- Street running train in Franklin, Ohio, railroad diamonds in Marion, Ohio, awesome Norfolk Southern locomotives in action and a cross buck protected railroad crossing. What do you think about the street running track on the industrial spur that also goes over the big trestle over the Great Miami River? Not many trains use the street runner section. There is only one customer that is served by the street running track and they don't use the track every day. The train that works the Franklin Industrial spur, L-04, also does some switching on the other side of the river on the same spur. I filmed the locomotive running down the street on its way to pick up some cars from the other side of the river. They coupled onto some covered hoppers and I filmed them again crossing the road at a cross buck protected crossing in Franklin. I think its awesome to see the trains run down the middle of the street here. The only better place in Ohio for street runners is in Marietta. See my Street Running Trains section to see trains in the street in Marietta: • Street Running Trains This video also includes bonus footage that I never posted in Marion, Ohio on the Norfolk Southern line at the railroad diamonds. The train in Franklin, Ohio was filmed on November 30, 2021. Thanks for watching! I really appreciate your support! Please leave a comment, rate up or down and PLEASE SUBSCRIBE TO JAWTOOTH!!

Holy smokes that train with 4 engines was a monster surprised the traffic on the road wasn’t backed up like to half a mile thought that long train was never going to end must’ve taken about a day or so to hook up all the cars great catch as usual watching you from Alberta Canada
That insulated joint just off the bridge has seen better days, but the old saying is if it ain’t broke don’t fix it !
That train was like the Energizer Bunny. It keeps going and going.
If you look closely at the rear bogie of the last car on the train, you can see that the left axle in the direction of travel is not turning. This is because the white point located very close to the axle axis is stationary. The axle is therefore locked and slips on the rail. The cause is probably a blocked brake on this axle. If the problem lasts too long, a flat area may form on the tread surface.
The defect detector will grab it
You can often hear the cars with flats on their wheels as they clatter by in the middle of quiet running cars in a consist. Not a good thing for the track - or the cars!
Nice find mate
I noticed that too. I couldn't' hear the different sound that Jawtooth mentioned.
Thanks captain obvious
Gotta love the short lines! That locomotive by itself on the street looked like some kind of a weird buss or something!
You ever been train watching in Berea Ohio before? I heard Berea Ohio is a busy train spot.
Hell yeah! These Diamond intersections give me the ASMR that I need.
Thank you so much for fetching that Recording Jaw!
Thanks for watching!
Those cars make some crazy drumbeats! Thanks, JT!
I just love those street runners.
The long train crossing the diamond free includes "Rail box" wagons, the classic and vintage sensation in the moment!!
🇱🇷🚂🚂🚂🎃🎃😺😺😃😃😄😀😀😍😍😍🎄😁😁😁
Love old bridge nice train horn sound good
WOW 205 cars! thats some hauling for a cuatro. LOVE IT.
Us too!
Thanks for another great video! God Bless and Merry Christmas!!
Merry Christmas to you and your family
John Uckley got a lot of good stills 🎥 ( 35mm shots ) from that location many years ago. He was a contributing editor at Rail Classics magazine.
That’s awesome the age of them old iron tie rail plates.
Awesome view from that tower. Love hearing the train go over the diamonds. And that street runner's cool. Have a nice day😊👍👍👍👍👍
Thank you! You too!
I think its meter gauge..
Like if you enjoy the drum sound by those wheels😄
Probably because I’m a drummer, but I love the rhythms of the wheels going over that crossover, and how they change with the lengths of the various cars! Well done, Jawtooth!
glad I'm not the only one, I was thinking "if you marshalled those wagons differently"
If Neil Peart was still alive, I am certain that he would have tried to create samples for his electronic percussion setup. I am sure he could manually recreate the sounds of the steel wheels crossing and create a nifty entertaining video to go along with that!
@@JaguarXJRman The sound of Wheels going over joints and points work, familiar clunky de clunk is very therapeutic or mesmerizing.
I reckon someone could make a CD of it and make money on it, although I'm pretty sure their are Soundtracks already!
You think how rare are double diamond's are with 2 C S X and southern pacific tracks
That big ole’ engine going down the street is so cool! I’m amazed at the age of some of the rails still in use. Thanks, Jaw Tooth.
Thanks for watching
Amazing videos jaw tooth keep up with the good work
Thanks a ton!
Thanks for the videos. Realy enjoyed them. The loco street run and bridge was great.
Glad you like them!
Epic jawtooth I love seeing your videos first thing when I get up it is what gets my day going
I love it when those orange Hoppers cross the diamonds. There's no Gap in between the clickety clacking
Erie, PA had some street running up around till about 2000-1. The Marion rr station anb b bb;8naill associated buildings is a beautiful campus. When was there in March, 2000. The one day I visited the station, a nut for the fastening of the diamond, was unscrewing as the train went over the diamond. It was fixed the next day.
Indeed stuff cheers Jt. Chris from England
Great video Jawtooth! That street running train is such a cool location, I hope that crew has chilled out now, I still cant believe how they called in on you for just filming that time. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you very much! They don't wave for some reason but I just want to film the train anyway. The engineer is a woman but not very friendly.
Its cool each car size has a different sound gpin over the diamond. Cool video son!!
Thanks 👍
Man I would like to see JawTooth go to Dunkirk, NY to team up with WWOT for some CSX And NS action that would be awesome.
Look you the the tank cars????
They are of 2 sizes!!!!...
Amazing revelation!!!
🇱🇷🎄🎄🚂🚂🚂🎃😺😃😃😄😀😍😍😍😁😁😁😁😁
Before the Christmas, enjoy the trains this last month...
Don't lose you the show...
🇱🇷🚂🚂🚂🚂🎃🎃😺😺😃😄😀😀😍😍🎄🎄😁😁😁
Happy holidays!
I love your videos Jaw Tooth! You have a comfortable demeanor and these videos are among those I watch to relax. Right behind the house where our past mayor used to live is a hill and at the bottom of the hill are originally Conrail tracks (PA) and now Norfolk Southern and SEPTA (Southeast Pennsylvania Transit Authority) use them. I love when the trains run at night. I didn't think I would get used to the sound, but I love it! Have a Great Day Jaw Tooth and all Train Fans!❤🚂❤
I ran trains all thru Ohio in the early 2000’s.
Conrail issued my locomotives license.
Worked out of Toledo.OH.
Central Union Terminal. (CUT).
Ran to Buffalo, Frontier.
Conway , Pittsburg.
Big Four, Indianapolis.
Collinwood, Cleveland
Dickinson, West Va
It’s great seein all these things again.
Retired from CSX.
And Conway Yard. Pittsburgh.
Collinwood Cleveland.
Since leaving CSX.
I hired out at MTA NzYCT.
This’ll be the last stop 🛑.
Good camera. I could read GP38-2 on the engine at 1:48.
Those diamonds really take a beating.
A great video, with a long train. And the street train was neat. 👍😊🇺🇸
Hey Jaw Tooth! You're right that last car was dragging the third axle. keep them videos coming son!
Real nice pan from that 18 or20 foot elevation!, wheels doing the joint dance"!
Always love seeing those double/doubles.
Great shot from the tower.
Take care and safe travels.
That wildcat's going down the street like an old trolley car! Beautiful footage.
Thanks for your comments!
With that last train, it sounded like constant fireworks going off when the wheels were hitting the diamond.
Even though I have experienced American freights on a rail based vacation, I still find your videos awesome so thanks for posting.
I really enjo street runners :) Great bonus footage - a double diamond! When you look at the cars on that last train - what a variety of stuff! Gondolas with who knows what in them, boxcars, tankers, etc. Very cool - and that is a great angle :)
Thank you very much!
Love seeing the street runners. Wasn't that the same place where that conductor was hatin on you?
Yes
That one and there was one on a Middletown spur that had a burr in his saddle with JT too! You must look shady JT 🤣
I think, the only people who dislike JT filming, are the goof offs and short cut rule changer. A fan video FORCES them to do things the right way
Yup he didn't get the bird this time!
@@TheCheffydave We ran into a fellow railfanner down at the Hamilton Interlocking this summer, and when I brought up JT's vids, he had nothing good to say. But it was obvious this was one of those "unless I do it, it can't be good" types. My grandson, who is usually pretty quiet and reserved even let him have it a little bit. Many of our favorite spots here in SW OH, JT showed us.
Hey Jawtooth. That was a really cool video. The bridge, the tower, and the street runnin train. Thanks 👍👍👍❤️
Great long mixed freight crossing double diamonds. Very interesting video!! (You always have fascinating details 🤗...Good stuff!)
14:30 that biker's standing right on the opposite track while the gates were down, there could've been another train coming
Marion Ohio was known as the haunted city circa late 1970's. Many ex-Erie Lackawanna, Reading, Lehigh Valley, and Penn Central units passed by that location in full defunct paint schemes with two different fonts of " CR " styles on the sides and noses. One used the CR initials from Penn Central. The other used the " CR " font from the new ConRail. Norfolk & Western was the other road through Marion.
These are great shots you always get the best. I love to watch Street running. I can remember back I took Amtrak 1978 New Orleans to Chicago to Seattle and back to LA. We would fly through towns in the middle of the night we're all the businesses were right next to the track.
Thank you very much!
Marion is an awesome place. A must stop for any railfan. Live action coming from all sides. And that museum tower is really cool with Armstrong levers that you can move, but non-functioning. Plus there was an operating semaphore inside the tower. Cool place.
Great train & animal action!! Thank you very much Mr. Jaw Tooth!! 😀👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Hi Shouts out from Florence South Carolina I really enjoy your channel have you ever been to Deshler Ohio there are a lot of trains that go through Deshler
The train that keeps on giving...clickety clack....🙂
HOW COOL IS THIS ONE ... GIVE IT A 10 JT
listening to trains over the diamonds is music to my ears
Never knew how much I absolutely love street running trains until coming across such videos on TH-cam. Thanks, sir!
Glad you enjoyed it!
I didn't know there was some street running in Franklin, Ohio. That's real cool!
Marion is one of my favorite places in Ohio to watch trains.
I have a bunch of videos of street running trains in Franklin, Ohio. Check out my Street Running playlist
The next one (at the diamonds) was counted at 201 cars plus 4 locomotives.
199 bogies with 4 lead locos. HUMONGOUSLY AWESOME
Dang, you even got a bird's-eye view of a passing by train?! You lucky son of a- 7:30 😆
I like the older box cars that have the pointed roofs, unlike the news ones that are flat.
AWESOME CATCH FROM THE TOWER, that was a L. O. N. G train. Love the sound of it “pounding the diamonds” GREAT JOB BRIAN!!!
The wheels get the worst of a diamond crossing. ( LOL ) That street runner engine is in great shape. Usually they use the old beaters for the local runs.
That is just the coolest thing ever. I have often wondered if those tracks in Franklin were still used. Thank you, Jawtooth.
If you want to know if tracks are in service go to a spot next to, but off of a crossing and check to see if the top of the rail is shinny or rusty. If it’s just a light surface rust it could mean there has not been a train recently. Rail will get some surface rust over night if it rains, has some dew, or other moisture. Which will go back to being shinny once a train with a few cars runs over it. If it’s heavily rusted it could be out of service or even abandoned.
Thank you again! You're the best Jaw Tooth! 🚂 🚃 🚃 🚃 🚃 🚃 🚃
What model horn is on NS 5338? They really moved a lot of cars out of any nearby big yard with that train.
They love it when you feed them hotdogs.
Another excellent find Jaw Tooth. Great way to start the day watching the pack enjoy a sunny fall day. Hope you have a great day as well !
I live in Marion Ohio my grandfather worked at old Erie railroad and Conrail nice to see you in Marion Ohio
Awesome! Thanks for your comments Rick!
Love to see more of street running trains and love to see some Columbus Ohio trains
Good Morning Jaw Tooth!
Good morning!
Street running and diamonds, what more could you want.
Wounderfull. Greetings from Berlin/ Germany. Sven
Like Ernest would say, "Hey Vern ,Jaw tooth videos would make a freight train take a dirt road, know what mean Vern"....👍
Utica NY , barley deliveries to the brewery has the best street action
Yes, Schuyler Street is definitely on my list to film
It'd be awesome to live in the house on the corner before the trestle.
Thanks for sharing 👍
That would be cool!
Gotta love the noise of the wheels hitting the diamond
That first shot looking down the bridge is pure gold. Beautiful day for recording.
Wonderful video!
That car on the end of the train you said sounded funny well if you look real close the front wheel on rear set of wheels on that last car is not turning. Check it out.
Had to run it again on full screen but your right. Good eye.
@@chaosdemonwolf1 It was your good ear because I didn't hear it.
@@danmyster11 Fair enough. 😆
I didn't think they would use these old rails. 😮This is cool watching a NS going down a street. Wow three NS locomotives and what a chattering railroad. Nice long train. Enjoyed this video. 😊your live action animals are cool. Always make our day. Thanks so much for another awesome video. Take care Mr JT.❤😊
For some good street running, downtown Fayetteville NC has a line that runs down the middle of Russel St for over a mile and then switches the industries there, around lunch time, blocking traffic for a while. I've been stuck there many times when I lived there.
Man that's a long one, and noisy too. Emptied out a lot somewhere on that one.
Kitty's getting big and the pups are always cool 😎.
I LOVE the sound of those diamonds!!!!
excellent excellent bonus footage, such an amazing racket coming from wheels hitting the diamond. nice one JT
Thanks 👍
Loved the street running in Franklin the old Cincinnati northern line
ChainsawN&W1218,I think Virtual Rail Fan has a camera there at those diamonds,NS pounding the diamonds,EMD GP38-2 on NS train street running.
My wife's great grandfather drove a K5A Pacific and then an Alco PA out of Marion Ohio for the Erie railroad. Pretty cool to see a bit of what may have been his old stomping grounds. Thanks for the video!
Poor Norfie doesn't have much of a singing voice, does she. My short pal Luke always perks up for Chessie and the crew. Yours is the only content he'll pay attention to so you get a double like from here.
That person just crossed in front of the train . An understandable blow of horn.
great video............and that norfie is JUST THE NEATEST..........MAN IS HE CUTE..........HE LOOKS AS HEALTHY AS EVER.............GOOD JOB.............
This was AC tower. moved from the other side of tracks when taken out of service and placed next to depot.
AC stands for "Atlantic Crossing."
This is the longest train I've seen on video pounding these diamonds. It was cool!
Great views of both trains
Second train was a long one
AWESOME job
Very cool 😎 👌
Thanks again for sharing 😊
I love to hear them train pound them diamonds thank you keep them coming other good one you do well thank you very much
Thanks, will do!
Jaw tooth and it great place watch trains from middle of street ❤ 😊
Wow those diamonds take a heck of a pounding.
Wow bird's-eye view of the diamonds!
It would be fun to bump into you sometime when you're in Marion, Oh. I live not far from that train station and have been inside that control tower when it was in Operation. A friendly guy named Pete ran the tower at the time. He gave me a lot of information about the signals and would allow me to sometimes pull the switches.
I think NS has a lot of empty rail yards because of this train. What a great mixed freight. I liked the newer orange grainers.
Love this street runner! First video I’ve been able to watch for a week. Been on vacation so no TH-cam until now.
I know that bike path in Franklin quite well. I was one of the land surveyors staking the bike path out. Half the parking lot was taken up for the bike path next to the train tracks right before across the bridge over the Miami River.
Awesome! Have you ever got to see a train cross the bike trail?
@@JawTooth probably so but it's been awhile. I just remember there used to be more train activity in town.
AWESOME!!!😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉
