  • Volvo's C40 is a coupé version of the XC40, a vehicle we're very familiar with. We hit the winter roads with this 2024 Volvo C40 Recharge Ultimate Twin Motor.
This video was made possible with the support of Elmec and their EVduty Smart Home Charger. You can schedule, control access, and even see your estimated charging costs from the EVduty smartphone app. Use public charging stations and grant access to your own all from the app. For more information about the EVduty Smart Home Charger visit: www.elmec.ca/language/en/
PRN_TestDrive has launched an all-new website to compliment our videos! To see more photos and a written review about the vehicles we feature, plus exclusively content not published on TH-cam head on over to www.prntestdrive.com/single-p...
In this episode of TestDrive Spotlight we go over the technical specifications and features found on the 2024 Volvo C40 Recharge. Our vehicle is the Ultimate trim, coming fully loaded for the Canadian market. We also have the Twin Motor setup, with 402 horsepower and 486 lb-ft of torque, with a 0-100 kmh of around 4.8 seconds. We hit the wintery streets of St. Thomas, Ontario to check out this subcompact luxury SUV EV.

You can put the car into the equivalent of “accessories” mode in ICE cars by pressing the menu button under the infotainment screen. Climate control and everything else inside will stay on until one of the front passenger leaves. Volvo refer to this as passive mode.

I mention that, and it's way more work than NOT pushing the stop/start button on almost any other EV. If it ain't broke don't fix it.

Most journalists don't seem to like this no start-stop button thing, but as a user (or me personally), I love it so much. Getting in, putting in gear and off you go is so easy for me. Also with one pedal mode I even let it roll to stop, get off without bothering putting it in N or P, lock the car and walk away.

I think most people don't like it, it's just journalists are the ones making reviews on them. It might work for some, and if you like it that's great. But I still like being in control of simple tasks like that.

    $82k before or after tax?

Everything we show includes MSRP, federal air tax, and delivery. Local taxes aren’t included since they vary significantly from each province/state.

I’m trying to compare the C40 to the Tesla model Y.

OMG, sorry to say, but that infotainment design is hideous.

It's certainly not our favourite. In fact it's low on the list for us. Google Maps is good, but that's the only positive we can say about it.
