my mind go to the 'next' one. Uh oh. I may not however upgrade grip or trigger on my XC. Why not put those dollars toward a different blaster at this level?
Thank you sir extremely helpful...I got the XC currently running it in open and my P in Limited Optics...now Im stuck between Athena and Erebus (both is not an option lol).
I did the same thing. But very shortly after getting the XC, I got the Atlas Athena. Shooting both of them is a religious experience, lol ..And at this level of Atlas, it just juices my lust for the next Atlas. It's on another level. But the XC is so good, I don't see selling it to fund an Erebus which is probably even nicer.
That’s the same thing I like in XC better than Erebus, the look, the comp in Erebus makes it having an overbite, the comp in XC has a complete covered look all over the barrel.
The grip has interchangeable panels on both models. So you can them flat, palm swell or stepped and you can get them in brass to add weight. Its really very cool.
Yes and if you order either one directly from Atlas, you can choose whichever upgraded panels you want at no extra cost and they also still include the flat panels at no additional cost. Otherwise, you'll pay for them later if you decide you want them. I thought that was pretty cool of Atlas to do.
I love this channel! David how does the athena stack up to the Apollo? I want to get athena but if apollo is way better ill step up. I have seen grandmasters shoot the athena almost as fast
Damn those are some stunning blasters sir! I think you had the same thought I had recently on the double stacks; a staight 1911 grip that is fat is not as good as one like Atlas, MPA, or Cheely with that ergo hump like a CZ/Beretta hump interesting. Thanks for the video killer XC grip enhancement she is hawt.
I'm down here in Texas slumming it with a Staccato C-2. But I did make it mine. Thinned grip, lapped barrel, ported and comped the bbl....One sweet Carry gun. I retired my Les Baer TRS now due to the weight. (Wish the quality of the Staccato was a bit closer to the Baer). Hit 70 now and slowing down just a little. ;
In terms of aesthetics I might be in the minority but for me Staccato's just look better than Atlas Guns. Mainly the grip modules. That said the bbq analogy works. But I'd almost go this route. It's like a truck, let's say an F150. The Atlas guns are like a Platinum or limited trim. You get the functionality of a truck but the refinement and luxury options. The Staccato I'd say is a raptor. Made for more rugged use IE duty use. This video was super cool to watch and see how each gun compares.
Yep, n the Minority! If my Staccato is any indication, the Staccato will be worn out before the Atlas has so much as figured it isn't still brand spanking new. So much for Ford tough! Much less Raptor tough!!! the top of the hammer on y C2 was worn down by the slide by 35 thousandths in the first 500 rounds. Supposed to not be mim. Guess they forgot to heat treat it. Pitiful! My Les Baer has many thousands of rounds thru her with NO Hammer wear whatsoever! KnifeMaker
It’s like u read my mind, I have been wondering which shoots flatter between ported and comped. Wouldnt comped be harder to clean compared to ported? I know ported can get dirty fast but should be easier to clean than comp right?
Depends on the ammo you shoot - great ammo like JHP reloads only deposit carbon in comps which is pretty easy to get out - poly coated will deposit coating in the comp and that’s kind of tough plated are no go in ports. Port guns need the barrel cleaned more regularly than comps do
I went with ports and the milled in comp. Love it. Yep, the slide on the Erebus is hitting the frame a good bit harder. Obvious in he slo-mo. KnifeMaker
I own the Erebus and a Ares ported Athena that is tuned (which is essentially an Apollo. Or rather the Apollo is a ported and tuned Athena). I have owned the XC (and kind of miss it) and i shoot every weekend with a friend with a vey tricked out XC (steel Cheely grip, Infinity internals). I couldn’t agree more with this description. Ports are NOT better than compensators on this comparison. But they ARE pretty close. The thing I noticed the most is the minuscule difference between the triggers. While they’re both 1.5-1.6 pounds on the Lyman gauge, my Athena breaks slightly easier. My Erebus has slightly more pre travel. Neither is suffering.
Been going back-and-forth for a month which one to order the Erebus or the Apollo. Don’t care for the look on the Erebus but the performance is unmatched.

Now my opinion might be bias because I’m a poor and can’t afford an atlas but there gets a point of diminishing returns and I wonder if you can feel the difference for the price.
