Thank you for this pod cast. Ive been suffering from Bells Palsy since Dec 15 2023, and now starting to believe my stress level caused this condition. I truly believe I can get better and I am each day but it has been really hard coping. Even with all my routines in doinf box breathing, qigong, and swimming...as soon as I stopped doing these for myself, I got Bells Palsy! It is so important to take care of your stress level! Its been a great insight to manage my life better and make time for my mind. ❤

Great interview. I really admire her.
This mics that create clear sound also pick up breaths and lip smacks/mouth noise we don’t notice much when people are simply speaking. It cracks me up that people doing little with their lives comment about such things and “they just can’t watch” etc.
“Ellen J. Langer is the author of eleven books, including the international bestseller Mindfulness, which has been translated into fifteen languages, and more than two hundred research articles. She is the recipient of, among other numerous awards and honors, a Guggenheim Fellowship, the Award for Distinguished Contributions to Psychology in the Public Interest from the American Psychological Association, the Award for Distinguished Contributions of Basic Science to the Application of Psychology from the American Association of Applied and Preventive Psychology, and the Adult Development and Aging Distinguished Research Achievement Award from the American Psychological Association. Langer’s trailblazing experiments in social psychology have earned her inclusion in The New York Times Magazine’s “Year in Ideas” issue and will soon be the subject of a major motion picture. A member of the psychology department at Harvard University and a painter, she lives in Cambridge, Massachusetts.”
She is 77 years old and was the first female tenured professor of psychology at Harvard. I am certain she is losing sleep cause people in the TH-cam comments don’t like her lip smacking. Rawr!

Just like she said on this podcast… things change ie coffee is bad for you, red wine is bad for you. Fast forward… studies show that coffee can be good for you and red wine.
I saw that to say that there are a couple people in the world, and actually written in the literature in 2019, that were cured from HIV. Look it up. Things are constantly changing ( evolving). Cheers

The saying that everyone is different and differences should be celebrated, discussed at the end of the interview is in my perspective an incomplete truth.
    Why?
Because I think although that everyone is different, we are all the same at the same time...
    People often say things like
" I am the way I am, because I'm different!
But they don't seem to recognise that their behaviour is based in their perception of the reality.
People " feel " different but they often want to relate to each other, to be integrated in the group.
In order for them to feel normal and accepted, they must understand that the experience they feel is not different than anybody else in their position, but their perspective is all that makes the difference...the prism trough which you see the world.
The real freedom that everyone can give to themselves is the ability to CHOOSE What reality you want to feel and you can do that not only for the current moment, but for your past experiences. And changing the way you view your past will profundity enhance the way you see yourself your capabilities and ultimately your future.
A world of judgment or a world of compassion.
Yes we are special, just like everybody else.

Great talk, just a pity about her big misunderstanding about what meditation is! Mindfulness is the very essence of meditation, the word meditation means 'familiarisation' ... with the present moment. Meditation is not a 'technique'
