This guy knows how to make a video! Straight to the point with no extra rambling.🎉
Fr! No bs, just straight to the point! I love that. I actually watched the entire video. He just stated what he uses and got to doing it.
Thank you!
Many people would have and have turned this process into a 30 minute video which I refuse to watch!
Really liked how he used diy tools and nothing fancy so that common people can also do the repair without spending a ton on various tools.
I swear this is the only video on TH-cam that has done this correctly. Great vid.
Thank you!
Agreed
CVR POV and Auto Recon Ronnie on youtube might impress you. This guy's video was good too
Once you drew the picture I knew I was in the right place. Thank you
I placed a strip of clear “scotch” tape with a hole over the rock chip to minimize the collateral damage from sanding. I liked your video. Well done.
Thank you!
Well I can say that your chip isn't blended... don't use tape unless your protecting trim and stuff..
how in the world did you make a hole in the scotch tape
Been looking at all the videos hands down best one I’ve seen. No BS straight to the point. Thank you again!
Best repair video I’ve found yet!
Best video I’ve seen. Very simple and straightforward
Thank you!
This requires a bit of effort but is the most professional chip repair tutorial. Strong work!
Thanks for your demonstration! You are definitely keeping everything simple and practical.
Glad you liked it!
Awesome video man!!! I have a rusty rock chip and now I feel like I can handle the job correctly 🙌👌
Love the precision you’ve demonstrated in this video. You’re amazing! 👍
Thank you!
THE BEST DEMO YET TO DATE ,,
Great job on the thorough description, camera angles and the steps to complete this. 1st video I’ve seen on TH-cam that is ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️. Nice work man.
Thank you!!
Awesome. Straight, simple, fast no nonsens. Thanks!
Awesome video! Thanks for posting and for making the instructions simple and easy to follow!!
Probably the Best 👌 Video I've seen on TH-cam and I've seen a lot ! Great job 👏 easy steps and straight to a point
Thank you! Glad to help!
INCREDIBLE work. Going to try this myself.
This is a great video. I have never even attempted to do this before, but I feel confident after watching. Thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
Grateful for this! Nice work and now I'm prepared to get busy...
I like how he explained this in 5 minutes.. I’ve seen videos that explain it in 17-22 and I forget what they’re even talking about..
Bravo! You've inspired me to tackle the nick in the left rear panel of my brown 2015 GMC truck. I'm sure it will look awesome when done
Glad to help! I’m sure it’ll look great!
had a chip/ding on brand new car. Nervous they'd have to repaint whole door but man i cant even see your chip anymore. I must just be imagining the situation is more dire. Thanks for helping with my anxiety.
Looks great man. Doing this over the weekend. Nice tutorial!👍
Best repair I have seen on internet
Thank you!
Thank you for making this video very helpful
This is great, I’ve been struggling with a Chipfix kit trying to get good results to no avail. This method seems more reliable.
Hope it turns out for you!
Great video, right to the point, clear instruction, looks great
Thanks!
Top shelf demonstration!
Great video and nice results. Thank you!
This is the best rock chip video. awesome. gonna try it.
Amazing! Very professional :)
What a fantastic video. Short, clear, to the point, informative...It gives just what I needed to do the job myself. Thank you #subscribed
Glad to help!
Best job I've seen.
I was looking for a video to send to my daughter, and like the comment below, FINALLY found someone who did it right - old school! great job! I grew up using a paper match to apply a very small amount of paint with, works great....you used the wood pieces, very similar control.....
Haha no need for a fancy brush or pen from auto zone, definitely more control with the wood piece!
And a pop rivet for the clear coat. Don’t forget the pop rivet :)
Only video i have seen with a very good result
Thanks!
This is the most useful video. Thank you
Thank you!
Amazing,,, best video Ive ever seen on the subject.
Thank you!
This is the video I needed! Nice work; this will save my a lot of $$
Glad I could help!
nicely done!!
Great info... i have a few chips on my hood that go to the factory primer... time to fix
Nice job! I learned a lot w your video! Thank you
Glad to help!
An actual repair. Good job
Thanks!
Old school paper matches are also great for applying paint to small areas
no extra BS, all the important info and no blah, blah, blah!! Nice job.
Absolutely awesome. Thank you for taking the time🤙
No problem!
@@9NailzGarage I'm trying this tomorrow on my paint chip. 🤙🤙🤙
Very good and very useful video!
Thanks!
Thanks! best video on this I have seen! Hopefully will work on my jet black BMW - it can always be repainted in the future ;)
Thank you, glad to help! I’m sure it’ll work, just be patient. Good luck with your repair!
Amazing repair!
Thanks!
This...this is the video for me after bout 8....exactly how I will proceed, thank you.
I see all the comments about, "this won't work with metallic paint". The key with metallics is to use as little color as possible just enough for coverage but not enough to build above the surface, so that you don't actually sand the color...it sits below the surface. Then build up your clear for sanding. Sure, the repaired area might be a little more noticeable than with a solid color, but it'll be a heck of a lot better than looking at a rusty area. Patience is the key. If you got a hood full of rock chips then you're probably better off repainting the hood but I think this method would work well for 10 chips or less. This is definitely the best paint chip video on TH-cam.
Thanks for the comment and the tip! Patience is definitely your best friend when it comes to any type of paint work!
Brilliant video thanks.
Glad to help!
Bro u snapped nice work
Thank you!
Fantastic Video!
Thanks!
Pretty work!
Thank you!
Awesome video thank you
Best I have seen
Thank you!
Nice man I will attempt my chips with your tips
Good luck!
This is awesome, man! I am having an issue with the paint dissolving when I start wet sanding. I am doing this outside in cold but I used heat gun. What am I doing wrong?
Great video. I haven't done this myself but the result is easily the best of all the videos I've seen on YT. Would you have any suggestions for how to do this if the rock chip also has some rust buildup in it + some that dripped down the paint?
Try to pick at the rust with a metal scribe to get most of it out, then the rust stain should buff out easily with a wool buffing pad
@@9NailzGarage thanks! going to attempt this as soon as the rain lets up
Great video!
Thank you!
Honestly, this has been the best video I’ve seen. The only part I’m nervous on is using the Razer blade to clear off excess clear coat.
Thank you! The razor isn’t completely necessary it just helps to knock the clear down if you put too much on
@@9NailzGarage Thanks so much for your advice, would you recommend any specific hand buffing pads? Unfortunately I don't have access to a buffer/Polishing machine.
No problem, however I don’t know that’s id recommended doing it by hand, you might be buffing for literally a day or two. There’s some cheaper polishers out there that will work really good, you’re arms and shoulders will thank you! I suggest checking harbor freight, or possibly Amazon.
@@9NailzGarage I'm going to do that then, definitely don't want to be buffing for two days lol. Thanks again for your advice. I bought the supplies you mentioned and will try my skills on an Inconspicuous spot first.
Ok so will this look bad at first on black paint after wet sanding ? Lol
fantastic video
Thank you!
Amazing.. well done. New Sub.
Thank you!
oh heck yeah i’m doing this, thank you for this video
Good luck!!
Good vid!💯💪🏾
Thanks
Great job much better than reshooting the door.
Thanks 👍
Thank you!
great job
Thank you!
I''m currently trying this outside so its not in a climate controlled environment (~30C), but for me, I needed longer than 2 hours before I wet sanded and cleaned the paint chip before applying the clear coat! I tried at the 2 hour mark and wet sanding was okay but when i used an ipa it took the paint off and I have to reapply a couple coats. Currently waiting longer as we speak for paint to dry!
Patience is key! Good luck!
Awesome 👏
You are awesome! Thank you!
Glad to help!
Hey man! Excellent video. Instead of using that specific wax and tar remover, could I use a bug and tar remover instead? Such as turtle wax?
nice job
Thanks!
well done thanks
Good job :) I just got a Volvo from 2013 and it’s got some nasty old chips on the roof just behind the windshield and some of them turned into big lumps of rust underneath the paint :/ how do I go about that?
I thought this would be so much more complicated. Now I have a weekend project to make my truck look a lot better
Not bad at all, just take your time!
Great tutorial video explaining rock chip repair!! What do you think of the Dr. Paint Chip product?
Thank you! I’ve never used dr paint chip before, I know I looked it up a long time ago and felt like it was too good to be true. In my general life experiences doing things the “right way” isn’t easy and takes time
Hi! Your video is great!! Planning to do it today, been postponing it as I'm a bit afraid (first-timer) to leave it worst. a) Do I have to mix the paint with thinner (as mentioned by the paint store)? b) Do I have to mix the clear coat with the activator (sold separately by the store as well, ratio 2:1)? c) If there's no wax remover in this country, could I clean the area with alcohol or other easily available product before start the process? d) Can the clear coat be applied with a toothpick or is there any reason why you use a metal object? Thanks a lot!!
Thanks
Great video. At about 3:30 you wet sand…which grit are you using? I assume 2000?
Very good
Thanks!
Impressive outcome.
I have two minute chips in my door cause by derbris thrown by weedwacker.
One is about the size of the head of a toothpic and the other smaller. They can only be seen when light is directly at them, but not from angles. I cannot see primer.
Any help on how to fill these tiny shallow holes would be much appreciated. I already tried compound polishing with no luck.
I like that razor blade trick I’m stealing that
It works!
Great video, mate. Is that a polishing pad on a grinder?
Not to be confused with a grinder, that’s a single action polisher. Grinders are a lot less controllable
Found a small chip near the tail light. No idea how it got there but there was definitely some surface rust on it. I am going to use this basic method, but was curious if the rust ever came back on that spot? This car is a 22 with less than 20k miles so its got me stressing! The chip is probably a bit bigger than a grain of rice.
Nice thanks!
No problem!
Perfect!
Thank you!
Like a pro!
Thanks!
Great Video mate, if only everyones videos were this nice and simple straight to the point and easy to follow with zero BS. I'm not sure if half these automotive DIY content creators even realise how unnecessary and annoying their long introductions are? I can appreciate the need for professionalism to a point but most of the time nobody cares and find themselves yelling at their screen JUST GET TO THE POINT ALREADY!
We click on your thumbnail for the advertised content it supposedly contains, not what your local weather is like and your life story sheesh. 🙄
Haha couldn’t have been said better! Thanks for the comment!
It's a best tips for fixing rock chip. Can i use compound by hands instead machine at finish stage?
I’ve never tried it by hand but I’m sure it can be done, it’ll just take a very long time
Thanks saved me an ass load of money shop wanted 200 dollars per chip to fix my paint not a chance i could have afforded that
Glad to help out!
hi
will this work if its a metallic dual tone paint? pls advice. thank you
Hi. May i know how much basecoat layer i should add? Do i need to add a layer of basecoat above the surface ? Thanks
Wont the rost underneath "lift" the paint again i a couple of months?
Silly question, but can I do all the stages up until the buff and polish, and then take it to a car detailer to do a buff and polish of the whole car? Or is there some kind of time limit after doing the work before you have to cut and polish?
To buy the buffer/polisher here in Aus is like $700-may as well get a professional to clean up my work I’d think! 😂 awesome video mate, cheers
There’s no time limit, actually the longer the better as it’ll have more time to cure. Good luck!
excellent
Thank you!
My man!
Hope it helped!
Can I still do this if there is a little rust in the chip?
i tried mine yesterday. And messed up my front hood. Where should I take it to get it fixed? any suggestions? Im located in Virginia, Virginia Beach
