How to adjust the brightness on a Chromebook's Backlit keyboard

If your Chromebook has a Backlit keyboard, you might have wondered how you can adjust its brightness, or turn it off completely. So in this video, we demonstrate which combination of keyboard buttons you have to press in order to change your Chromebook's Backlit keyboards brightness.
Please note that the model of Chromebook used in this video is an Asus C302C [amzn.to/2Rmnm4G], and not all models of Chromebook have a Backlit keyboard as standard. It's also worth noting that turning off your Backlit keyboard can help to save battery life, so is an option to consider using as your battery drains.

When I first got my Chromebook I liked the bright backlit keyboard, but now that I'm ready to turn it down, I couldn't figure out how, this tutorial makes it easy. Mentioning in the description that the backlight can drain the battery faster is useful because I didn't consider turning down the lights!

Doesn't work- i have a new hp chromebook x360 14c-ca0053dx model - can i change the color of the backlit keyboard. no f keys, no fn key, no dim key, already went into device settings and set it to allow me to use top keys as f keys.. did nothing.. i want to know if i can adjust the brightness and/or adjust the color.. hp site of no use either :(

Thank you so much for this tutorial! Apparently they don't include user manuals with the laptops anymore; I have to go online and go through a process and download it. This helped so much! I did exactly as instructed and it worked. I couldn't see my letters on my keyboard because of the faint light in the background of it, and pressed ALT + the icon mentioned all the way until there was no longer light and I could totally see my letters! I'm so happy. Little joys in life! I will do the opposite at night and see how the keyboard looks with a fully lit keyboard background.

Is there a way too change the default keyboard brightness? Once I max it out then turn off the Chromebook it always seems to reset back too very dim.

I checked my Chromebook and it does the same thing. As I don't think my model of Chromebook has an ambient light sensor. I suspect that the default settings to the keyboard brightness, have been set by the manufacturer. Possibly to save battery life.

The model of Chromebook in the video is an Asus C302C. However, not all Chromebook's have backlit keyboards.
Having just checked the specs for a Samsung Chromebook 4, it looks like your model of Chromebook does not include a backlit keyboard.

Not all Chromebook’s have backlit keyboards, so if you have never seen your keyboard light up. More than likely your model of Chromebook does not. Sorry.
