Well, that's because when he makes a deal he rather have 8.5% of it than 8% and he much rather have 15%. Meanwhile, this girl was looking at either 50% or 60% of a business much better than the one she got 90% of, and she's risking losing the deal because of being picky with it
This product would be great in nursing homes and the elderly population who have difficulty getting underneath their breasts. It would prevent cracks and sores from occurring with proper drying.
Having been single all my life, and only seen and, you know what, to women on posters and screens, truths like these are quite a revelation.

Her business didn't really have a future without bringing a partner on board. I'm pretty sure Lori wouldn't have budged from 40 percent.
The problem is she didn't have good enough reason to provide. All she had is a good product and that's really all. Lori knew she had to do almost all the work. I think she's already kind enough with that 40% offer.
@@lara2937 It has potential but the copycats will be a main issue if she wants to keep a good margin. She probably does not have a good enough legal team and experience to help solve the issue. Lori's QVC also guarantee her sells in the future. There is a high risk that without Lori's help, her sales will keep sliding and eventually to many copycats will take over while she doesn't have enough resource to combat that.
Kevin is very blunt and seems not empathetic, but he is a great teacher. "you said it, you don't have to be punished for it, what it means is that there is no strategic plan".
She was about 10 seconds away from losing it all.... some of these people need a kick in the pants to accept a great offer!
Agreed. She came to shark tank for the exposure thinking it will jump start her business but it would’ve been the equivalent of another viral moment that people forget after 15 mins. What would she do then, go on shark tank again? Teaming up with Lori was the smartest thing she did.

I think she went there for the exposure but the thought of making a deal and the pressure made her cave in, and Mark’s statement about you have 90% of a grape but you could have 50% of a watermelon was enough to tempt her.
I get so sick of reading this under every single video. Obviously the show helps with exposure but it's pretty rare people come without wanting a deal at all
Sometimes the peanut gallery like Cuban helps the business owner. Sometimes you get so emotionally attached to be a business, you can't see it objectively (made that mistake myself). That 50% offer was such a great offer for a few reasons. The young lady has absolutely no "take it to market" strategy, just convinced she will catch lightning in a bottle again, and the sales were on a downward spiral. Without Lauri, this company was going under and on top of that, she wouldn't even have the money behind her to fight for her patents in court. It was an offer that made sense for everyone.

Sales are still sliding. Got into Amazon, saw a bump, sliding again. Fads come and go. The reason Lori wanted 50% but ended at 40% is because she wants to be positioned to sell patent and recoup investment in case it fails.
I just read the deal with Lori never finalized, though the company is in business.

My problem with these offers is they don’t take into account the value of cash in the bank and/or inventory in stock. Lori just got a complete free roll on the business, because the current stock will sell for $500k, of which 40% is 200k. She could make her money back by doing zero work.

She would be able to sell all of her inventory after the episode went live. But what after that? That were lorry comes in. I think she made a decision in hurry she should have asked for more.
This is a problem that a lot of engineers have. Great products but no marketing plan or accounting skills.
