    I'd argue that the lemon sprayer shouldn't be compared to just juicing a lemon like that since the intention (for whatever reason) is to get a fine spray. So the comparison would be to juice the lemon first and then put that into a spray bottle.

    The lemon sprayer I think is more of a bartending thing or salad where you just need a slight spray of lemon juice vs a lot of juice. Still loses out to just having a mini spray bottle.

    • @maximilianmaier3950
      @maximilianmaier3950 3 ปีที่แล้ว +24

      I like it a lot.
      I prefer using fresh lemons whenever possible and I use theim not only for their juice but also for lemon zest.
      If I emptied the lemon into a spray bottle, I could keep the juice, but the zest would go bad really fast.
      The sprayer allows me to keep the lemon mostly intact, so it stays fresh in the fridge much longer and I can use it for lemon zest and for it's juice whenever I need to.
      And when I start to feel uncomfortable keeping the entire fruit, because it might go bad soon, i can still cut it open and save just the juice.

    • @bobd2659
      @bobd2659 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      It certainly has it's uses for that, and for a bar or restaurant the bottle would be better. But for home, you won't need a lot. I'd rather go with this, than a spray bottle that would end up being hard to clean, and fresh lemon doesn't store nearly as well as the bottled stuff... It would also be good for use as a spritz on cookies, like shortbread. Also not just for lemons...an orange shortbread cookie is wonderful!

    • @ericktellez7632
      @ericktellez7632 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I mean we express the peels of lemons and oranges in bartending but using lemon as a spray? That isn’t really a thing in bartending because the oils on the skin are not the same as the actual juice inside

    • @PabloEdvardo
      @PabloEdvardo 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The real issue in the video was just a simple technique problem. Dan should have thoroughly rolled the lemon around the counter, forcefully, to break apart the internal structure and release the juice BEFORE inserting the auger.
      By doing it after already cutting and inserting the auger, you're not able to apply as much pressure to the lemon itself, so you aren't going to get as much juice.
      Even when juicing by hand it's best to crush and roll them first before cutting.

      @@PabloEdvardo - Well, if you really insist on using this gadget, I think the old a-few-seconds-in-the-microwave trick would help liberate the juice for spraying.

    The strawberry slicer looks like it might be good for kids helping in the kitchen as it would be safer than a knife. The lemon spritzer would be fine for spritzing on a salad or something else you want only a light amount of the juice and then cutting the lemon for other use. The watermelon cutter looked the best of all, though. The one who did the cutting should get the core :-) or you could slice the core for watermelon 'coins' which would look nice in a fruit salad beside the wedges.

      @@Kavafy If you do actual lemon, you don't need a lemon/lime sprayer imho. The sprayer is the only one of the gadgets I actually own, but I have never actual lemon in it, but some sort of lemon essence (not sure what the english word for it is). Basically a replacement for when you suddenly realised that you have forgotten to buy lemons, or if you only need a little bit of the aroma and don't want to slice a whole lemon for it. Since the replacement is way more intense than actual lemon, you have to use it very carefully. And that's what the sprayer is useful for. (to clarify, there is naturally some sort of plastic lemon under it, and thats where the replacement stuff is filled in...basically more a fancy spray bottle).

      I think most of it would be great if its for a party...
      Say for example a watermelon cutter took 5 seconds (hand 10 sec) but cleaning took 10 seconds (hand 5 sec). I mean thats for one watermelon... If youre hosting a party and cut off 5 watermelons... Itd be something like:
      For easier understanding (sorry i had to add this since my explaination is a bit all over the place and im trying to make it clearer):
      Slicer (1)= 5 sec(cutting) + 10 sec (cleaning) = 15 sec
      Knife (1)= 10 sec (cutting) + 5 sec (cleaning) = 15 sec
      Slice (5) = 5(5) + 10=
      25+ 10 = 30 sec
      Knife (5) = 10(5) + 5 =
      50 + 5 = 55 sec

    I work at an açaí bowl place, and I use the strawberry slicer every day. It’s super convenient and it works fine with my smaller hands, but in every one of the slicers after about a week it breaks somehow. The top part doesn’t spring back up so you have to manually put it up every time you slice, or the blades become crooked so it doesn’t slice all the way through. Usually i make fun of the kitchen gadgets because I don’t know what anyone would by them since doing it by hand only takes a couple more seconds, but in the case of restaurants the gadgets really come in handy! (even if they break most of the time)

    I keep wanting to see if the watermelon slicer would work as effectively (if not more) if the watermelon half was put on the flat side? That way, the outermost 'peel' would get cut all the way through right in the beginning :)

    I have the watermelon slicer and have had it for a few years. It's fantastic. Ours has a base with a slightly curled up center with a hole in it and another base that it sits on. Takes a little bit of strength but completely cuts it open evenly. Love it..
    I wouldn't serrate the blades as it would be pretty dangerous at that point especially to clean. Sooo, uh nooo.
    The handles could use better grips even though they're not to bad.
    And yes the heart (tube) is the BEST part..

The handle was like a corkscrew, just like he mentioned would be better, but the opening tip was a lot like that, it was wide and dented. I remember my grandmother using it without much difficulty, and she preferred it over the knife for safety reasons. It didn't have the whole bottle cap though. After opened we drank it. Coconuts don't have all that water in order to keep it for later after opening.

    For the coconut tool, I would instead like it to have the same shape as a syringe. I think the trick to that would be a quick stab and not a crank. Maybe a tool that has a safety guard and you smash one end with a mallet to drive in the syringe-shaped tube and quickly pierce the coconut.
    As for the lemon spritzer... just buy a spritzer at the dollar store and fill it after crushing the juice out of the lemon. This is solving a problem that doesn't exist.

    I'd get the watermelon slicer. As for the center core, nobody gets it, it's going in a pitcher of water with cucumber, and mint.
    I was thinking larger curved teeth for the coconut tap, something more akin to a tiger shark tooth that is both curved and serrated. As the the lime, damn strait you put the lime in the coconut and drink em all up.
    I've got a citrus juicer that bores in and allows you to pour out the juice. Rolling and squeezing the fruit first helps, as does pulling out that boring core. Then when I can't pour more, I remove the tap and just squeeze. I could see using that sprayer.
    Come strawberry season and I'm making jam, that'll slicer would be useful. Though I can't see using it unless I'm working with a lot of strawberries.
