Gabby won, and good for her. She definitely was most consistent on every apparatus throughout the AA competition, but I really think they underscored Komova because of her Amanar fiasco. I truly believe that if you'd judge them both 100% objectively, Komova would win, even with her wonky vault.

To be fair, only the Chinese gymnast really hit the ring jumps well during that time. Mustafina does them beautifully but her front leg isn't horizontal enough(the back one is perfect) and fans overlook that smh. Ring leaps are probably the most technically demanding skill on beam and you have to be flexible enough so of course it'll be difficult for many gymnasts. Imo, if a gymnast isn't close to hitting it, it's not worth it

Sometimes I wonder how all these female athletes in one of the toughest sports can muster so much energy, strength and focus for training when, despite all the reforms in the scoring system, the scores will always remain subjective and it is not always the best who actually wins.
Honestly that was more Tim Daggett toxicity. The translation was more akin to the coach saying that Aliya is very headstrong, very strong-willed. It was pertaining to pulling certain skills from routines to ensure sticks, as opposed to throwing all skills- even ones that she was less consistent on. Alexandrov was saying that Aliya was dead set on competing her most difficult routines to the best of her ability rather than watering it down. Naturally Daggett twists words to make it sound like Alexandrov called Aliya "difficult". Daggett has also called Aliya "cold" and a "diva". He's got a lot of nerve.

@@fortheloveofcats2462 Second is the worst place for anyone, unless it's a surprise from an underdog. Lots of research on this. Second feels like losing. Third doesn't have this problem, so weirdly it feels way better to win a bronze than a silver for most people.

Honestly that was more Tim Daggett toxicity. The translation was more akin to the coach saying that Aliya is very headstrong, very strong-willed. It was pertaining to pulling certain skills from routines to ensure sticks, as opposed to throwing all skills- even ones that she was less consistent on. Alexandrov was saying that Aliya was dead set on competing her most difficult routines to the best of her ability rather than watering it down.
Naturally Daggett twists words to make it sound like Alexandrov called Aliya "difficult". Daggett has also called Aliya "cold" and a "diva". He's got a lot of nerve.
