Come check the old diamond in Peoria OH. Just north of Marysville. Diamond is gone but they have a north / south connection to service Honda America and another spur goes through Peoria to the power station. I’m about 8 miles north on that main and average 8-12 trains per day. Good mix of auto racks for Honda, mixed freight and coal.
Other than the first 3, the remaining 10 trailing units are SD70ACU's which NS rebuilt from UP SD9043's. With their logo removed from the sides, it would appear they've been sold and are on the way to the buyer.
I belive they were sold to the New York and Susquehanna. They stenciled in the logo and now on the mainline in north jersey and southern upstate New York.
That was something. Locos needed somewhere business is good. Hey Jawtooth you said you used to be a fireman in Goshen I was a fireman for about 18 years with Harlan Twp. Warren County Ohio. We may have crossed paths at some time. I had family that lived up the road from where you lived in Loveland as well Their last name was Perry. Enjoy watching your videos everyday. Great LIVE ACTION!
Wow. That’s a ton of power. And one heck of a long train at the end. Seems like they just keep making them longer and longer these days. Great video. Love it.
Wow that looked like new units in that Power Move (13 locos total, 11 appear to be new, 1 w/ NS badges)! Biggest move I have seen so far with live action. Superb catch (especially the Pan Am throwback Box Car) and thanks for keeping these videos coming!!
Ex Union Pacific SD9043MACs, NS bought 100 of them several years ago and rebuilt program to SD70ACU, now out of service and belong to PRLX leasing Pan Am is CSX now! Major upgrades of the system are planned.
The first 3 locos are easy to identify, but the 10 following bear the the mark PRLX for Progress Rail. The SD70ACUs were rebuilt from SD70Macs beginning in 2015 by NS anf Progress Rail, and continue to be rebuilt today. Judging from the base color, NS may be taking possession of those extra 10 units. SUSPICION CONFIRMED: NS 7229-7339 are indeed NS/Progress Rail rebuilds. All they need now is the white paiint.
Great video Jaw. We were there this year before the total eclipse and spent a couple of hours watching trains through those crossings. A number of the Amish were there as well train watching before the main event. Thanks for sharing that train.
I have very fond memories of trainwatching in Marion back when I was a grad student at Ohio State. It was pretty insane watching the sheer level of traffic go by the junctions, and the restored junction tower was a lot of fun to visit (and provided great views of the tracks). Only real problem was a lack of bathrooms near the junction, and when you live with Crohn's that's a MAJOR issue, so I didn't get to come out near as often as I wanted to.
@desmondnolastname2663 They might have. Back when I was there the only bathrooms available were at the model railroad clubhouse, and when that was closed, you had to go into one of the nearby businesses - who were quite reluctant to allow anyone to use their bathrooms outside of (local) customers. Where are the new bathrooms located? Heaven only knows I wished I'd known they put some in!
let’s go!!!! power moves are BY FAR the coolest thing in railroading. add to it that the locos being moved are all EMDs (the best loco) and i’m in for a treat! no fake props!
Next time you are in Utah, could you please let me know. I would love to shake your hand and meet you. Great video this morning. Bob Cooney have a great weekend and Happy 4th of July.
Oh my! That was a lot of liquid on rails. That train was over 13,000’. One locomotive for each 1000’. That was an impressive video. Marion is nothing like the boonies on the Cincinnati Eastern. They don’t own enough track for a train this long, and I know they don’t own 13 engines! I heard they were switching grain cars into a siding, and asked if you could couple your pick up to help with one of their jobs. Are you on their payroll? Should be. What a hotbed of commerce that short line is. Takes all kinds. America is a railroad buffet. I love the sounds of the trains, and you don’t say a word till the end. Marvelous. Great touch. I enjoy your videos very much. Haven’t heard “they emptied the yard on that one!” lately. What’s the hurry? Classic Jaw Tooth. A legend of railfanning. Thanks for your love of RR’s.
Never thought I'd get to say this, but it was awesome getting to meet and talk with you the day you shot this in Marion!!..I was the guy sitting under the AC tower with you and Scott lol...
Thank you for documenting these trains at Marion, Ohio on 28 June 2022, Jaw Tooth! Those Progress Rail Leasing locomotives looked new but I think that was just cosmetic since Norfolk Southern probably painted out their logo on the sides of the locomotives before selling them to Progress Leasing. I wonder where the Progress Rail locomotives were going. Progress Rail is headquartered in Alabama but they have some kind of facilities in East Chicago, Indiana and McCook, Illinois. I wonder why that sign at the railroad crossing said that the crossing would be closed starting on May 22, 2022 was still there is you captured the trains in this video on 28 June 2022? The former Pan Am boxcar was a nice catch.
Recently in the local Muncie, Indiana newspaper was a photo of about 13 locomotives leaving the Progress Rail facility just outside Muncie. They look like those.
@@beverlymichael5830 Jaw Tooth captured the Norfolk Southern train on 28 June 2022. If the photo printed in the newspaper after the 28th of June, there is a good chance that some of these locomotives could be in the photo. Are the locomotive numbers readable in the newspaper photo? If the numbers are readable, you can run Jaw Tooth's video again to see if any of the numbers match.
What a video! That was something that there was that Pan Am boxcar on that first train. You would think that the car would have been repainted or scrapped by now. Back in the 80s I had applied for a job working for the security force protecting the Kennedy Space Center. It was a contract that Pan Am World Services , a remnant of the old airline, had to serve the center out on the working part where the launch pads were. Even though the security force wwas private they were no joke. The officers wore BDUs, carried a full pop M-16 and a semi auto handgun sidearm and these people were authorized to kill those who dared to try to enter the restricted areas. Big red signs said: "Deadly Use of Force is Authorized Beyond This Point." I didn't get the job. Excellent video catching the train crossing the double diamond.
Great video! Hey, I checked out 1960gambit, he has some really good stuff on his channel! I subscribed! Those last 9 or 10 locomotives were for a leasing company. The "X" at the end of the reporting marks signifies it.

Good Morning Jaw Tooth. Wow, that was an awesome train. I lost count of how many locomotives there were. And I love those mechanical bells. They outshine e-bells. And there was a signal bridge by the fire station at 17:57. Is that a CSX line also? Awesome video. Stay cool and have a nice July 4th
That shur made one hell of a racquet! Oh My Lord!!
Thanks for watching !
Yea, you can hear these diamonds rumble all through west side Marion.
I had to watch these 13 locomotives again ... Good vid ...

No wonder those diamond crossings wear out so quickly. Have they ever attempted to find any solutions for that, besides a grade separated crossing?
