    The parcel shelf at the rear ..or "shade" as you call it, fits upside down under the rear floor panel for easy storage. The centre hump is because it is a CMA chassis designed for ICE Transmission and BEV. In the EV, the battery is flat underneath and also under rear seats plus inside that hump .. so the "hump" is fully utilised and not unused space. The steering Pilot assist can be permanently turned off - I also find any kind of steering assist annoying even dangerous and, thankfully, it can all be turned off and stays off by default when restarted. This vehicle also has the best "One Pedal Driving" of any vehicle I've tried ... can't remember the last time I used the brake pedal 🙂

    Mike, I enjoy all your videos and this one is no exception. There are several reasons for that: 1) you focus on how aspects of the car affect overall driving pleasure; 2) you are very thorough; 3) you don't get bogged down in technical details or high-speed driving dynamics; 4) you consider the importance of different features or aspect (e.g., range) for different types of drivers; 5) you don't waste time with car comparisons; 6) the length of the videos are about right; and 7) the little yellow finger-pointing hand is very cool.
    At one point you were talking about how nice it was to be cruising down the highway in a sea of music with tremendous power at the ready. (Perhaps you were thinking of the adaptive cruise as well.) That is perhaps the most important take-away from your review, considering the amount of time one spends commuting, running errands and so on. Many reviewers waste time demonstrating how the car performs in the twisties, begging the question of whether most buyers of SUV's care a twit about that.
    When I test-drove the C40 (I have one on order) my overall impressions were similar to yours, but in addition to that the car felt super-tightly-built--if readers know what I mean--with no squeaks or rattles and I loved the commanding driving position, the seat comfort and the implementation of the one-pedal driving. The last (which is not adjustable, just on or off) is very similar to that on the BMW i3 I've owned for the past five years, which I consider perfect.
    It's perhaps worth noting that that the Fjord ("fee-ord") Blue interior is not the only choice. Charcoal is available for all trims. The interior blue is only available for the Plus and Ultimate trims with the faux-leather seats (as in the test car), for exterior colours other than Fusion Red and Sage Green. "Tailored Wool" seats (my choice, see bit.ly/3uAsbdz) is an option with the Plus and Ultimate trims. That option includes an Orrefors crystal gear shifter.

    GOOD VIDEO! Some REAL WORLD information, lighting, doors and the like. The center hump is a relic of the fact that the body was a gas car first

    Thanks for the video! Really like the C40, but for 2023 the roof is no longer blacked out…doesn’t seem as nice….thoughts?

    I love the center console. A nice place to rest my leg. I don’t need to see my pedal. I know where it is.😂 but i understand your point of view. Although it’s not an issue for me. Got the same “Issue” on my Polestar 2

    Thank you Mike!
    My only concern (as I live in FLorida!) is the fixed glass roof with no shade, looking at your video, I can see the sun shining quite bright inside

    • @CaryInVictoria
      @CaryInVictoria ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Some (but not all) owners have found the lack of a retractable cover for the glass roof has not been a problem, even in hot climates, due to the heavy tinting and perhaps the chemical makeup of the tinting. (Incidentally, I don't think that additional tinting can be applied without damaging the glass roof.) Volvo sells a removable shade that somehow attaches to the headliner. That's obviously not ideal, but may be acceptable if it is only needed on the hottest days. While the XC40 Recharge has a retractable shade (and a skylight that opens), I find the C40's glass roof more attractive than the XC40's.

    Those are some very ordinary looking floor mats. Hate that the glass roof doesn’t have the ability to be shut off, not a fan of the Fjord blue interior trim either otherwise I really like the look and the performance of the C40.

  • @srspower
    @srspower ปีที่แล้ว +1

    The swooping back makes virtually no difference compared to the xc40, you're talking less than 5 miles range difference.

    Would you compare it to a Tesla Y? I would go with the Volvo as Elon have fallen to full Qannon, and would also have $5K over to go on a vacation.

      Do you like Li Shufu's political views better?

    • @tonysofla
      @tonysofla ปีที่แล้ว +1

      "Li is an independent non-party affiliated delegate" #1 thing that makes a "good" country: don't allow misinformation that will kill the citizens, like "guns is good for society" and "Selfishness with pandemics is cool". China understands they are all in this together.

      Tesla Y(after the 17% price cut) is a FAR superior product for the same price. You name it, range , speed, technology etc. The Volvo is nice but an inferior product to the Tesla Y. Volvo should have matched the price cut, but did not.

    • @RW-ur7ym
      @RW-ur7ym 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@redstaper2414I am considering trading my Tesla YLR for the 2024 version C40. After three years and 36K miles, the harsh suspension system on the MY has become tiresome. It has also developed numerous annoying squeaks and rattles. The best thing about Tesla is the supercharger network and their software. Volvo builds a much better car and they will have access to the Tesla supercharger network soon.

    This Volvo C40 has a steering wheel vibration very bad when you drive 65 mph, Felt UNSAFE to drive, especially at high speeds. @Volvo, If you have a defective product, you need to take care of it, you know this is not the only one.
