Opening our minds to what's possible

“You can’t be healthy if you’re not there… the consequences of being in one state of mind or another are enormous. Virtually all of our suffering … is the direct or indirect consequence of our mindlessness.” ―Ellen Langer

New great quote: (bravo teacher Ellen Langer)
“Things are changing, what we want to do is harness the power of that uncertainty, right now we hold things still, we think holding things still is going to give us control, in fact we have far more control by noticing the way things change and not to be afraid of those changes.”
    Ellen Langer

My husband was told he needed to be put into an induced coma because his stats were off the scale I refused to let them as I was afraid if they did they might turn of the machine he had kidney failure .the doctors came back to me an hour later, amazed that he had rallied, his will to live was so strong, he continued to amaze doctors because on paper they said he should of been dead ….I didn’t want their limited mindset to limit his chances of survival. He continued to defy the odds. But sadly died after they forgot to remove the stent post transplant, leaving him to suffer A aortic aneurysm . I truly believe if it was down to my husbands will to live he would still be alive today , sadly those caring for him didn’t have that belief. The mind truly is an amazing thing.

How underrated this is, makes me sad. These are the sciences we should be exploring.

I tried to get Counterclockwise at the library, but they could not find it; not even through an interlibrary loan. :(

    Mindfulness is a Buddhist idea

+Hua Jin Ellen Langer distinguishes her concept of mindfulness from the Buddhist version, claiming that hers is based entirely on contemporary Western psychological research. Whether it's the same thing or not is a matter of opinion.

Mindfulness is a Christian concept. Mentioned in the New Testament. Not in the words thatwe use now, but principle is the same. We're told to renew the 'spirit of the mind', to 'dwell on these things,' and so on.
