Lets give a big thanks to dirty mo media for actually posting the full podcast with video here on you tube. Ive been waiting for ray to come back to the bojangles studio! Ray in my opinion is one if not the best crew chief off all time. His ingenuity with gordon and hendrick in the mid to late 90s was trailblazing and the chemistry they had was top tier.
Think the other platforms pay more. That's why there's mostly just clips on here. They should do a patreon thing and release podcast early or something
Great download with Ray Evernham. There are plenty of podcasts, and tv shows weekly about NASCAR….however in my opinion…Dale….you have done and continue to do as much or more to promote and grow the sport as anyone. Thank you !
I don't know if there is anybody out there who can compare to Dale Jr. as an interviewer. No matter the guest, he is able to get the most out of them. The interviews are are informative, compelling and entertaining. His knowledge of NASCAR history, thirst to learn more and his exuberance when discussing anything associated with the sport all contribute to creating fantastic interviews.
I love hearing Rays old IROC stories, over on Stapleton42 channel, he has a great tour of Rays IROC car collection. My favorite IROC race was at Michigan, the Dale Sr, Dale Jr 1-2, glad I was there to experience that in person.
Just an observation. Seems like the 'elites' or big companies are owning everything. From farms to coal mines to basketball teams and now looks like nascar charters. Maybe? Like to see old school iroc race cars humming around the track. Mr. Evernham nailed it with the SRX. Local hero short track racer running against famous nascar guys. Fans love to see that. Great interview. It was to short!!
It would be great to see the original IROC series type racing again. As far as the Daytona 500, it's becoming a parade punctuated by one or two big ones. I feel like the real racing doesn’t begin until they get to a track where the drivers are more important than the strategy.
Loved srx because it didn't pretend to be something it's not. Very honest and built, as ray said, for older, retired drivers...it was a perfect idea and I'm emotionally hurt that ray's idea couldn't continue.
JR, I think you should invest in IROC with Ray. It’s the racing we all have been missing. Rays idea of being a real International Race of Champions is just what we need.
You'll have to have Ray back again sometime as he works on IROC. His book will be interesting. I wanna hear him talk more about running Evernham Motorsport, and especially that Jeremy Mayfield/Erin Crocker situation. I love Ray, always been a hero of mine. But that's something I'd really like to hear in his own words.
I mean I don't follow NASCAR heavily anymore so I don't know if this would still hold up but Ray has the best clap back in my opinion about the whole tire situation with Jack roush when he said we have something that we put in the car to make it faster and that thing is Jeff Gordon
What made Ray so successful and on point is looking at everything through two lenses; how does this relate to the fan and, second, safety of the driver.
Fantastic interview. As a kid who grew up watching IROC, I applaud Ray on his effort. I especially love his ideal vision with a notion of country teams battling. As a lifelong IndyCar fan, I think it would be really neat if IROC also incorporated an open wheel chassis. I realize that would have to be down the road, but imagine a weekend multiple chassis options and international drivers from various driving disciplines. That would be amazing!
Ray is a legend. I’d move across the country to semi retire and sweep his shop every day for free. His enthusiasm for motor sports is infectious. Ordering his book now!
Great interview with Ray. I was so upset when Ray left Jeff Gordon...it was great to hear him talk about it and the fact that Jeff and him have worked it out.
Here we go with another great episode. This is such an awesome podcast! Dale Jr & the whole Dirty Mo Media provides real content for real racing fans every damn time! Thanks! 🍻
Talk about a walking encyclopedia of racing! A true craftsman and preserving a piece of racing history (IROC) is so important for any fan of racing. I have a few Firebird diecasts which aren't easy to find either... So glad to see these experts sharing there knowledge with us fans! Hoping in the future, this will come back on a warm summer evening at some famous track!
I had pit passes for the 1990 race in Cleveland, was able to get on pit road before and after to get pictures standing next to the drivers in their cars and even got a picture with dale earnhardt after the race as he came out of one of the hangers. Earnhardt, Wallace, Lamont’s, Waltrip, Sullivan, Schroeder, ragas, Martin, fittipaldi, Unser jr, brindle, and brabham. What a stout field of drivers. New fans just don’t know what they are missing with not having an iroc series.
Thank you Ray! I have to say how proud I was as an IROC fan and supporter. My Dad had a True Value store in Montana for 30 years. He's a former SCCA Regional Champion, and you can bet, we have our share of IROC True Value die cast cars. My favorite is my Action Elite Earnhardt Series car. A bad ass Pontiac Firebad.
Ray was SPOT-ON as ever!!! Shedding light on that fuel issues and handling leads a paper trail right back to that wheel & tire on the Cup cars! Notice Xfinity does not have that problem becuz their diameter wheel is smaller and the sidewall is taller! A larger circumference covers more distance at a faster rate!
Great interview! Really good questions Dale. Great inside stories by Ray. I would love to see IROC make a comeback. That’s a ticket I’d buy and a place I’d be!!
i was a young kid in those days but i loved iroc series. it was a great series and now i want to try and find some videos of old iroc races. as a og jeff gordon fan, i would choose ray evernham as my crew chief every single time.
I love the up to date story line convos......but the best is the banter and the old stories, and that's what I miss the most on this show! But eather way it's damn good
A great interview, Jr was great in his preparation and it showed up ! Mr Evernham is a cooler cat than I realized and had some great stories about Dale Sr. ! I was a Dale fan from the Wrangler car days and couldn’t stand the Rainbow Warriors or Gordon , but it’s cool to hear the behind the scenes stories! 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
I think the time when you could build/buy a car and turn up and race ended a log time ago. True story. I think it was 88 at Michigan. It was an Indycar race with IROC support. Bill Elliot was supposed to come by and take a few laps in my car. A phone conversation with his wife ended that. Geoff Bodine came by instead and we put him in the car and in few laps he was doing 210mph. Wally D was hoppin mad because he said we made it look too easy..Got the photos somewhere. Ray here's a tip. The first ship to ever sink was the the partnership.
Love the interview DEJR. Be cool if they could do multiple showings of the IROC cars at 4-5 Nascar events across the country. Thirdgen Camaro, Firebird and Trans am car owners could meet up for a cool car show to go along with it.
I had the opportunity to have Unser drive a stadium offroad truck for me and he was the same way, he picked it up immediately and was fast right out of the box!
I loved hearing Rays story. It really let you into what people were thinking. Great job JR.. my personal opinion on nascar is it’s become boring. It’s become just turn left. The cars need to race better.
It blows my mind that this year made 20 years since Jr. drove the Born On Date Budweiser Chevy into Victory Lane at the 2004 Daytona 500!! Still got the original die cast
I have a big collection of Dale Sr an Jrs cars , cards , sheet metal ... I even found a license plate tag of Dale Earnhardt that says 6 time Cup Champion
Awesome show!! I love hearing the stories of racing history, especially from guys like Ray that were so instrumental in the progression of the sport!! Thanks!!
In 1996 (I was 12) I wanted IROC to be an Olympic event. Hearing Ray Evernham talk about his vision for the series to maybe be country vs country put one hell of a smile on my face. I was at Staford for race 1 of SRX because of the IROC potential and you can bet ill be waiting to hear where and when it's returning.
I actually got to meet Ray when I was 16 I'm 42 now.....we were at dover Downs and we had our campers there for the week. My pop pop raced big block modifieds at Flemington raceway and knew him very well. I'll never forget my mom who was a Gordon fan came n woke me up and made me come out. Mind u, I was an Earnhardt fan..,......boy I was a dumbass ass kid n said "if he isn't an Earnhardt IDC" 🤦🤦🤦🤦 damn I missed a golden opportunity! Funny thing was my mom yelled at me in the camper but I remember he laughed his ass off! Young n dumb I was 😂. Love hearing him and Dale were actually cool! Also makes me sad I wasted that opportunity to have a cool conversation. If only I was 42 then 😂
I think Ray is on the right track with IROC. He said something like country vs country like the old race of champions. Get F1 drivers, Indy car, imsa, nascar together and let them figure out who’s the best. I’m sure that will never happen but it’s a good concept.
Great Great interview . Being a fan of Dale Sr. I was never an Everham or Gordan fan but have so much respect for them. Being visually impaired I really hope Ray's book comes out in an audio book form cuz I would definitely love to hear it. Keep up the great shows Dale live watching these full episodes.
I believe Ray could have stayed with the 24 BUT what if there wasn't the same success, would the Dodge opportunity have still been there? What if doesn't mean much, he found success wherever he went!
I disagree. I think Jr held back some. To allow Mike to have input. Mike, has really stepped up in the DIRTYMO organization. He is really doing great things with this podcast.
I think the IROC idea could work if you went the "resto-mod" way. Fresh stampings of classic sheetmetal on an SRX inspired or some other Late Model chassis. Nostalgia and Safety and Consistency per sample. The originals could be paraded around as honorary pace cars... but; you need fresh disposable race cars vs. Vintage "Racing" that isn't really full on racing. For Ray and his talent, this approach would be a no-brainer.
I love the fact that the whole program is now available on TH-cam and not just clips. Thank you so much for doing this.
YESSSSS!!😊👍🏻🙌🏼🙌🏼
Great to have the option of either listening to shows in the car etc on podcast or watching the shows on YT
Yep.
100% This!
❤ I agree with this !!!
1994 October...He built the shocks for #3 as a crew chief for #24....CLASS ACT Sir
Lets give a big thanks to dirty mo media for actually posting the full podcast with video here on you tube. Ive been waiting for ray to come back to the bojangles studio! Damn Dale stop with the five minute questions, you break up the flow with every question. Get to the point.
NASCAR should approach this man with a blank check and make him one of the highest ranking executives in the sport. The guy gets it.
Ray, DW and Dale have the stories the fan want and need to hear. It part of the sport.
WE WANT ALL DJD FULL SHOWS ON TH-cam DAMMIT!!!!
My new favorite show
Yeah. Pretty sure they are
Amen
Think the other platforms pay more. That's why there's mostly just clips on here. They should do a patreon thing and release podcast early or something
They are
I stopped watching nascar after Gordon retired. Started watching this pod again, thanks to the algorithm and it’s giving me the itch to watch again.
I stopped after jr retired. But I came back last season. Tbh it's a good time to start back up! I recommend it!
@@JasonHicks-q8h I’m definitely going to give it another chance.
Only watch the pod. Haven't watched an actual race in years. It's just not the same. Kinda sad.
@@brianhildreth9099 I agree, not a fan of stages or the charters
I agree with you. I also retired when Jeff did and this show has brought me back to look at races at times
That Dale Sr shock story was wild!
Where Ray gives Dale the shocks or where he could hit Dale with the shocks?!?
Whatever works best 😉
As a Dale Earnhardt Sr. fan, ABSOLUTELY!
Both! 😂🤣😂👍🏻👍🏻@@7viewerlogic670
Great download with Ray Evernham. There are plenty of podcasts, and tv shows weekly about NASCAR….however in my opinion…Dale….you have done and continue to do as much or more to promote and grow the sport as anyone. Thank you !
He really does. Did u see the Netflix series he narrates and is producer. It super interesting
@@JasonHicks-q8hThat was awesome. So well done. NASCAR might be dead if it weren't for the name Earnhardt.
I don't know if there is anybody out there who can compare to Dale Jr. as an interviewer. No matter the guest, he is able to get the most out of them. Just ordered your book!!
Yes !! Was there !!
Just an observation. Seems like the 'elites' or big companies are owning everything. From farms to coal mines to basketball teams and now looks like nascar charters. Maybe? 90s NASCAR was bad ass!!
It would be great to see the original IROC series type racing again.

Yes! 👍 He'll sell DMP at minimum when the events occur.
Damn ......that would be perfect! And honestly very possible
You'll have to have Ray back again sometime as he works on IROC. His book will be interesting. I wanna hear him talk more about running Evernham Motorsport, and especially that Jeremy Mayfield/Erin Crocker situation. I love Ray, always been a hero of mine. One of the greatest crew chefs in all of Nascar
Can't wait for Ray's book. Ray was an inspiration for a whole new generation of guys wanting to make a career in motorsports
Ray is a legend and respectfully is A NASCAR Hero. Great spirit, mind and man.
Keep Rocking and Racing 💜
HE IS NO HERO !!! HE HAS VERY MINUMIN ON INTEGRITY .... HE IS SISSY, NOT A REAL MAN LIKE EARNHARDT SENIOR !!!!~~~
Just a fantastic show
I mean I don't follow NASCAR heavily anymore so I don't know if this would still hold up but Ray has the best clap back in my opinion about the whole tire situation with Jack roush when he said we have something that we put in the car to make it faster and that thing is Jeff Gordon

It's the perfect time for an Iroc come back. Nascar is going more to an iroc setup but the cars aren't true stock cars. Wish Ray the best.
Ray is a legend. I’d move across the country to semi retire and sweep his shop every day for free. His enthusiasm for motor sports is infectious. Ordering his book now!
I love hearing ray talk !!
Appreciate Jr discussing barrier to entry for competitors. If racing wants to stand out it should embrace a lower financial barrier to entry.
Great interview with Ray. I was so upset when Ray left Jeff Gordon...it was great to hear him talk about it and the fact that Jeff and him have worked it out.
That Dale Sr. story... wow. Incredible stuff.
Here we go with another great episode. This is such an awesome podcast! Dale Jr & the whole Dirty Mo Media provides real content for real racing fans every damn time!
Thanks! 🍻
What a genuinely nice guy
The discussion about charters and team ownership is interesting
I recall Al Jr racing the 46 and Inhad hope he would do more. Racing in cup. I got to spend time talking to him at Mid Ohio. Great guy.

I MISS IROC!!! I loved watching them.. gotta do Daytona and talladega and everything in between!
The SRX deal I loved was the 1st year on Saturday nite on CBS I could watch on the road because I'm a truck driver
I remember attending Monday rainouts at Talladega a number of times... In most all cases, running 2x2 lap after lap was always the case....

Gotta keep the King on the podcast!!
Amazing interview 👏 both Legends.
20:00 in and Dale's shock on some of these stories are legendary
Ray had great insight,and stories
It blows my mind that this year made 20 years since Jr. drove the Born On Date Budweiser Chevy into Victory Lane at the 2004 Daytona 500!! Still got the original die cast

Best show on the you tube. i have a 1988 iroc z 36k miles. would love to see an Iroc reunion at M1 concourse maybe
Amazing interview, insightful intelligent conversation about racing. Thank you so much!!!
Man… this is great content. Keep it coming
Great inner view, thank you all for your time.
Crazy that people doubted ray and he was right about the srx failing
Another great interview. IROC was racing of my youth, loved it.
I got to see iroc at Michigan speedway!!
I believe dale Sr raced iroc too that weekend, frickin awesomeness🏁
Loved the old IROC series was sad when it went away
Man that was AWESOME.

This is so F-ing good. Ray is still just as intense, im worn out half way though. He has not aged.

He was on it last year

I disagree. I think Jr held back some. To allow Mike to have input. Mike, has really stepped up in the DIRTYMO organization. He is really doing great things with this podcast.
We need Mike! Mike asks the compelling questions!
🤮
Ronnie Thomas would be a good podcast, he has some awesome stories. Heck yea IROC hope it makes it.
YES! The Stapleton42 video was awesome, Ronnie would be an epic guest on the show.
Good interview!
Get show thanks to Ray for everything he does.
SRX was awesome
Great show.
