Thanks! This one had a variety of interesting challenges, like how to get the gauge cleaned up. The paint color is what really made this one a success though.
Beautiful restoration. I love the colors. From the first comment I take it, you have a brother who does this too. I took my two granddaughters each a set of your books and they loved them. Looking forward to more restorations
Thank you! So happy to hear that your granddaughters loved the books, too. If you got them from Amazon please leave a review. It's the only way they get noticed. :) My brother's channel is @whattherust and he does "Will It Run" videos for old cars and trucks. He's been at it for quite a few years. Coincidentally, my next video is actually an old drill which he sent me to restore.
I have one of those......... Ours still works. Nothing bad to say about the vintage chargers.... provided that you check on them while they are charging.
We used one similar to these when I was a kid in the 1970's without any problems. The transformers are getting on in years but hey, if they're still good, let them work.
@@floridarusticrepairs I just got power at my house about 2:00 am this morning .My mom's house is totaled....(5' of water) from hurricane Helen, this one (Milton) made it worse.
Only 15 minutes into this but I have to run some errands. I'll finish later. That said, I hope the hurricane wasn't too bad near you. I also heard you call your cat mugsy.... I thought for sure it was sea biscuit. Have a Jesus filled day everyone Greg in Michigan
Thank you. The hurricane was not too bad. I'm on a hill so flooding isn't an issue. The wind took a lot of branches down but nothing major for me. Flea Biscuit and the characters in the book are all pets which i had 25 years ago. Sadly, they are all passed. I wrote the books to keep their memories alive.
Hey, that turned out great. 2👍👍up. Glad your ok from the hurricane. About what part of Florida are you near? We're coming down for 2 months this winter. In-laws have their winter place near Zephyrhills. Not sure if they had damage. See you on your next video. Greg in Michigan
Thanks! The teal paint really makes it cool. I'm just north west of Tampa inland. Zephyrhills is not far from me. Only 30 minutes. I don't think they had much damage but there was enough rain to flood lower areas and enough wind to down trees so it will depend on each home.
Thanks! I figured I'd never be able to replace that meter which is why I put so much time into restoring it. It looks like replacements are available. Great info.
You know, that would make a lot of sense! After reading your question I had to go back and check it but no. It's only a 6v or 12v selector. There is no middle position.
@@floridarusticrepairs I have a neighbors cat like that too, she has a home on the next street over but, she can see if I am outside and comes running.
you and your older brother are just amazing at refurbishing old electronics ad mechanicals... nice problem solving videos 👌

I highly agree with putting a switch in. Excellent idea
Thanks! It always struck me as odd that most battery chargers lack a simple power strip.
Another great project, looks good too. 57 Chevy Teal, looking blue.
Thanks! That's what I was thinking. I beautiful retro color.
Nicely done, I like the variety you've been doing.
Thanks! When I saw this rusting away under a bench at an estate sale I figured it deserved a chance.
Better than new!
Thanks! It's the color that really makes it.

Great job, hopefully you are doing well after hurricane Milton
Thanks! No major damage but we still don't have power. Hopefully in a few days.

Mugsy is a great supervisor!
He is my boy. My wife tells me how upset he gets when I work late because he won't go to bed until I'm there. He's a great cat.
looks great i have a old one the cover on the meter is broke kinda have it rigged to stay on but it works
I would think looking at the old paper in the transformers, that these have a shelf life. I was surprised this one put out enough power.
Not a bad deal for $2. 😉
Thanks! It looks very much like one my father had back in the 1970's so I felt it needed to be brought back.

Selenium diodes bad if output is off, you can buy a (emico) meter off eBay very reasonable

does your switch cut the power or ground side of the switch
It's a two prong cord so it would work either way but if you trace the wire back it goes to the hot (smaller) of the two prongs.
one of the you tube channels i watch says if you store the liquid electrical tape upside down it doesn't dry out
Great tip! Thanks.
just a idea, nothing to do with video, on roller tool box's with rusty tops try and use a spray can of bed linner
That's a great idea! I could still paint over it if I really wanted too. Thanks!
Isn't the middle position of the voltage switch "off"?

Annabelle is Beautiful
Yes. She is the neighbor's cat but ever since I moved in 5 years ago she's been spending most of her time on my front porch.
