I hope Bruins fans never forget that Linus never wanted a trade out of Boston, probably would have excepted a 2-3 year extension for what he’s making this year. And never forget Linus won the Vezina the year before last. Linus Ullmark ✊🏼💪🏼🕶️
@@7Moonbeam6 ullmark was the much better goalie. The playoff injury was a setback but he should’ve not have been playing. But when he was at his best was at a level that Swayman will never be able to reach. Don’t forget he choked two straight years to end our playoffs.
Nothing new here, Let Sway sit for a year if 6 mil for 4 yrs isn't enough then so be it. Korpisalo has 300 Career NHL games under his belt with some sub par teams. Sway has what 42-44 per yr. at most and has never had the pressure of a #1. I say trade him. He did'nt like the arbitration process last yr that he opted for, sorry your feelings got hurt dude......but you aint worth 8 or 10 mil......keep in mind he has the same agent as Nylander had last year.....inflated ego's don't match performance....just my 2 cents.
If they can find a good trade out there, Id trade him. Even if they sign him Id be looking for a trade. He has already proven that he isnt a Bruin. The team is going to go sour on him because hes dragging this out. Thats going to cause issues in the locker room and so on. Trade Him!
Hes more a banker than a Bruin, would play wherever the biggest dollar is offered. Which not all players are like that thankfully. I mean I myself would take 7 where I know and like and have lived vs 9m to move somewhere...some would just say where is the highest pay and go.
With no real season long experience with Swayman, Boston would be buying a pig in a poke, as the saying goes. That is a very large gamble that the management may not be willing to take. Multi-year, graduated contract is what might sound best. Not the usual sort of thing but worth thinking about.
Perthaps, the ELindholm injury- that some channels are claiming might keep him out for the season -is most paramount at this junction if there is any truth to that one at all. However, the word is he's missed most of camp and the undisclosed injury is pain-related. Cheers!
Not a fan of Swayman in an interview saying he "wants to set the Goalie market for future goalies"....He should be saying he wants to get a contract signed and back in goal for the Bruins! He's more worried about future goalies then the team....If I'm Sweeney I trade him to UTAH for draft picks! He can worry about future goalies with them and a GAA OVER 3.00+
He lost me there too...greed man. I mean hes the type that likes 10m on a dump team vs 7.5 on a perennial contender. Doesn't understand nor care for the difference.
Tbh, I'm starting to think that way too. I mean, the kid is good, no doubt about it. But 10mil+8years, c'mon.. 7 to 8 mil for 8years would be the right spot imo. Otherwise, trade him to Anaheim for Dostal+Gauthier or Mintyukov and a draft pick ?
I really like Swayman and still want the Bruins to sign him, but not for more than $8 million a year. I don't see other teams banging down the door with huge offer sheets.
I think the Bruins should tell him 'here's our final offer, take it or sit out the season.' Your choice. See which teams are willing to pay you the big bucks next season when you haven't seen any real action for a year. He'd also be losing at least $3.4M by not playing.
I agree. Call his bluff and roll with Korpisalo all year if that’s what it takes. If the team torpedoes because of that, it’ll just make Swayman look even worse, and nobody will want to pay him after not only doing that much damage to a $1 billion original six franchise, but also sitting out and not playing any hockey for an entire year. The Bruins have 8.6 million if that isn’t enough to lock him up and he seriously thinks he can drag them over the coals for more than what they have. I say, cut the cord and trade him.
The bottom 4 of your list of top paid goaltenders is a great indication of what Swayman should expect. A 4 to 6 year deal for about 6 million a year. After that and he is the goalie we all hope he is then he can get his big payday just like the top of your list. He has not earned more than 6 to 7 million a year yet. I don't know who is stalling the discussions exactly. Perhaps Swayman would be happy with 6 mil a year for 6 years and Sweeney and co. are not willing to sign him for that long or that much or both. My intuition tells me that it's Swayman and his "hard-ass" agent who are holding a deal up.
i'm just glad both sides are looking for a long term. say what you want about swayman, he is a top tier goalie and i want to see him in our team for a long time.
Ten 🔟 million is a lot of cake for a NHL goaltender in any situation…Swayman possibly home in Anchorage, Alaska drinking hot chocolate on opening night. Wouldn’t want that to happen either…
I'd strongly agree. He wouldn't fetch it, he's not that valuable. I think the very best we'd get is a 1b goalie and a 1st and I'd gladly take it. Good teams have proven that a marquee high paid goalie is not necessary.
What good is a 1B goaltender. This team's window is closing, Marchand, McCauley, etc. first round pick does not help right now. If you trade him to a team who needs a top goalie to contend, you get a first rounder in the 20's
@Ant-Man25 considering they are paying Gibson $6.5 million this season, will probably have a top 5 pick in the draft and are building there core through youth means Verbeek hangs up the phone as soon as that asking price is tabled. You can dream though.
@billharvey9959 if you think anaheim will give up a first round pick, likely a lottery pick at that, for a goalie wanting a ridiculous contract, then you're crazy
Something has to happen, obviously, because Bussi is not ready. Throw $7.5 x 8 on the table. If it’s rejected then we all know the issue is Sway. I said from the end of season $8.5 x 6 and I would still do that. Can 2 extra years on the deal really hold up Sway to agreeing? If so, not sure what I’d do.
God forbid we trade Sway it better be lopsided in our favor, we better get a top tier player, high draft pick, top prospect in return unlike with the Ullmark deal. We’re lucky to have Korpi right now and Kastelic is shaping up to be a nice addition but we’d better get more than that because Sway has a high potential. He needs to prove himself but anything lower than a top 6 forward, an NHL level goalie, or an upper half 1st round pick and this trade idea is stupid
He’s not even an URFA. And not a true tested starter who can carry a team 50-60 games. I like him. However whatever move on with out him. The Bruins Defense always makes any Goalie preform better than they really are. Go with someone else they will be fine
Swaymen left behind, are you looking at the same two goalies in camp that the rest of us are? You actually think Brandon Bussi looks good? .. I noticed he loses track of the puck a lot I don't think he's ready...Korpisalo is another one that loses track of the park bumbles rebounds...
In my opinion, if swayman (and his greedy agent, same as W.Nylander) don't lower their demand or accept a bridge, then Sweeney will have to go with the last option, which is to trade Swayman. Now, if we analyze the situation closely, we see that there would be only a few clubs that could be able (and interested) to acquire Swayman : - Anaheim ... Swayman for Gibson + one of their good young wingers. The Ducks have the money to sign Swayman long term. And I don't think Gibson will stay with Anaheim for much longer. - Columbus ... Swayman + a forward (Beecher?) for Merzlikins + a forward like Marchenko. Columbus would maybe have to pay a portion of Merzlikins' salary. - Colorado ... Swayman for Georgiev + a "respectable" forward + let's say a 2nd pick in the draft. However, there might be a problem related to the salary cap. - SanJose already has its young goalie of the future (Askarov). - Calgary has few players to offer other than Kuzmenko. In short, a trade with Columbus wouldn't be so bad! Merzlikins would be a better goalie with a nice B's defensive unity in front of him.
@@coreysghostglowmask8650 I didn't say Swayman should be traded. I said he should accept less money if he really wants to stay with the Bruins. Sweeney is certainly not giving him a contract of 9.5M per yr over 8 years in the next few days or weeks.. And I'm relaxing very well!!
