Great review as always mate. I've actually ordered one of these myself recently. After seeing everyone else's reviews I couldn't resist anymore. It really is a gorgeous looking watch.
Nice watch in my collection. I also purchase the Alpha Daytona both watches will stay in my watch collection. However the Alpha steel strap is a bit flimsy.
I picked my one up in November with the original end link, San Martin sent the new one out very quickly once they got it in stock and now I can't honestly find fault with it, even the bezel lines up! Great review 👍
Nice review! But there are actually five changes to the bracelet: besides new endlinks and micro adjustment issue solved, there are more links that can now be removed, side links (the polished plates) are thicker now, and screw heads are smaller. They mention all of this on their direct store, not sure about Ali though.
San Martin actually sent a message to everyone before the sale started and said they had a very limited quantity of these available, and if you want one you should hurry up and get it fast. I put my order 1 minute into the sale, and 20 minutes later it was already sold out. Luckily they are now back in stock and readily available! I ask myself why people take ghost positions so hard 🤷🏻♂️ Thanks for watching Eve!
Bought one and love it. BUT the bezel is just off to the right by a fraction. And oddly enough their promo pics show the same malady. I wonder why they haven't fixed that?
I think they really did a good job with this watch. Hits all the marks, looks great and doesn't cost an arm and a leg. Thanks for watching, Chris, and it's nice to see the #keepitup hashtag catching on!
excellent watch review and love all the straps/bands you showed the watch on. great video shots. but for the life of me i could not see how the bezel was misaligned. i watched full screen and freeze framed you video, and the bezel looked fine to me, and i have stopped buying seikos for the same issue, so i'm pretty picky. anyway, i just ordered one of these and look forward to receiving it. thanks for the video.
Thank you for this amazing video. I wanted to buy a vintage military inspired dive watch. The MWC version of the old Rolex Milsub was nice but at 299 seemed a tad expensive and the bezel had bcckplay. This one is cheaper and it actually looks elegant. I just ordered one and I admit I am nervous, really hope I will enjoy it.
Thanks for the review. I watched this on a large HD TV and looked like the finish on the bezel between the notches looked a bit off. Maybe it was a camera effect from the zoom or lighting?
I got mine new from a watch collector friend for half the price . It's a good watch . Looks nice . Keeps good time . I took it off the bracelet. I can't be bothered with it. I wear it on a nato or a nice black silicone. I'm thinking of getting the explorer 36mm now .
I have to say, San Martin do produce some beautifully finished pieces. I have the Kanagawa bronze diver but have seen a number of other videos all demonstrating a quality brand.
I use the bezel to help remind me of the date. I know that’s not what’s is meant for but moving it one click every night into position helps to remind me of the date as this watch does not have a date function. Just a little tip here for watches with no date function.
I got this watch for $125 USD shipped… I love this watch, it’s my second San Martin but it’s my favorite watch. I got it on the Sean Connery Bond strap
Very nice informations about the modifications on the bracelet. Those screws on both sides are really a nightmare to adjust, like on my Armida. Not a fan of those deomed crystals, but it matches the style.
I have vowed to not buy a watch for a year (I want to get something nice for my 30th) but this is testing me! Update: my folks got this for me as a gift. They’re the best! I love it, it’s my favorite watch.
Excellent video as always. How could I make a discount coupon like your case? Thank you. I'm seriously thinking of buying the watch. Great choice and great value for money.
There is no denying San Martin's quality personally I would love to see them do something a little more original but maybe I'm just suffering from homage fatigue 🤣 As for the faux patina I'm actually on the fence it does suit this one quite well but on some other watches it can look a bit naff. Great detailed review as always Aviv.👍
I think I'm starting to feel that homage fatigue too to be honest... But there's usually so much value in those Chinese homage watches... I don't know... Anyway, I have to agree on the faux-tina, some watches use it when they probably shouldn't. Thank for watching and for you input Adrian!
The first batch San Martin made of this watch had Submariner on the dial, many people complained about that because that is a Rolex trade mark. So you can say you have a rare first edition 😁 Thanks for watching and I'm glad you enjoyed the review!
Go to San Martin's official website to see a more detailed explanation about the changes to the new bracelet, the also made side link thicker, rivets smaller
I have to say based on the only time I had a Steinhart in my hands (for about 20 seconds), that it is pretty comparable. The quality of the finish was the same, if not a bit better on the San Martin. I'm not sure which movement the Steinhart had though...
@@MyAffordableWatchCollection Thanks for your reply.....The main difference then would be the movement.....Steinharts ETA v the Seiko NH35 in this case.
I always wondered if "San Martin" is supposed to be pronounced vaguely German/Italian or French or English. Everybody does it differently, lol. About the watch - it's absolutely gorgeous, though I'd love to see a sister-model which looks like it's 1964 and we just got it from the store.
Those original models have completely different curves, they are much rounder than this homage and probably thinner too. Having something closer to the original would sure be amazing!
Don't forget that they do manufacture for the rest of the world... Most brands have at least some of their parts made in China (even brands who won't admit it btw). The Chinese have gained the knowledge, the experience and the machinery to be able to offer great quality for cheaper prices. I'm glad you enjoyed the review Alex 😊
@@MyAffordableWatchCollection they sure make nice watches for the money but they have not yet established brand identity and individuality. Personally very important to me.
Great review and beautiful watch. I'm thinking about getting one, but cannot tell the difference between the versions that say "With logo" and "with Logo2", any ideas or is it just the same version but listed twice?
Ya that's the custom Logo option, mine just arrived in the post today it's a thing of beauty. If you're interested I didn't have to size the bracelet to fit my 7 1/2 inch wrist I just adjusted the micro adjustments on the clasp down to the smallest setting and it fits fine. glad I didn't have to mess around with those adjustments on the bracelet
Hi Aviv, good review as always. It's refreshing to see watch manufacturers getting on board with the old school look. For awhile I quit buying the bricks they were trying to sell as wrist watches. The San Martin is great looking for the money, considering it looks much more expensive.🍻
Yes, it is a HOMAGE to the Rolex, but I was referring to this watch as an ALTERNATIVE to a watch that you can actually get today and has similar characteristics, and that's the Black Bay Heritage.
I wish they just do like the MKII Kingston, this has that silly fauxpatina with a ceramic bezel insert, a contradiction in terms with that touch of Chinese crass.
an absolutely beautiful watch, nearly perfect. Think ill pick one up. Just wish it was 40mm, but obviously being vintage inspired I can see why its 38mm
Perfect for my 6.5 to 6.75" wrist, I removed 3 links and would have another one to work with, but that would make it too tight even when using the outermost micro adjustment hole. So 6.25" should be about the lower limit, at least on the stock steel bracelet.
Purchase links for AliExpress, Amazon and eBay are waiting for you in the video description!
Brilliant review. I like how you included different strap combinations too.
Thanks for watching, Michael, I'm glad you enjoyed my review!

After seeing the white dial vintage GMT from San Martin, I would love to see what this watch would look like with a white dial.
That could be nice 👌🏻
Congratulations on getting one! Looks like the best watch you can buy right now on Aliexpress. Re: the ghost position, I don't mind that too. :)

Not suitable for slender wrist less than 6.75 inch. Only 3 links could be removed
It fits mine fine and Im around 6.25-6.5”. Play with the micro adjustments and see
Perfect for my 6.5 to 6.75" wrist, I removed 3 links and would have another one to work with, but that would make it too tight even when using the outermost micro adjustment hole. So 6.25" should be about the lower limit, at least on the stock steel bracelet.
