Standing Between 2 Passing Trains! RR Diamonds, Heavy Coal Train With DPU, Jersey Central Lines

- Standing Between CSX & Norfolk Southern Trains Passing! Railroad Diamonds In Marion, Ohio Train Goes Under Me. CSX Railroad Switching At The Diamonds With Huge Auto Racks Train. Jersey Central Lines Heritage Locomotive leads a Norfolk Southern intermodal train over the RR diamonds. First, we see 2 trains passing at the railroad crossing in front of the Marion train station. Both trains came at the same time so I had to figure out which one to film since I was between them. I like heavy coal trains so I went with it and the coal train had a mid train DPU. A Norfolk Southern intermodal train on one side of me and a CSX coal train with DPU on the other side. Is that awesome or what?!! Then I got on the railroad tower next to the diamonds and filmed the Jersey Central Lines heritage unit leading a southbound NS intermodal and trailer train. Next we see a huge CSX auto racks train go across the diamonds and reverse while doing some yard switching. Then we see the NS maintenance of way crew working on the railroad crossing gates. Last scene is a CSX intermodal train going east across the diamonds. I cut the video there or it would have been a half hour long video. Don't forget Chessie, Norfie and the slide show!

Rattle the diamonds they call it. The diamonds on the CSX Boston Line/Amtrak crossing in Springfield, MA is under a highway overpass so it causes a nice echo.
That intermodal train going over the diamond with the CRNJ heritage unit was epic and always the best from this channel keep it up! 😀
Greetings CP, from an adult growing up on CP. walk the tracks: 20 steps, look back. Even on double track. Those AB units are almost silent on passenger trains. 2nd time I saved my buddies life. First time in deep water coz he couldn’t swim; 2nd time with a silent AB passenger coz I know how to walk the tracks.
A nice double diamond with the "music" it makes :) Some nice 5 car sets of articulated cars that I could count from the noise on the diamonds. A busy day in Marion for sure.

That was cool that you caught both the coal train and the IM at the same time. That DPU was sure cranking it. I was sort of falling asleep as the video was playing. I turned the sound down and the sound of the trains crossing the diamonds was so hypnotic. Great video.

The coal train was cool. Hauling all that power for electric cars. Those CSX DPUs were working hard! Have a safe and happy 4th!!!
Hard to believe but if the coal is burned in a modern high efficiency coal plant with good scrubbers and that electricity is used to power electric cars, it can be more efficient than gasoline, especially in stop-and-go city driving.
In California in places with rolling blackouts, they use diesel generators to power charging stations for electric cars. Boy if that doesn't defeat the purpose. But on another note, you can call your car a "diesel-electric" just like train engines. But a CSX or NS, or BNSF on any other name on it and you can feel like an engineer.😀

The freight with the Jersey Central Heritage ACE brought back memories of Mom and I picking up my Uncle Jimmy at the train station in New Jersey.
I'll never forget the Jersey Central F-3s leading his passenger train in that Gawd awful navy blue and orange color scheme.
Jim worked in Midtown Manhattan for Eastern Airlines when they were based there.
The JC was the last of his intermodal stops to Matawan,N.J.

J.T.: To catch two trains simultaneously two cameras are needed. The second one could be an old smartphone or tablet on a trfpod with a smartphone/tablet mount, or a smartphone/tablet stand.
Squinting the eyes in sunshine indicates that the eyes are being unduly stressed: a broadbrimmed hat (preferably light colored) and/or sunglasses would help.
nice 2 dpu s running . I like the sound they make while going by. Jaw Tooth If ever in Indiana check out the line top of state East West To Chicago. In Kendallville In trains go by about every 15 mins , Long ones. 170 cars plus. 3 hours at track 11 train videos.
Mainly NS some CN CP BNSF and UP. Longest one 251 intermodal freight double stacked CN with DPU.
I love seeing coal trains coming back, the Intermodal may have better contents but Coal trains have Character, besides you JT a character by yourself....Norfie & Chessie both looking great!
Wow that was insane honestly im not used to seeing two trains going by all at once like that literally that was the most rarest thing I've ever seen but none the less still pretty awesome
With the number of exceptional videos that you are able to put out and the coverage you provide in each of them and your response time to comments and now on top of that you attach your own comments to certain subsets of viewers advising the car counters in this case about things that they should
be aware of in the current video.
There were one or two other channels that had pretty good content of a similar nature, but for some reason I can't remember what they were anymore! Keep up the excellent work JT!

Love the NJ heritage unit!!! I like that NS made heritage units for both the big and short line railroads! CSX needs to make some Chessie units.
And CSX needs to have some Seaboard System units also.

Jaw Tooth, I grew up in Marion, OH. Our church used to be on Silver Street between those same 2 rails. The were just a bit farther apart at that point, but during church, we could see the CSX (formerly Chessie System) out to the west windows. But due to the house beside the church, couldn’t see the N&W. You posting this brings back a lot of memories for me.
The N & W ran alongside the scrap yard right there.
I’ve also been to that spot to watch trains rattle over the diamonds, it’s been at least 40 years or so ago.

Auto racks were coming from the 2 Auto plants run by Honda....via Mount Victory- Ridgeway....2 HUGE yards, one at each plant....
East side of Marion...CSX line....HUGE Schnieder Intermodal yard

I liked the coal train. You don't see them much anymore, there used to be a tipple in Dongola KY where you could be stuck for an hour or more while they loaded the coal gons but I didn't mind unless it was really hot.

Noisy passage of the container train on a right-angle crossing of 4 tracks. This is an area subject to significant mechanical stresses which must be regularly checked.

I know I had said before auto rack trains loaded everytime that's why it's slow to a stop and it's about to switch tracks. Yes it's a shiner for real. Look at the diamond it's always busy. 🤩👍 CSX intermodal diamond moving on rail

I was thinking of you yesterday here in Springfield I saw an I&O train with 4 locomotives and right after that at the next crossing a long NS train went through town

What a great railfanning location
I grew up near the North Jersey Coast Line and saw these and some much older. Back then we had gate keepers that would wait in the tower for the train and take weights off to make the gates drop. Keep em coming!
Went to Portsmouth, Ohio on Thurs, and from Portsmouth to Lucasville/Piketon a lot of work going on, replacing ties and tamping, along 23.
I am planning on going to Circleville soon. I like that line and having CSX nearby is a plus
JT may need couple drones with cameras to film multiple trains at the same time

Another thing that's pretty rare now is seeing Heritage unit trains like that was honestly just incredible that the Norfolk southern New Jersey Heritage unit showed up all of a sudden

The CNJ heritage unit has been on this train for quite while. It's been making the rounds for about a month.
But i mean if you think about it the Heritage units kinda disappeared for a while until this month started and than they all of a sudden showed up again
