14:00 you should be able to change everything using the blinking LED system and MENU and SET buttons as you can with the BT link system on mobile phone, if I understand correctly. I have 8 Traxxas vehicles with the TQi radio and recently put the link into one of them for my 2021 Bronco video series. The interface is WAY easier obviously, and Traxxas doesn't make it easy to find the doco for the LED-based programming sheets online, but you should be able to adjust punch, braking rate and strength, etc etc using the LEDs. I've just unpacked my new Xmaxx today and will have to have a play with the radio before I swap it to the BT linked handset - want to make sure I'm not just telling stories here. But I've been using the TQi radios since 2013 or so and as much as I don't like the button and LED interface, it does get the job done. Deep, deep patience is sometimes needed, but it does work! Thanks for the video and the info here :)
I have just been replacing and upgrading as breakages and failures accure. So far all A arms, hubs, hub carriers, shock towers and tires and wheels twice and drive shaft twice and bumpers front and back 3 times so far. The steering servo and esc failed so I replaced those with a max 6 and the traxxas servo upgrade. I bought it in winter so it broke a lot.... I added the m2c chassis brace and drive shaft support. Now it just seems to break hubs, hub carriers and bumpers. It survived a 100 foot cliff drop to flat without breakage recently too so I am pretty happy with it lately. Stoked on the X-Maxx!
Consider taking on the challenge of installing a 5th scale servo and doing a tutorial on it. It would be (to my knowledge) the first high quality tutorial on TH-cam
When it finally gives up the ghost we are likely to do that very thing, but as it stands the servo is still kicking with no issues. Perhaps we got a good one. If you know of a good servo for that video please leave it in the comments and we'll look into it. AJ
Did you check the front and rear hubs? I have the solar flare version and it was upgraded out of the box with the heavy duty hubs and large bearings all around
I saw this and you're Slash 4x4 ultimate videos since they both are some of my favorite rc cars and i subscribed. Love your videos and i used to have a rock n roll X-Maxx and i plan to get another one someday or another color i'm currently thinking about getting a Sledge or a Slash 4x4 Ultimate.
Love your content. But l never had a problem with arms. Hit a telephone doing 45mph rite on left A arm broke all kinds of stuff shifted motor. Bent the drieshaft so bad the truck buckled and was locked up solid. Sheared the tower to tower brace. Actually tore a brand new rim and tire.arms were fine lol
Not the case for us here. Broken arms, broken hub carriers, servo saver parts, steering linkages, all broke way too easily. It is a thing. Still, each RC has it's own destiny. We've only replaced what has broken and these parts are our list of durability issues, but this only applies to "our" rig. I hope you have better luck in the future. Keep on bashing, my friend. AJ
Can't wait to see the upcoming videos I have an x-max that's completely stock it's still pretty much brand new and I know there's some issues but what a great truck.
I'm surprised you haven't upgraded the servo, everyone else seems to recommend that upgrade. I'm sunning stock everything right now, with the exception of an arm that broke. I replaced it with Traxxas HD instead of RPM, we'll see how that goes. Thank you for your videos, always very informative!
I will replace it when it finally fails. As a rule, unless the car is not good to start with (like a mega or the like), we only upgrade for durability. We do replace the items that become an issue, so the servo is likely to get some attention sooner or later. Until then, the thing runs out good and it's controllable, so well have to wait and see. Thanks for commenting. AJ
My electronics are stock but ive geared it to 19t pinion and 50t spur and the captured hinge pins also done the m2c shock oring piston upgrade and the wider m2c chassis brace and its now a beast💪
Great video, you mentioned a limit of 6000 MA battery packs. I thought I would let you know the Lectron pro 7600 part 4s7600-75x fits with no mods. I've been running them for about a year and half now. I had one stop working after 3 Months but they replaced it quickly.
so now i have questions about the tires. so i bought a used x maxx thats damaged on ebay. it need two new tires for the left side along with diffs and spur and pinion gears and servos savor. so this x maxx is just like the blue one. what firmness is on this truck and what the part number because i want to same firmness in all four corners.
I been hearing some guys say that they got a new Xmaxx and it came with the upgraded rear hubs with the bigger bearings front and rear. The part numbers are back 7752X and front 7737X. I got a new one 2 months ago and mine had the regular one with the regular bearings. I was wondering if this one had them on it ?
No. Rob's Xmaxx has the same hub carriers as our original Xmaxx. It did not come with the bearing upgrade, which means we will be doing the hub carrier switch to RPM. Thanks for asking. AJ
Great information! This is perfect for fun driving and your driving style! Awesome! Unfortunately mine is built for explosive short run up full throttle full brake stunts. Mine is built like a bullet proof tank. But I’m very hard on my rc’s. Everyone has a different driving style. Your upgrades are on point for fun durable driving! Great video as usual!!!! 💯👍👏
Thanks, Speed. Everyone who's seen your content knows how you set your rigs up. You are really off the chain, and I think I know why you do it; One, it is your style, but Two, we both know it looks killer on video. I applaud your choices and your determination, my friend. Perhaps that's why I've been subbed to your channel for as long as I have. You NEVER fail to disappoint. It "might" be cool to do a video or two on how bad ass you get with a stock one once in a while, but then again, never change you. You do you, and I'll be there cheering you on. AJ
AJ!!!! I miss you Brother! So sorry! I love your videos, I’ve been so busy. I’m sneaking to watch this at work. You are a rc TH-cam staple and hate I missed some of your videos. I will catch up. Your Awesome! Epic content every video!!! I will watch the video and comment on it. 🙏👏👊👍💯 RCFAM4LIFE!!!
Thanks, Speed. Your videos are not to be missed either. I'm sure glad I found your channel. You're a must watch for us here. Keep 'em coming, brother. AJ
Well...that's apples and oranges to be sure. The Kraton 8s is top of our list here at the moment, but the Xmaxx is only down in third. They are completely different and give a different experience. We've run the Xmaxx way more than the Kraton and I personally love the way it tracks and handles. The Xmaxx is a monster truck style RC while the Kraton is more of a truggy. With some minor upgrades the Xmaxx can be really tough. Best of luck. AJ
@@AJJAMStudios yeah the kraton isn’t bad it just breaks to easy but the rest is great has lots of power and will be good for going around the track and I’m about to get my xmaxx so that will be more of my bashing car. Thanks for the response.
Rpm fitment will always be an issue. I have the arms on my outcast 8s and Talion EXB and the hub carriers on my Xmaxx and used the HD arms and never broke them I’ve broken countless bulkheads, bellcranks and a chassis. My buddy has the rpm arms and the locking hinge pins and he doesn’t jump as crazy as me and guess what? He’s breaking everything that I’m breaking still and he’s actually broken more chassis and bulkheads than me. I recently switched to the wide kit and those arms are HD. I slowed the video down of a big crash that should have killed my Xmaxx. The rear wheel touched the back bumper! Nothing broke and I don’t get it 🤯
Im using zee power 6000mah 100c batteries in my xmaxx and they fit really well, ive put a 5mm thick rubber under the battery's tho just to get more of a tighter fit but the length of them are spot on. I took her out the other day and had about 30 mins run time💪
The thing is, we've never had a bearing issue with my Xmaxx, and it is an older one. Our problem was the hub carrier itself disintegrating. The RPM carriers have functioned absolutely perfectly, that's why we recommend them. Also, if your going to do the hub carriers, the captured hinge pins and arms hold up well too. You're not wrong, but neither are we. There are many ways to do a job. I guess it comes down to driving style and what you intend to do with your rig. Thanks for the info, it's spot on. AJ
The bearings haven't been the issue, it's always been the hub itself. And we did compare them to Rob's new rig and they haven't beefed them up at all. The RPM carriers are beefy and tough, that's why we use them here. Thanks for the input, we appreciate the comment. AJ
It's normally a joke people go on about saying a red or Green xmax is faster than the other they're not serious when they say it 😆 for me the red xmaxx is faster than the rest 😆😆😆

AJ, try out the 9000mA 100c Zee batteries. They fit perfect, and they're run time is like 54 minutes. You'll love the run time they produce.

What is the car above the kraton
It's the Cen Racing Reeper.
No need for new hubs, they come with updated hubs now with larger inner bearings
