I bought a TYM T T264 3 months ago with industrial tires and with what I have done with it so far, I have no doubt it will smoke any snow I get on the driveway! Before I bought the tractor, I used my Commercial Gravely ZTR with turf tires and a 60" cycle country plow I modified. Pressured down the tires and it ripped. 1200 lb machine, 13 gallons of fuel and I way 245. All sitting on the rear tires. Having separate drive motors really helped turning. I have chains but never use them, I don't want to mar up the driveway.
Yessir, your TYM will indeed smoke that snow, no worries there. That's a nice tractor....makes some vids doing stuff with it, man! I'm curious about the plow on your Gravely. I've seen vids of them mounted on sit-down z-turns, but I especially like them mounted on stander mowers. Looks like blast plowing with a stander, from vids I've seen. Toro Grandstands have factory kits for them (Multi-force), but I may fabricobble something for my Bradley just for fun.
Very good tips on the tire air and use the features of the tractor to get the job done! Glad the plow is working out so good. Have a good week! See ya!
Nice video! And I agree with you about the R4's. I have had great success with mine in the snow. I clear a neighbor's long driveway with my tractor and 3ph snowblower. It is a fairly steep incline. The tires only slip when it is very icy, but I am still able to climb it. The worst was when I had my 41-inch snowstorm. The tires slipped a little bit but was still very manageable. Thanks for sharing. See ya in the next one! - Rick
Great video. Thanks. I bought a GC1723 last year with R4 tires and use it to clear driveways and our gravel road. Definitely not level ground and the tires have done a great job for me. Only issues have been on ice and even then they have been minor. Cheers from Canada
Hi Simon, GC17xx is a great tractor! And perhaps I should also say about the r4 tires, I suppose they're not all made the same. I got no complaints for them on the GC. Maybe other brands of tractors have different brand of r4's that suck, I dunno. Where in Canada are ya?
@@pondacres Kawartha Lakes, Ontario. Moved up here from the city last March. Bought the GC1723 to make sure I could get in and out all year as our house is located on an un-assumed municipal road. Cheers,
Very nice project there! Clearly its working great by the looks of things! Bet its nice not having a boat anchor hanging off the front like mine Haha! Thanks for sharing!
I built a 72” plow for my tractor. I made it hydro turn. I set the plow geometry so as the pivot is back at the quick tach plate. This allows the plow blade to swing in the direction of the turn, and it effectively makes the plow seem wider. In other words the plow swings to the wind row side so I don’t drive on the snow. I have used R4 tires with great satisfaction. The ditch across the road most likely doesn’t belong to the neighbor, but in some areas it is an ordinance violation to plow into the road. I pile my snow the same way that you are anyways.
Nice, sounds like you got a good setup! You probably got a bigger tractor though, 72" plow would be a bit to much for the little gal I got. Yeh, the township owns some footage next to the road, so where I was pushing the snow wasn't even "her side", but whatever.
I have two Simplicity Sunstar machines. One with a loader and the other for plowing and mowing. The loader has loaded AG tires, 300lbs of wheel weight and a rear 200lb weight on the three point. Works good but I think R4 tires would be better as the AGs like to dig. For the plow tractor I have loaded HDAP tires, 250lbs wheel weights and vbar truck chains. It will move anything and it's only a 2wd machine. Last year the snow was so heavy I actually broke one of the chains pushing a pile. I run 10 PSI in the rear on both machines. Never weighed the plow tractor but the loader weighs a little over 2k lbs when all set up.
Oh hey man, those Sunstars are solid machines, my neighbor had one of those. They look cool too, with that boxy long front end, nice. You got the weight on there, yeh it will move snow! On my craftsman GT, that was my setup too, only difference is I used terra grip chains instead to protect my blacktop. How you liking the hdap tires?
@@pondacres I think the HDAP tires are the best balance for mowing and utility if you have hills to mow. The trouble I have with my AGs is they were cheap and have way too much angle to the tread to be much good at pushing. I'm thinking R4s would solve that. I have to plow up a very steep hill on my drive. That's why so much weight and aggressive chains. Nothing else has worked.
Actually, my welding is way worse than my grinding lol, but that's cool by me...so long as it holds, brother! Actually, you're the reason I showed some of the fabricating. Last year, when I posted the short vid of the plow, I remember your comment about how it's too bad I didn't show some of the fabbing. So I thought of that for this vid. Yep R4's are great man, I like em.
03:39 was almost a spit my coffee out moment. Funny to hear, but I guess not so funny when you have to deal with neighbors like that. Your plow was rocking it though!
Hey Ed wassup! The dude there is pretty cool, but his wife has been giving us a hard time since day one. That's not even "her side", the township owns the first 5' width of lawn next to the road, which service crews use for parking, snow banks when plowing, etc. But whatever, I try to keep the peace.
Seems pretty effective to me. That is a good looking tractor. I have been comparative shopping forever for a subcompact and the GC1720 and GC1725MB have lots of nice features for a more reasonable price than some of the others.
Hey there! All the scuts out there seem like good tractors, they all have their +/-'s. Like I dig JD for their easy mmm deck attachment, and how their loader attaches/detaches...but then you pay for all that convenience, right? Are MF's scuts still the cost-effective option nowadays? That's good to hear if they are. What I do like about the GC17xx is that you don't need to rev up the rpm's to work the loader/hoe, like you do with JD or Kubota scuts.
Oh the rops, yeh they were resting in the barn at the time. Currently, I got the bottom parts mounted on the tractor. Safety third. You and the tractor ok after that though?
@@pondacres Great! I like that welder, those clamps are just cheap HF and work well on the rebar projects , well worth it for holding together for welding! Thanks for watching!
Man I was subbed to your channel before, I dunno how I lost ya. But anyways, I figured your clamps are from harbor freight, that's where I go for all that sort of stuff also. You know what else I really like from there is their welding table! Yeh, those tips of yours, like the helmet cushion, I'm gonna have to do some of that.
Interesting issue with the neighbor. It’s actually illegal to push your snow across the road here and when I looked into it that is a pretty common law.
Well this here's a plow, not a snow box...the only snow pushed on her side was from the road, the same amount the township tosses there when they plow. All perfectly legal here. But yes, she did think that my little tractor was pushing all my snow down the length of my 120' driveway, and piling it all on her side lol.
I run R4 tires and have no trouble at all. I run 12 lbs in the rear and 10 in the front with a front mounted snow blower plus a rear blade. I’ve ran this setup for 3 years and haven’t been stuck. As far as the Neigbor I’d probably tell him to fuck off and mind his own business but that’s just me
The neighbor lol, well the dude there seems ok enough, it's actually his wife who's the pain in the ass. So I just follow the man code, don't wanna get into it with some lady...whatever, I try to keep the peace.
Yeh man, I'm thinking it depends on the make of tire. These GC tractors seem to do good with the industrial tires that come with them, I never seen too many complaints from owners. But then I do hear complaints from dudes on JD 1025's or whatever. So maybe different mfg of tire? There are threads on tractorbynet.com on that topic, that's what I'm basing that off.
