After seeing the R3, I know what my first EV will be 😍
Ditto, beautiful car and one that should attract regular sedan buyers
The NEW R2 starts at 38k after rebates… for a fully electric SUV that looks great and has decent range. The R3 will be even cheaper also looks great and has a decent range. They’re getting into CR-V & RAV4 price range territory. I think they have a bright future ahead of them.
Fingers crossed the EV rebates will continue into 2026!
They're losing money on every vehicle they sell😂
@@mikopaq what’s your point? It took Tesla over 10yrs to turn their first profit. It took a further 7yrs beyond that to have a full profitable year through each quarter.
I’m so proud of Steve-O
now I can’t un-seen this lol
@@joshknutson16 😂 sorry!
LoL 😂😆😅
Lmao. I was thinking the same thing
The auto industry is having a tough time in general but Rivian got 68k preorders the day of the R2 announcememt. I'm super happy with my R1S. There's no other offroad capable ev in mass production. Thousands of new Rivian owners are going to be happy with the R2. I still own ice cars for the other drivers in my household and i thought we'd have to still rely on them but it's the Rivian we take on all our adventures now.
3 days old but I'd argue cybertruck is there. When you say mass manufacturing, I think cybertruck should already be on that list.
@@michaelmillsap4199 yes you are right but I was focused on the SUV market. I guess the jeep 4xe qualifies as well since it is plug in but things like the Bollinger just aren't there. I'm sure the lightning is pretty capable as a truck off-road.
@@LarsDennert Ah if listed specifically for SUV then it makes sense. I do wonder how much longer SUV's will survive lol
Good
Mine is ordered! Gonna look good next to my tesla in the garage
MAKE IT RELIABLE!!!!
Both the Vehicles and Private Level 2 charging is Very reliable, great for Commercial use. Problem is Public Charging operators are neglectful.
Looks like Stevo’s handsome younger brother 😂
If anything they need to delay the R2 and push the R3 ahead of it, especially the base single-motor model which I hope is trimmed to really own its' base-model hatchbackness. the medium-crossover EV segment is the most crowded while the Chevy Bolt never collected on dealers' lots and sold to a waiting list to the end and Nissan still finds buyers for the very stale Leaf.
I've seen a few of them in my area...👍
I think theynreally hit it out of the park with the R2's design.
I can’t decide whether I want a Rivian or a Tesla
Depends if you want some off-road capability beyond just gravel roads and if you can wait or not.
will there be carplay?
It’s going to be a long slog for rivians . There’s 3 in my neighborhood and the two people i spoke with are former Tesla owners. They love their rivians.
I don't think these are the right questions. The elephant in the room here is how Rivian can remain a going concern until 2026. Any company can trot out prototypes and make promises. I hope that Rivian can survive, but I think the reporter should be asking how it is that Rivian can do what they promise given the fact that they are losing $35k for every vehicle they sell, while their volume growth appears to be slowing.
Tesla had the same issues in the beginning but elons deep pockets pulled them through. Rivian has a viable product but the up front costs are huge and have to be amortized over many years of operation.
These prices do not mean anything until the vehicle gets delivered. Delivery is 2 years away
This interviewer came up with a lot of ridiculous questions. She doesn’t seem to understand the topic.
Rivian ❤
I’m in on the stock but damn, those headlights though. So ugly 😂
I was thinking the same thing
How are Americans able to afford smart phones?
How are Americans able to afford laptops?
How are Americans able to afford desktops?
How are Americans able to afford big screen TVs?
How are Americans able to afford Solar panels?
One word....China.
China has an amazing choice, variety, price range of EVs.
American bigotry and paranoia at the top is denying the American people those choices.
Dude China is pulling out of a bunch of those consumer electronic industries. Maybe you should read the Made in China 2025 CCP white paper where they want to move into high profit margin products and services. Especially stuff like Big Screen TVs and Solar Panels which is about commodity scale. That goes against CCP's plans. FYI DJI is a Chinese company and they sell video Camera that Starts at $7,000.
Their models are cool, but if you can’t sell them with a profit there is no future.
You can’t sell any car with a profit 😂.
They literally deprecate as soon as you drive them off the lot.
Go buy a classic then you’re good
@@ailpaysthebills Rivian is losing $33,000 on every truck they sell...
He’s talking about the consumer. Thought your comment was from a consumer point of view. You wasn’t clear as to whom
@@ailpaysthebills WTF That is not relevant to the AUTOMAKER, they do not incur depreciation if they sell the car outright.
@@mikaxms Such numbers don't make sense as they are paying for building out Assets.
I thought that was the guy from Jackass. Seriously
Choice….is not the reason people don’t want EV’s. Nothing against Rivian, but EV’s are glorified golf carts. My internal combustion Sierra offers me FREEDOM💯🇺🇸
LOL But your GMC Sierra is WEAK and Fragile. There is no freedom in that. Internal Combustion is useless if you make out of weak disposable materials. Push it too hard and it's going to be an expensive bill at the GM dealership. You are soo brainwashed do you even know how to wrench on your truck? Have you seen what is under engine cover? I would not want to deal with that mess.
AFIK Only very high end expensive golf carts use Lithium Ion Cell Arrays and they dangerously overkill. Two deep cycle Lead Acid batteries to power a motor in a Golf Cart is nothing like a modern BEV with hundreds or thousands of lithium cells. The massive difference is if you connected all the cells together with no computer managing the safety it would cause a massive firey mess due to the immense power. Unlike Golf Cart which is can be a simple as two dumb Lead acid brick in series. That's like calling your GMC sierra as simple a Ford Flat Head.
Tesla is the best car company ever no gas stations no oil changes no smog check no corrupt dealerships no catalytic converter no dealer mark up above MSRP!
everyone copied their interior design with the tablet
If you want your kids and grandkids to choke on smog then buy a gasoline powered car
It’s literally been proven that ev has a bigger carbon foot print than combustion. Toyota is abandoning them and going hybrid. Hydrogen is the best for the environment. Ev is a scam
He so fine tho
Hell yeah, brother.
Beautiful vehicle I would love to have my concern will the company go belly up or be bought out by another manufacture ?
You need the vehicle now not two years !
Looks like a ford bronco. It would be awesome with a v8. Somebody has to customize one and still get that credit.
A V8 would have less power, be way less efficient, and require way more maintenance.
V8 are not typically used in this size of vehicle. Packaging would also be horrible with a lot of wasted space. It would only be equivalent to the performance of Dual Motor setup. Also Off Road performance would be way worse as you would need a centre differential. V8s are fine for City Cruisers for Fun but not for real world useable reliable performance.
I don’t like EVs and I want an R3. They need to deliver them in late 2025.
CEOs are more and more like politicians these days, what happened to the answers directly to the point? I’m sick of the 90% of the answers is for marketing with the last sentence is half answers the question asked.
The clickbait is strong in this title.
Unfortunately, it's unattractive and the company has struggled to fund its operations despite $6B+ spent...which concerns owners that in the event of bankruptcy, there will be no warranty contingency.
It won't go bankrupt....there's enough cash to last and if it gets tight, they will raise more cash. Or a company would heavily invest or buy the company. The reason is because Rivian is a really well liked company that has a great product that customers love. That's huge. Any large company would love to buy that if the company really needs a lifeline. So relax, the company isn't going bankrupt anytime soon
All this new tech and still no infotainment yet. Netflix or Hulu would be great
Rivian meet Dodo
Don’t bother telling anyone Home chargers are expensive , inefficient or not feasible
WTF that is absurd nonsense. Home charging is soo much cheaper than paying for FUEL. It's about 2.5x cheaper for me personally and the price difference can pay off a 9.6kw charger install a 2-3 years. It's very feasible for lots of people who have no yet even driven an electric vehicle.
@@Neojhun I was quoted 6000 for a charging setup . not including the new hydro panel I’m out !!!
Wait till someone hits your new rivian. The fun begins 😂 nightmare!!!!
Everyone that bought electric still have them, the rest are not flocking to get them 😂
That doesn't even make sense, currently BEVs account for a very tiny slice of the market.
RIVIAN is losing $30,000 every truck they sell.
Sure to build out new assets they never had before. This is not an established company losing money from their existing operations. Maybe learn how economics works first.
@@Neojhun You're spewing BS, they're never going to be profitable. Burning investors money and not GAF because it's not their own. Facts
This is to all Electric Car Makers (not just Rivian) - How about stop building new Cars and Trucks and start figuring out how to make the Batteries within those vehicles much more efficient to place EV's on a more competitive advantage with Gas Counterparts.
They are better. I have a hybrid and it cost .8 cents per mile. An ev costs like one penny-ish and I produce most of it on the roof of my house. I can't produce any gas at my house.
I do find that driving an old Prius or insight is the cheapest overall. But that does have its fallbacks.
WTF do you mean by efficient? The industry is already aiming at 4 miles per kWh for passenger cars. That means out of a 80kWh battery like a Model 3 that's 320 miles. Which is plenty useable and it does not need to compete with Gas on sheer range as it won't be used. The BEV industry should just settle for 300-400 miles and anyone else who wants more should stick with Hybrids.
They 100k no they not 😂
The new ones are $45K
@@gaymoderate4403for the base model w non extended range that's not even out yet ?
English?
LOL you are soo brainwashed, the entire point of this interview is because of the launch of the new Rivian models, about $50K drive away. You are wrong off by 200%.
Not really. As all these things are still true
Mindset: they are too expensive, they don’t have enough range, there isn’t enough infrastructure, they depreciate too much in the first three years of ownership, they are fun for the first two days then are boring (I owned a Porsche taycan and sold it after 6 months) I am an EV fan but not in this final form.
That's because you bought the inferior, two-speed, crap software, low range overpriced Taycan. Had you boguht the vastly better designed plaid, then none of your issues would have existed.
Oh and also they have a value of $0 when it's time to replace the battery.
LOL Using an early PORSCHE Taycan as a bases for ALL BEV is glorious out of touch. Sure mr rich guy, you realise there are CHEAPER BEVs with better real world capabilities.
Rivians are just kinda goofy looking, imo.
The Trump-Musk Alliance. M.A.G.A. 2024!
Too expensive for most people.
No $ale!
I feel really bad for all the child slaves who will be out of a job when they close the mines whose resources are used to make our EV vehicles. This is Trump's fault!
No, he's not.
Thinking that evs should be expensive is the dumbest possible mindset. I can understand startups like tesla and rivian starting off their company with expensive models, but major oems like ford have 0 business making luxury evs.
WTF No one is thinking to want that. It's just expensive cost of Creating Supply Chain and Manufacturing operation that makes it soo expsensive. You are ingoring the several decade of manufacture and supply chain development that make a 4 Banger car soo much cheaper.
@@Neojhun lol people that justify oems are so comical to me.
Man...That lil @$$ car 🙄😒🤦🏾♂️
Two things turn me away (and im a HUGE Rivian FAN) none of the models have an opening sun roof and they will not add Apple Car Play, so until that changes, its a no for me. I own a HYUNDAI Kona Limited EV and this thing is FUN ASS HELL to drive, if someone says they will "get bored" then there is something wrong with them. There is a certain mindset for an EV owner and honestly it is not for everyone. I personally cannot live without one, so many features and driving past every gas station is a pure joy.
Apple is like that. If you had literally anything besides Apple you could get a $20 radio from Wal Mart with Bluetooth and use that to play your music and read your texts and hears your calls.
@@RefreshingShamrockyou are misinformed. 3rd party infotainment for CarPlay does exist, but is obviously more clunky than built in. It’s Rivian who isn’t supporting it, not Apple. And Rivian does have built in Bluetooth connectivity, people just want the flexibility of CarPlay compared to the built in infotainment. Same story for Android Auto. I own an R1T. I’m happy with the provided infotainment personally but others aren’t.
The Rivian Ute ('Truck' to Americans) is amazing. 1000klm range and incredible features. But expensive.
Unfortunately, they have no plans to make a right hand drive version for those of us who drive on the *CORRECT* side of the road. 🤣
1000km Range is not plausible and not useful to vast majority of their target market. Sure 400 Miles should be the goal but 600 miles plus is just wasteful and not a market worth serving.
