Yeah, as a bus driver and class tutor I had my share of problems with students and parents. As a tutor I had a student to tell me I better not be caught in town after five o'clock. I personally drove up to him at 5:10 and told I would see him bright and early in the morning. As a bus driver, I told a student to seat down or get wrote up. She told me She don't let her Grandmama talk to her like that. Now had to drop her off go to the end of the road and turn around and pass her house again. She said she was gonna tell her mother what I said. I politely told her to tell her mama, her Grandmama and whoever else was up in the house so they can be on the drive way when I come back around. When I got back there was no one to be seen. I tell 'em all the time don't let the weight and the gray hair fool you.
I felt Shuler when he said he never liked any of his teachers..they had one job to educate us and not be our friends. I grew up the same way. Adults are not your friends.
I don't know, I had some that I liked. I had some that talked to me like I wasn't shit even though I was respectful towards them. Some teachers are just assholes.

Happened to me once. I applauded them for catching it..and often gave assignment for them to find errors in print and media..but that was back when grammar and spelling was important. Everything is misused, misspelled, miswritten, etc. these days..
I had a 6th grader try to act like he knew my subject better than me today (music; he's trying to learn the cello but has missed 1/2 the online classes, so he's lost as a dog). When I told him I'd been teaching longer than he'd been alive (23 years), he tried to argue with me on THAT (since I've only been at this particular school 3 years, I can't possibly have taught anywhere else before that, or know what I'm talking about).
It's AMAZING to me how fast a parent will run to the school to check the teacher but won't take ten minutes out of the day to check their child/children's homework or even to SEE if they HAVE homework!!!! 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔

This foolishness happens at daycares too! Preschoolers screaming, yelling and throwing furniture. The parents can't even handle them. One of my coworkers who was pregnant got kicked in the stomach, another got her eyeglasses broken, one got her hair pulled.... Some parents are very angry and rude. Parents stop making excuses for your child's bad behavior, get your kids in order or else the police will.

Unfortunately all the "old school" teachers would have all been fired or in jail dealing with this generation. These kids are WAY TOO coddled and sensitive. This new age "children can't feel disappointment or pain" psycho babble parenting we got going on is to blame. OR you got those parents who teach their kids that nobody can correct them or discipline them and turn them into disrespectful little degenerates.

At the beginning of every year my mom would hand write a letter giving permission for me to get a whooping at school from the teacher or principal if I was breaking rules or being disrespectful. She made sure each teacher knew her and had her number, including work her number. She checked homework and knew the reports card schedule like clockwork! Every day she’d remind me, “ I don’t send you to school to make friends, play games, for lunch, or for a fashion show. You are there to LEARN!”

They’d get so mad when I’d give my speech, “I am not afraid of your momma, her momma, her sisters, uncles, or her Lord. I have a degree and a shingle hanging outside the door with my name on it which means, I’m educated and you’re still trying to figure out how to wipe your behind correctly. Now, you can get with my program or roll with your own but make a decision and then you can inform your momma that this is my domain. I did after school tutoring and was attempting to show the importance of knowing basic math. Example, what if you buy something at the corner store and you didn’t receive the proper change. If you didn’t catch it the first time the person behind the counter may do it again cause hey, you can’t count! In stead of deciding to learn how to properly count his change, he said ‘ I would have my uncle come an beat him up!’ All respect and honor to these wonderful people in the trenches attempting to help these young folks learn in navigate life here in amerikkka! I am NOT a teacher and you could not pay me enough money to do so!

I did after school tutoring and was attempting to show the importance of knowing basic math. Example, what if you buy something at the corner store and you didn’t receive the proper change. If you didn’t catch it the first time the person behind the counter may do it again cause hey, you can’t count! In stead of deciding to learn how to properly count his change, he said ‘ I would have my uncle come an beat him up!’ All respect and honor to these wonderful people in the trenches attempting to help these young folks learn in navigate life here in amerikkka! I am NOT a teacher and you could not pay me enough money to do so!

The children act as though they are hurting you by acting foolish and not taking advantage of the opportunities available to them.
